I don’t make soup but make a pot of what we in the south call soup bean. We eat with cornbread and fried potatoes. My husband and I like mixed beans. I look them for rocks and discolored beans. I either soak overnight or that morning I put the beans in a bowl and cover with boiling water to soak for a few hours. After soaking I pour the water off and rinse the beans well before putting the beans in a pot to cook. This makes them cook faster and helps with the gas effect (sorry if TMI).
Love it !!!
Hi Kim, You are looking awesome!! I love the feel of starting the video at the kitchen table table. It feels very cozy and like we're just hanging out while you cook. Thank you for sharing your ideas and journey with us. ❤
My Nana did it just like you. She used the great northern beans when she made her baked beans. That's how I do my lentils too.
Thanks so much! 😊
I have heard of sorting through beans looking for rocks. I’ve just done this the way you did. I don’t think my mom or grandma cooked with beans because I don’t remember either of them doing this. This soup sounds delicious!
😀😀
Hello my friend! My momma just tones and ran her hands through. I do the same. The worst I’ve found was a sand blob (kinda if a crumbly rock) in pintos. That would have ruined the beans! I like the way you sort them!
Thank you. And miss you !!
Looks great! Have a ham bone in the freezer right now. I always add celery to mine too.
Sounds great!
My mom taught me to look for rocks. The last time I made pintos, my husband asked, "Why do you do that?" Looking for rocks. 😊 I used to pull out broken ones, but lately, I leave them. I figured they were just as good as the whole ones.
😃
Always look for rocks and rinse. Yummy!
You got that right!
Thanks💕
You're welcome 😊
It looks good
So good
Sounds good
Thank you
I just made that soup yesterday.
Yum yum.
Hey. I have to be more low sodium conscious- I feel like yours is pretty low. Would u recommend changing anything?
Look for low sodium items if they are available!!
What if you presoak the beans?
They cook faster if you precook. But they cook so quick in the instant pot that I don’t precook !!
@PrepWhisperer I did a little less time and they turned out good! Thanks for sharing the recipe!
