    BOISE -- A man who served on the jury in Lori Vallow Daybell's murder trial says he saw evil for the first time in his life while sitting in the courtroom with Daybell for five weeks.
    Saul Hernandez was juror number 8 and was assigned the seat closest to the witness stand from when the trial began on April 10 until a verdict was announced Friday afternoon. He and the 17 other jurors, including six alternates, sat directly across from Daybell.
    "If there is a face to evil, it was hers," Hernandez tells EastIdahoNews.com.
    Daybell was found guilty of killing Joshua "JJ" Vallow and Tylee Ryan. Hernandez and his fellow jurors also found her guilty of conspiracy of murder in connection to the death of Tammy Daybell, her husband's former wife.
    Hernandez sat down with EastIdahoNews.com reporter Nate Eaton for nearly an hour Wednesday morning at his Boise home to talk about his jury service, the evidence, witnesses, prosecution, defense and why he wasn't originally convinced that Daybell killed Tylee Ryan.
    Listen to our entire interview in the video player above.
    If you served on the Daybell jury and wish to share your story (on or off the record), email neaton@eastidahonews.com.

      The human side of Lori, is buried under years of false doctrine, toxic family life and her lovers version of things. Her Spiritual life has been so twisted by allowing others to direct her life, instead of the truth of the
      Original Bible, given by God to His only chosen profit, Moses. You can’t go wrong with just learning from it yourself! No need for “profits” who were/are self made! Not preaching, just pointing out the obvious, I think! IMO

    • @t-and-p
      @t-and-p Год назад +1

      @Yen - I definitely agree that there are strengths and weaknesses to both bench (judge only) and jury trials. My only concern with purely using judges is that they tend to come from richer socio-economic backgrounds and/or have money, giving them a very different life experience to much of the public. This means that they don't know what life is like for many of those in their courtroom (who are often much poorer), through no fault of their own.
      No matter their compassion and/or empathy, they can struggle to understand why someone won't trust the police, for example, because they've always personally been treated well by them. Many others don't have that luxury (perceived or real). Or they might not understand why someone chose to steal because they've not lived through crushing debt, bad credit, or ever been in a position where there were no other options left to feed their children.
      Jury trials have the same problem, because we need the "jury of our peers" to *actually* be our peers for the system to work, but the chances of getting someone who understands your situation is a lot higher when selecting 10-12 ordinary people from the wider population, than it is when you select 3 from a very limited pool.
      It's difficult, isn't it? Neither system is perfect, by any stretch of the imagination. Maybe we need to change the selection process to ensure that those with relevant life experience are chosen rather than discounted.

So much evidence that they dated throughout highschool but she kept it from her religious parents she wasn’t aloud to date. Anyways my brother is 42 and still in prison… we were extremely poor at the time & his appointed lawyer told him to plead guilty. We were totally fooled & the judge sentenced him to life. He has another 7 years left… I always wonder what his ex is up to now & how she feels about sending her innocent bf to prison. I know when he gets out he is going to be so messed up. It’s heartbreaking when we are put in situations we can’t fight. My brother was naive and listened to his lawyer it ended up people awful for him. The police also tricked my brother. They told him it was rape since she was underage & he kept saying no she was a sophomore when I was a senior & we’ve been dating since but the police kept pushing and pushing & he said if that is what you guys are telling me then maybe I did… that screwed him over. I wish I was older at the time so I could have helped my brother get a lawyer. Life is crazy like this sometimes & it actually made me want to become a lawyer. It makes me have new confidence in the justice system. They truly were heroic.I totally agree that the turning point should have been Charle's murder in AZ. The police really dropped the ball there. The allowed two stone cold killers go free, which resulted in the deaths of the children. IMO they must take some responsibility for the horrors that followed.
