I am interested in your longer term opinion on this bike now? There is extremely little in the way of user info on the X-Cape online. Have you had any issues now, 8 months later? Or all good?

Hey Jacob, the only issues I've had are user-generated. I dropped it in the sand behind where I shot this vid and damaged the left fairing. I've had a screw go into the tyre (fixed with a plug after the dash told me I had a flat) and I didn't tighten the bars properly after adjusting them for the 4th time so had to call a ride early to go home to fix them. Other than that its been pretty smooth sailing. I think the connectivity between the dash and my phone/cardo could be improved but other than that its been great. The biggest issue here in NZ remains the small dealer network.

Was researching getting a KLR as my second bike, but this thing is in the same price range and seems more modern!

More modern with an extra (Kawasaki designed) cylinder. Not the same kind of off road potential, however.

Serious question. Im considering selling my MT07 and getting an adventure bike. Deciding between the X-Cape or a CRF300Rally. You have both which makes this the perfect scenario. My mates all ride around the Nelson area and I miss out on the gravel sections. I am keen to join them but I am still on a restricted license and want a good bang for buck bike

How hard do you want to be able to go off road? Think of the Morini as a soft roader, great for gravel roads and easy off road but not great for tough tracks.
The Rally (mines a 250 BTW) is a great option on all forms of dirt (tyres make a huge difference) but it starts to fall flat on highways and the open road.

Pretty much soft roading, mostly gravel etc. I wont want to go play in the mud and single track.

@@dropagearnz the Morini would be the one I’d go for then. I think you’d find the CRF underpowered coming from the MT.
You could look at a Suzuki DL650 LAMS too and while you miss out on the cool tech and adjustable suspension it can be uncorked for more power whereas the Morini can’t AFAIK.

Hey bro. I’m based out of NZ as well. I’m not able to find a lot of info about the dealer network here in NZ or the company in general. It would be interesting to see how much your first service would cost. Also the parts availability is something that I’m really considering.

Will do man. I’ve had to put the service off a couple of times due to illness but the plan is to cover that all in the service video.

@@hemanthkarthik6390 still yet to get it done sadly. Between sick kids and darting off to Malaysia for the Guzzi launch I’ve had to postpone it a couple of times. Hopefully it’ll be done in the next week or so 🤞

Beautiful bike and most likely reliable enough but probably too under powered for all but the beginner

I respectfully disagree. Yes, if you want a powerhouse of a bike there are better options, but it’s got more than enough to be fun and usable in my experience so far.

@@OnThrottle Genuine question, did you get the A2 compliant model meaning the 47 BHPish one? We do not have a dealer in Southland and I enquired about it from a dealer up in Auckland but was disappointed to know the limited power version they import and unlocking it would mean a breach on warranty :( I am dying to test ride one but no dealer in Southland

It'll do 200KPH, 61hp is fine for it's weight, plenty of power....

  • @emilvva

    Heavy for a 650

    • @OnThrottle
      @OnThrottle  Год назад +1

It is but that’s not a big issue unless you’re constantly dropping it (don’t recommend, the plastics won’t like it).
Sadly we’re seeing weight continue to go up across the board as we add more tech to bikes and try to keep prices affordable. Look to the gen3 KLR650 as another example example.
