    I've been trying to wrap my head around Reflection Probes all afternoon, and this is the best explanation I've found so far. Looking forward to seeing your other stuff.

    Hello ! Amazing explanation! I am so thankful. Just please help me out... when you want to make an inteiror scene where there is a large mirror showing the ceiling... and you just placed a light there...how do I make the source of the light disapear on the mirror just letting the light effect influence the area? Cause if I place a light area in there it appears a large illumination surface screwing with all the light spots ! Ahahahahahah.

    hey. have you notice that after you changed the glass for a mirror and reduced the size of the probe (leaving the source of light out of the range) the reflection of the floor in the mirror is black (not reflecting the light), then, about the minute 17:22 when setting back brightness to 1.00 the reflection of the ligthbulbs, the poles and the floor are realistic while the light does not afect the steel in the poles out of the probe. You see what a i mean?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  4 года назад

      Yea, it is a bit weird. You might play with the auto exposure by turning that off and adjusting the brightness of the reflection probe. Is there a particular look you are going after?

  • @adymaill
    @adymaill 2 года назад +1

    ... the source of the light reflects in glass and mirrors. We need an option to turn off the light source, so that it's still emitting light, but the light source is hidden on the reflection. Do you have any answers about this situation?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  2 года назад +1

      Very interesting situation! If I were you, I would probably use a secondary light source to emit the light that does not appear in the reflection for that shot. You can toggle which lights are shown in which shot, which might be what you have to do. Hope that helps.

      @@ArchitectureVanguard Thank you so much for your answer. Yeah we sort of have to try to "run away" from the reflections hahaha. It sort of solves the problem for now. I'm very thankful🙏

    Thank you for the great Tutorial! I was trying to create the Dorste effect: mirror reflecting Into another mirror. But it seems it is not working. Do you think with reflection box should work?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  3 года назад

      You're very welcome, I would definitely try the reflection box at least. There may be other visual settings to achieve this but maybe not.

    Hi,
    I have issues using the reflection tool. When I render an animation at night, the reflection probe makes everything white inside the cube but rendering during the day comes out fine... Would you happen to know how to fix this issue?

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  3 года назад +1

      This means you will have to update the reflection probes. When you change the sun or anything like that you will need to update them. Before you render, make sure to update them all. There is an option in Twinmotion to update all reflection probes before exporting anything so you could simply turn that on too.

    I hate trying to set up reflection cubes in Twinmotion. Glad saw this video and is not just me... I’m trying to set one up for a ocean scene and the box won’t go bigger than 50m. I get all weird stuff at edges of multiple boxs that dont join well and when i go from day to night in my day cycle animation all my materials shine a odd colour... :( wish would auto update. Setting up reflection maps in Eevee in blender is so much easier. brightness helps, didn’t know had so much effect, will look into that. Thanks

      You’re welcome, reflections probes and pretty annoying but all essential unfortunately. I wish they could be larger and didn’t distort at the edges. I can inside they will be updated at some point.

    22 minutes into it, and the scale and alignment is still driving me nuts!... I’ll keep watching...

      Scale and alignment of the reflection probes is tough I will say. Hard to get it super preceise.

    Nice video! Thanks for spending the time doing them I have been doing some research regarding unreal engine and I think reflection probes project a reflection from their position in the scene, which means that in a render you should position the probe together with the camera to get a realistic effect regarding the floors and the walls (the materials). The issue is that then you lose the back of the objects... In Unreal engine is solved by putting different probes in the scene to make it work (I hope i managed to explain it in an understandable way, english is not my first lenguage) . I tried in twinmotion and it gets a bit messy. That overlap between probes is the reason why the transition exists. Everything gets very messy when you have to make a video, though. I am not 100% sure that the same mechanism applies to twinmotion but i think its worth giving it a try. I am no expert so I was wondering if you can explore a bit more since you look like you are trying to do good research on the subject. I can send you the link of the video where i got my unreal engine info from, but unfortunately it's in spanish: ruclips.net/video/CEP-kRt1g9U/видео.html

      I do understand what you are saying, it is difficult to get them to work properly and look good from all angles. Especially for animations. I end up putting them in specific places for animations or hiding them where it would look weird. I have not used Unreal enough to know how they reflection probes work, unfortunately.

    Hi there, thank you, it’s a really good tutorial and I learned what I was looking for. But for the love of god, please be more to the point and concise, as it’s a lot of ‘blab’ and no one has that amount of time. 🤪

    • @ArchitectureVanguard
      @ArchitectureVanguard  3 года назад +1

      I understand and I hear that from time to time. My philosophy is that I will spend more time to cover things is detail that no one else will. It is a matter of spending a little more time to learn a topic completely. I will take this into consideration though as I know everyone's time is valuable.
