I think it's the same thing with Gone to Soon. I had read the lyrics of Name and Purpose for Pain and the writing was in the same vein. It's very personal and authentic.

I really love this song Scott! I lost someone I dearly loved for so long. My first love. Wed promised to write to each other. I was 13 when my mother moved my family across country. She hid his letters from me and threw mine away and never mailed them. I thought he had forgotten me. I tried to commit suicide at age 14 but God brought me back. Still, I hadn't seen him in many years. Even though we were miles apart and hadn't spoken, I began to feel an urgency to find him. Finally I decided to move back and I had even traveled across the US from one coast to the other back home again to find him but I was too late. I found out that he passed away before I could see him again. But 10 days before his recorded death he came to me in a dream where we had spent one special, beautiful day together when we fell in love. In my dream, we sat on the grass again together by the same lake and just hugged each other. He asked me if I had wanted to leave him those many years before and I said "No" and that I had always loved him and I never wanted to leave him. He also said that he never wanted to leave me either. We had that chance to reconcile and I know that I will see him again in heaven. I believe that sometimes for very special reasons God allows us to travel in our dreams. Our hearts found a way. Life separated us but love brought us back together again, even if for a brief moment. Now I can move on with my life with him still a part of me. I Love this song. God bless you Scott. This song should be released and get a ton of airplay! It is a beautiful heartfelt song that I believe the vast majority of us can relate to and will play for a long time to come. Great Job Scott! I just saw him live and when he played it I was touched within seconds... I lost my sister and her best friend who were 14 turning 14 the next month in a horrific chopper crash into a festival taking the lives of 9 and injuring 18 plus those of us who damaged mentally for life... It's been 41 years now. Still crushes me and prevents me from enjoying life to the fullest. Love this song.

I’ve never heard a song that put into perspective on how I feel losing my best friend/brother and my Godson as this song does. Scott Stapp is the only artist that has ever been able to tap into my life!
I really love this song Scott! I lost someone I dearly loved for so long. My first love. Wed promised to write to each other. I was 13 when my mother moved my family across country. She hid his letters from me and threw mine away and never mailed them. I thought he had forgotten me. I tried to commit suicide at age 14 but God brought me back. Still, I hadn't seen him in many years. Even though we were miles apart and hadn't spoken, I began to feel an urgency to find him. Finally I decided to move back and I had even traveled across the US from one coast to the other back home again to find him but I was too late. I found out that he passed away before I could see him again. But 10 days before his recorded death he came to me in a dream where we had spent one special, beautiful day together when we fell in love. In my dream, we sat on the grass again together by the same lake and just hugged each other. He asked me if I had wanted to leave him those many years before and I said "No" and that I had always loved him and I never wanted to leave him. He also said that he never wanted to leave me either. We had that chance to reconcile and I know that I will see him again in heaven. I believe that sometimes for very special reasons God allows us to travel in our dreams. Our hearts found a way. Life separated us but love brought us back together again, even if for a brief moment. Now I can move on with my life with him still a part of me. I Love this song. God bless you Scott. ...this song resonates with me in that I lost my otherwise healthy & happy-go-lucky husband & best friend to pancreatic cancer at the age of 64, 2 yrs & one month ago...still finding it hard to accept...he was buried at the same cemetary as my dad who passed away at the age of 90 5 yrs ago...both are were/are veterans...RIP to my dear dad & to my dear husband.
My condolences, I lost my next to oldest brother in 2003, I'm the youngest of 6, he was my guiding light through this dark world and with him gone I've been aimlessly wandering like I'm in the dark, I miss him alot I'm always thinking of him and I know that he's looking down on me right now and smiling because of the wonderful person I've become because of his guidance in life
I lost my Grandmother two night ago. We just moved her here a few months ago so she'd be close to us so we could help take care of her. 10 years today since I lost my brother (48yo), and it's been too many I've lost since then. April (28), Timmy (52) Terry (44) FIL/Cousin James (58) and our Annabelle (puppy 6yo), and about 10 others that we know. These are just the ones that hurt to the core even these years later..
