Small mistake regarding enemy damage reduction. As of jade shadows enemy armor is capped at 2700 (which is something I did not know). Which gives 90% DR. With heat proc that goes down to 1350 (82% DR) This means that with a heat proc a 100 damage attack will deal 18 damage instead of 10 damage which is still an 80% damage increase to your attacks. My bad on that one
@@AzizTheSavage Idd but its not just the ticks, its every damage you deal. Very strong to get that for free if you just have the element modded even slightly
You forgot that enemies now have their own DR curve that is different to the one for our warframes since the armor update. That 1350 armor for them is only equal to 63.5% DR, not 82%, making a Heat proc even stronger. Instead of not quite doubling your damage it will do more than triple it. Also an important factor with Blast is that the "Detonation" effect either ONLY applies to the unit with the stacks if they expire, or ONLY to targets around them if the cap is reached or they die. You're correct that that makes rapid 10-stack builds inherently weaker than other options EXCEPT for the edge case where you can do it rapidly in an area such as Occucor or chaining beams. Then they all Detonate around each other making it very strong again.
Gas is just fun to use imo. One of my all time favorite setups so far is gas on xoris with influence, the AMOUNT of overlapping gas procs is so fun to watch - and of course, the electricity is insane by itself. Love when you do deep dives on specific topics like this!
This was a very good breakdown, I must say. But I think you left out a _crucial_ piece of the conversation around elemental modding. Which is what each status type SCALES with. Blast and Gas do NOT increase their damage with elemental damage % mods, and as such you mod them *entirely* differently from a Toxin or Electricity weapon. You did touch on Heat Inherit, which is related, but it's super important that you include some elemental% on Toxin and Electricity weapons if you want the status proc to do ANY damage. You can outsource it for Heat, but Heat is weird. You also entirely omitted the unique interaction between Blast and Xata's Whisper, even though you talked about the difference between Roar and Eclipse (I would love to learn more about how they differ btw, if you know). If you didn't know, Xata's will duplicate Blast procs, and procs that are duplicated by Xata's DO scale from elemental damage % mods! It's pretty nuts. Aznvasionsplays put out a video explaining the interaction recently.
I personally like shooting the furis and getting hundrets of heat procs in seconds with dante, his little book adds lots of slash, viral and additional heat procs to it. In a theortetical scenario where any mob would be able to survive that, i could condense all that heat and slash damage with his 4. And his birds amplify all that by like 3x3 times. So yea, i like slash and heat, juiced up by viral. But blast is also very fun, or cold, magnetic....damn they did a good job with the rework.
I would recommend phage for its innate viral as my personal favorite beam shotgun, it lets you HEAVILY weigh in favor of your chosen elemental status (heat/electric/toxin) because the innate is relatively small and frees up a slot or two and/or stat on your riven, which is extra tasty. The only downside I could see is the weirdness of the charge up/having to aim, but I got used to it relatively quickly. Very fun weapon, if a bit quirky.
@@WispGraxxI'll have to give electric phage a comparison to amprex tho, the headshot thing I did NOT know, mostly just used electric on Xoris and Ceti Lacera for melee influence builds.
One thing to add for electric and gas damage types: if you have grouping ability, those damage types start scaling exponentially as each enemy hit, will also damage all other grouped enemies.
Something niche for you to maybe try is Vectis Prime with Primed Chamber and Electricity. I’ve got a very good riven that gives -mag so no need for depleted reload. It will chain the electric proc(s) around the enemies for 100-200+ million per shot in stp depending on your mod loadout.
I have a question. Several, actually. When do electricity and gas deal headshots? Afaik, you only talked about that they can, not how. How does it work? Is it random chance that the gas/electricity hits the head? Does the proc have to come from a headshot? And does that guarantee that the status proc will deal headshots? Do I have to keep hitting headshots? Or do I just need the initial one to proc deadhead once, and it goes from there? I was hoping you would explain that bit more. Otherwise, I'm just semi-copying your build and still have no clue if and why I should build or play a certain way. Thanks!
To get headshots from elec, gas you just need to headshot with the intiial hit. For gas it seems to be a bit random since its a cloud that lingers. For electricity its consistent. They will just proc deadhead after with the dot and proc the stacks so u can keep them up
One thing I love about the 2700 armor cap is that it makes polarize super viable as an armor strip and opens up build variety on my mag. Also, not sure if this is true or bugged from recently, but it seems like gas ignores acolyte damage attenuation? I was able to deal 9,000,000 damage ticks on them during a disruption level cap run yesterday because of it on my lex prime incarnon.
A question for the Gas/Perigale section: would it be possible to swap out a mod for electric procs to possibly spread procs to other targets beyond the initial first gas proc target? If not, (I'm not 100% certain if electric can help spread other procs without Melee Influence) would it be possible to accomplish this with a companion (Diriga or a Hound with Synergized Prospectus) or by using a primer using electric (ie Epitaph or Xoris primer build with Melee Influence)? Apologies for the long winded 2nd question but I legitimately can't think of a better way to explain it. 😅
Would u ever prioritize the rifle elementalist mod over the prime bane of grineer? Is it worth stacking them ever? I have been messing around with mutalist cernos a lot since the status update. I really like electric to make corosive, electric, and toxin. I have some really interesting rivens ive been hoarding, negative impact is pretty interesting but the loss of 90 percent ips is confusing because the arsenal stats are misleading (especially with that multiplicative co)
Yea, for a DoT focused build using both is a BIG damage increase. So rivens that do give u a bane mod for the grineer faction for example is something I personally search for when I am going for that type of build
I can't help but feel like Gas is just a worse electricity though. Kind of silly that it can effectively only have one stack while electricity gets to stack infinitely and also have all of the same proprties as Gas (other than lingering)

i started using blast on some snipers, namely vectis and rubico, which gives them aoe capabilities. Also trying it on my beloved Veldt, but it only feels good on low level, up to sortie 3 or early SP, then it falls off harshly. yes and no.. The damage itself is a % of your own damage so it takes into acc the bullet that hits the target. But hitting other targets with the blast effect will not increase that damage per status affecting the target

Hey it is okay to correct your self. It is weird how the damage increase ended up the same as the new DR.
The formula for enemy DR is 90% x √(net armor ÷ 2700) so 1350 armor would be 63.6% DR
You forgot that enemies now have their own DR curve that is different to the one for our warframes since the armor update.
