      ***** I love it!!! Silky smooth, refined, quiet, and downright silent when it's stopped. I am getting Conti DWS installed tomorrow. Curbed wheels fixed later this week. Tint put on Friday and detailed hopefully this weekend.
      I already had the driver's seat foam redone, so it's much more plush now. I also took it to my mechanic here (even though I had a PPI at Lexus in the city I bought it in) and he said it looks great, and I'm good to go. So I'll fix up the small cosmetic issues, and then do my 90k service in another month or so. What an amazing car!

      +Give it up for Jackson Heights own, Mr. Randy Watson lol thts great to hear i know the feeling. you should be happy to know that i own a 2001 ls 430 mint pearl white on beige 198k miles dead silent at stop light. ive had it a tear now. only thing fixed was a brake light lol. ls 430 is best used car out there period!

      ***** That's great to know! I just sold my 97 Camry to a young girl going into the Air Force. Car had 240k miles on it and everything worked, even the original AC. I owned that car 16 years and had bought it with 31k miles. Based on that alone I know this Lexus will treat me right if I take care of it, and I'm meticulous with my cars. And what a bargain. I bought this vehicle after it depreciated 85%. I don't know how I can drive anything else after this....I can't imagine anything will even come close.

    You really have a to drive one to appreciate what Lexus has accomplished . This car is quiet and very smooth. I never likes Lexus at the beginning but the more I drive the Ls430 the more I likes to go out on trips. How many car in 2002 comes with a cool box to store your drink? The reason why I began to appreciate the LS was that it does everything so flawless . I call my LS old faithful , because everytime I'm thousands of miles from home I can depend on the Lex to take me home without any problems. The best car i ever own .

It's sad that Mercedes made their crappy car out of environmental safe plastic ...so again you couldn't tell me why a s class is junk after 5 years . why is it so cheap used , because it's garbage .

    An amazing car. There was a bit of resistance when Lexus came on the market in the late 80's and early 90's. That, I'm sure, had some influence on all the rewievs at that time. A bit of jealousy I suppose. Toyota/Lexus was a dangerous oponent, and they did really achieve sucsess at the american market imidieatly. Sorry for my poor english!

      Too bad. You'll find your car. I approached a woman who was pulling into a parking lot with a good-looking LS430. I walked up and said "Hello" and she promptly said, "No, my car isn't for sale". I asked, "How did you know?" She said that lots of people ask her.

      Congrats! You'll love it. Stay away from the dealers for "service" and you'll be glad you did. Good, honest independent shops will be better.
      Use the exact fluids recommended by Lexus. Never go beyond 5K mi. for oil and filter changes regardless of what brand or type of oil you use. Never use one of those quick oil change shops! The on-line Owners' Club is pretty good.

      you got point on that , quality was better in this model than the new one. The door has leather wrap panel with stitching and some the ride was softer ,which made it a perfect combination of luxury .

      The first thing I thought of when I drove an LS 430 was how much it reminded me of that w140. Big heavy feel, steering...and you had to push down on that gas pedal. Love it.

    I've owned two 1998 LS400 and one 2001 LS430. My LS430 hasn't been as flawless as my LS400's were but, still a high contender. People who like to waste money should buy a BMW or Mercedes Benz shop queen. People who want the same attributes albeit, borrowed. Should invest in the Japanese luxury of Lexus.

    • @wholeNwon
      @wholeNwon 10 лет назад +2

      I, too, have a 1998 LS 400 and hope never to part with it. The car is vastly superior to the Mercedes I've had (supplied by my company). Now when I pass a M-B on the highway, I think to myself "sucker"! I'm not sure why you state that Lexus has "borrowed" from M-B, but perhaps you have specific reasons. Personally, I don't see it.

    • @bradmedicus
      @bradmedicus 10 лет назад +5

      Lexus has always been known as the superior Japanese counterpart of German luxury sedans. Look at a 2001 LS430 and a 2001 Mercedes Benz S500 ... You'll never look at Lexus the same way again.

    • @wholeNwon
      @wholeNwon 10 лет назад +4

      bradmedicus
      I have and have long suspected that auto stylists all subscribe to the same magazines. It was actually my Italian M-B tech., who was really excellent, who suggested that I look closely at Lexus as an alternative to the company M-B products! He had examined one closely and thought it significantly superior. I think that the only way I will ever own any of the German products again is if they are gifts or if they vastly improve reliability to the point that they surpass Lexus. I doubt that will ever happen.

Buuuuuut!?....is Lexus so good that all that "crap u don"t need" is reliable to a point where distant time and use/non-use meet that make repairs something only mere mortal car companies suffer from.

    1998 - 2000 LS400 was much better looking. This review should assess whether the engine is an improvement in RELIABILITY over the old. You dont buy an LS for horsepower brag - you buy it for certainty in quality and freedom from repairs.

      wholeNwon I've driven BMWs (which make you feel like you are constantly flexing your forearm muscles) and Mercedes (which feel cheap and ostentatious) but the firm finesse of a Lexus never gets tired. Lexus' supremacy is probably why there are so many german fanboy haters online and in reviews.

      i don't think there's anything i'd trade my LS 400 for, not even a brand new LS. the 1998-2000 was just the perfect balance of classical and modern at the same time, i've still yet to find something that gives you that ahhhhhhh feeling when you get into it after a long day and start driving. it just does EVERYTHING so well... you don't want to get out because you know that wherever you go next won't be as comfortable lol
