We took the train from Hallstadt to Feldkirch deciding to skip Vienna because we where going on to Prague from Munich later. Now, some might think chosing FeldKirch instead of zvienna to be odd. However, I wanted to go through the Tyrol by train. I am glad I did. This train route is just gorgeous. I was in various parts of Switzerland later and let me tell you? Switzerland has nothing over Austria. Both are great do not get me wrong but I found Austria to have something over Switzerland. Hard to explain. Cheers!
Did this exact route last year,innsbruck-zurich, stunning scenery, mountains, lakes especially ,zurichsee at thalwil nice video, off to Austria later this year,Graz...
Such a beautiful part of the world. I traveled that line a couple of times in 1971 and then again in the early '90s. I have to admit that I like the Schengen area and euro. Carrying multiple currencies back than was a challenge. I was always spending more than I thought! I hope you got a chance to visit the beautiful botanical garden in Innsbruck. It's wonderful.
Agree! Unfortunately, I didn't have much time in Innsbruck this time, but I will definitely visit the botanical garden the next time I visit, thank you for the information!
This question requires a little more information. When the train leaves Zurich the better views are on the left in the direction of travel. When the train arrives as Buchs, the Swiss locomotive in the front is released, and an Austrian locomotive is attached to what was the back of the train. Therefore, when the train leaves Buchs, what was the left side of the train is now the right side of the train. Traveling from Buchs to Innsbruck the better views are on what is now the left side of the train in the direction of travel. I agree that the better views are on the left side of the train when traveling through the Alps, but this means traveling on the right side of the train when leaving Zurich, or if possible switching seats at Buchs.
Thanks to all for your kind and informative answers but please just advise one more thing Is this route usually busy or not like if I want to change seats right to left or the other way around will I get the chance to do it and is it allowed?
I have taken this trip several times. It never gets old. One of the most beautiful sections of track in Europe imo.

Which side window seat is better for views right or left
Choose seats on the left side for the best views.
