I wish more people were open minded enough to understand that metal can be moving and beautiful.

This band is my favourite of all time.... I find that the best way to enjoy them is to listen to entire albums.... They are sonic journeys

Everything's great. Red Sea, Celestial, Oceanic, Panopticon. The music sounds like the album's titles, which is rare.

Well, I do not agree, I love In the Absence of Truth and Wavering Radiant as well.
This is the kind of band that made such great albums that it is really difficult to pick one out. I do not really have a best pick in their discography, it's all worth checking out!

Its awesome stuff. It eventually led me to falling in love with post black metal as well. Bands like Alcest, Enslaved, and Altar of Plagues.

@@stevenewsom3269 Check out Wildernessking, all their albums and EP's are on bandcamp, really good post-black band, or at least I think so.

Your comment about this was more like a heavy metal synphony rings truer than you think. Because Aaron always says their music is mostly just guitar theatrics, so it has that FULL sound like an orchestra. They fully utilize the nook and cranny of their spacs as musicians, thats why their music always rewards you on multiple listens.

Shout out to B.C. Meyer, he never gets the credit he deserves for the fullness of their sound, especially on live shows. He would be switching from guitar to keys, all while going back and forth to the computer and pedal switches, crazy multitasking and musicianship.

Post-Metal is basically just slow-evolving vibe metal haha. Best way to put it really. It has some "doom" characteristics. It tends to have some repetition and it tends to have big climactic waves referred to as "crescendos".

    • @TheAdventuresofTNT
      @TheAdventuresofTNT  3 года назад +5

DOOM!!!!!! Yes! Thats what it felt like. I wasn't sure so I didnt want to say anything.

@@TheAdventuresofTNT It's basically mixing sludge metal with post rock. I met a lot of the people in the formative bands and they started changing the sound after listening to Mogwai.

Palms is these guys with Chino Moreno singing. Saw Palms live in a small club about 5 years ago. It was one of the best live shows I have ever witnessed. Isis is a great band. If you like this check out a post metal band I like alot, This Will Destroy You. Check out their son A Three Legged Work Horse, one of the most beautiful songs you will ever hear.

  • @theblackestvoid

What a lovely reaction. Yeah Post metal is like instrumental doom influenced sludge metal but that mixes post rock, which is where the crescendos and melody and delay guitars come from. So whilst sludge metal was heavy and crushing, post metal adds post rock to that sound. Just huge crunchy guitars and melodies with delayed effects. This follow up album was more melodic compared to the incredibly ultra acclaimed Oceanic but this is an incredible song. Cult of Luna are the best of the genre and probably the most beloved and the song Finland is a great place to start. I would just listen to their albums Salvation and Somewhere along the highway(generally regarded as their best work).

I love this song so much. I’m not sure if there’s any one specific meaning to it and it’s sorta left to your interpretation. What I get from the lyrics is (I’ll paste lyrics below) :
    “Our skin worn thin
    Our bones exposed
    Life reduced to ticks”
-This seems straightforward to me in the idea that we are only here briefly on earth.
“From forest caves and azure skies
    We crashed upon this earth
The years, they passed and so did we
    Yet, resistance would be formed”
-After this section how I take this as a whole is that Aaron Turner may sorta be describing a concept of this sorta weird duality that exists within humanity, we are very much mortal and delicate and exposed to the elements but at the same time we adapt to our environment both physically and mentally both on a individual level and societal level. I mean throughout the history of mankind we’ve always been subjected to suffering but yet we find a way to adapt and overcome. I mean there’s that age old saying “necessity is the mother of invention” . We may be mortal and only last x amount of years but one constant throughout the history of our species is the continuous yearning to adaptation and overcoming obstacles thrown at us wether it’s from Mother Nature or just simply part of the human condition.
