This episode (December 1966) was written by Theodore Sturgeon, but you can clearly see the influence of the Polish writer Stanislaw Lem, who wrote on 1961 the novel Solaris, about a planet which ocean is able to make humans wishes come true.
Dr. McCoy: On this supposedly uninhabited planet, I just saw a large white rabbit wearing a gold watch in his vest. Me: *Putting my arm around nothing but thin air* Well say hello, Harvey..... 😂
I just mentioned that without reading the comments. I guess it wasn't worth re-shooting just because McCoy was doing his best John Travolta at the Oscars impression.
When I first watched this scene on DVD, I had to pause it because I broke out laughing for a good 3 minutes. There’s a goddamn Easter Bunny in Star Trek, constantly lorded as the greatest sci fi series of all time. It was so unexpected I couldn’t help myself.
Plot twist: McCoy wasn't seeing a white rabbit and little girl because he was on an entertainment planet, he was seeing them because he was tripping balls from all the drugs he was taking.
"Good. I've got a personal grudge against that rabbit, Jim."
I think that's up there alongside "Where in the galaxy, are you going to find Spock's brain?" for McCoy classics.
:)
Rabbit: "OH! Oh my paws and whiskers! I'll be late!"
McCoy: "Yep I've been in space *WAY* to long."
Wow! It's an actual age-appropriate actress playing Alice.
The way he just exclaims "ZULU!!", perfect!

Lem and Sturgeon are two of my most favorite SF authors! They deserve a wider readership in today's SF world!

I couldn't stop laughing when I saw this... how did they come up with this?!
Just, McCoy's pointing :3
@Brooks the Sherlockian I wholeheartedly agree lol
mushrooms
Haha, i love the bit where Bones sees the Rabbit and Alice! :P
OMG, McCoy, follows the rabbit, Kirk follows the young girl! LOL
Deforest Kelly had one hell of a knack for comedy!
"You follow the rabbit, I'll backtrack the girl." No surprise there, Kirk.
I think the writers liked the story of Alice In Wonderland there are at least four references I know of in the series.
greatest star trek scene ever!!!
"Oh! My paws and whiskers. I'll be late!"
And Deforest Kelly would later have to go up against an army of giant mutant rabbits in "Night of the Lepus".
Is this true?
@@mkaplan1383 Sadly, yes. A bizarre movie, strictly drive-in.
Dr. McCoy says "ADLES in wonderland." I always thought it was Alice. But never mind that. Great episode.

Just Finished watching this Episode It never gets Old.
2:29 Anyone else expecting Elmer Fudd to just casually show up?
Shhhhhhhh Elmer is hunting wabbits
Funny how there was a jab towards "Night of the Lepus" even though its he saw Alice in Wonderland.
This is a classic that still is great in 2022

Mccoy was my favourite!
when McCoy saw the rabbit, he want say "seems legit"
Plot twist: McCoy wasn't seeing a white rabbit and little girl because he was on an entertainment planet, he was seeing them because he was tripping balls from all the drugs he was taking.
I wish Spock saw the Rabbit XD
Wow. Miniskirted official staff.
Addleson Wonderland? Nobody else ever caught that?
So sweet :)
And you don't see that everyday o.o
...............yep, it's the '60s.
He should've said "This reminds me of like the cheapest low budget Alice in Wonderland production that I can imagine..."
Mike vs Jay Trivia video sent me here.
*RABBIT POWER!* 🐇
ANd they said Lost in Space was Silly!
go ask Alice when she’s 10 feet tall
Dr. McCoy never heard the song "White Rabbit" but Monk had.
How did Emily Banks keep a straight face while acting through this silliness?!
That gal's skirt is so short at 2:12. You can almost see the business!
Back in the late 60s that was a variation on a "miniskirt"...
Roddenberry always found some beautiful actresses to fill out those Trek costumes. Emily Banks was one of the best!
I wonder where this was shot at?
Here for RLM
Ha, yeah. I just saw that recently, too. How ironic. ;)
Why not? That's where all the fun is. :D
best lookin yeoman ever,,,why didnt they keep her??
Kirk's backtracking the girl. Of course.
Aces.
Of COURSE Jim will “backtrack” the girl.
Was the White Rabbit's line spoken by the actor, William Blackburn?
Yes sir!
Hmm....I thought he never had dialogue.
@@broann4138 well, either the IMDb trivia entry is wrong, or he was just the actor inside the rabbit suit. We may never know...
@@MDConker Yeah I think he was both.
Most everyone is mad here.
I'm i the only one who saw a little person on the screen
I want to go on this planet , i have a alot of guys i want to fight from high school
They will taunt you with their best Irish accents!
I think the planet was created and manned by the Borg to study humans for eventual assimilation.
IF U think that U have NOT seen the entire episode.
Anyone know who the child actress was?
Marcia Brown
Kirk...? No don't follow the girl o.e
Curse you phelous, cuz he reviewed Night of the Lepus
Mustache McCoy.
Can he do a costume design for me? Damn. :P
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What is Ice Capades?
I love you McCoy, but your acting in this episode stinks.
