Thanks. That means a lot to mean. It takes creativity when you aren’t on a guitar with 9’s for the little E string and you don’t have Hendrix style distortion.
@@jefflittle4427 Yup. I have a Guild jazz box which is a great guitar, but sitting down comfortably I will always reach for either the Tele or the SG. Comfort rules!
DB+ into a Keeley Pro Compressor, into a Line 6 Helix with a Michael Britt IR for a cab. I use a Kemper now, connected 4 wire into the Helix and get a better tone usually. This one Helix patch is pretty good for Jazz though, but Michael Britt IRs for the Helix and Kemper put each one over the top. I really like the analog pedals like the DB+ and the Keeley compressor. I usually keep a low-medium amount of compression on for jazz licks. Hope that helps.
I've tried several of these at GC I thought that sucked. One of my buddies has one that's had a little work done (minor fretwork, 13-54 flats, better Bartolini pickup) that sounds killer into his old Polytone Mini-Brute. It's got that classic Jim Hall/Joe Pass vibe. Have you done anything to your EXL-1 and are you still playing it?
Chris Nowak, left the strings that came with the Guitar. Feel like 10’s. Pick is the standard Gravity pick... JHS Logo'd Picks - Classic Standard 1.5mm Unpolished. I love their picks for everything and every style. Smooth picking action on speed passages.
@@jefflittle4427 I have an EXL-1 for sale (gorgeous natural honey finish, with the best neck I've ever experienced). What did you pay for yours, if you don't mind me asking?
@@HandyBendyGandhi, I got a stupid deal of the day and I remember it was half price, so I guess I got lucky. It showed up a few times at Musicians friend for half price after I bought it.
That tone is amazing! Great playing as well
Old school shredding, so much easier on the ears than any of the new stuff. Great job, thanks for posting.

Man, I can’t find the correct word to describe the guitar’s beautiful tone!
sir that was awesome!
I just managed to stop drooling over this guitar for long enough to comment on how much I enjoyed your playing ;)
Thanks Robert. I enjoy creating a bit. This was my first attempt to jam to my doing a loop on the Helix.
You're great! I also appreciate just the playing.
Thanks for the compliment. Just improvising a bit.
That was masterful my friend ...... !!!! 😄😄😄😄💯
Thanks. I am not a full fledged jazz guy, but I wanted a guitar to try and sound like one...smile.
Sweet. Thanks.
I’ve had mine for 4 years
Nice picking and perfect tone!
Thanks. I like the tone of this guitar too. Wish it was smaller…smile.

So smooth thinking on buying one! Please could you tell me your amp?
Just used a Line 6 Helix with a Michael Britt IR. AC30 type amp if I recall.
Wow, you look like Victor David Hanson ✌🏻
Funny…I used to get mistaken for Doug Flutie when I was younger…smile.
👍👍👍

No, it is stock. I just played it for an hour this morning and love the guitar. Actually love that old style pickup hollow body sound.
Nice! String gauges? Pick?

I want to solo freely just like that
Sounds good for two grand.
It is actually the least inexpensive guitar I have ever bought. MusiciansFriend had this one on Stupid Deal of the Day, so I couldn’t turn it down.
@@jefflittle4427 I heard that, if I had the cash I'd jump on it really fast.
