PHASE 2 speaks, 1989, at the Black & White in Colors Gallery

PHASE 2/PHASE TOO/FÁSE 2 was an all around innovator in the development of 'writing' in New York City, the aesthetic process that included drawing, signing, painting, most prominently with aerosol spray cans. Through mass media, 'writing' became known as 'graffiti', what PHASE 2 called the 'g' word, which he saw as derogatory. This interview was conducted by Ivor Miller in the process of writing Aerosol Kingdom: Subway Painters of New York City (University Press of Mississippi, 2002).
