THANK YOU!! Ive recently gone up from Rookie level to Semi-pro and the faceoffs were the only thing that I couldnt do at all. This is the only tutorial that actually helped.
Since when did faceoffs get so difficult that u need to watch a tutorial to win one nhl 24 is garbage anyway i am glad i waited for it to go on sale before i bought it boooo
lol thank god I’m not alone in that. Just bought it on sale. Havnt had one in a decent while. Like nhl 16. Why do the older ones like 12 and 14 and shit feel so much more fluid. These feel horrible. Don’t like the passing stick controls on some settings feel bad. And penalty’s are ridiculous in this
@dylanpartridge6959 I had to turn penalties off they were making lose games getting penalty after penalty playing best part of the game down two players 5 on 3 haha brutal
The last NHL game I played was the latest one on PS3 and I was great at faceoffs. I got a PS5 recently and was constantly losing faceoffs. They definitely changed it over the years and this saved me. Specifically the part on having the player set and don't switch it around/flinch. Also the rotate, I was just going straight down to 5 or 7 oclock. Had no idea.
Is there any reason why they don't let you just practice faceoffs? I feel like there was an NHL game in the past that would let you practice just faceoffs. I feel like if they're going to just have rubberband AI for the higher difficulties to save time on production then they should have all the time in the world to put in a slightly better training so you can practice.
After just pushing down on the stick in the previous NHL games like NHL 22 and NHL 24 I have played about three games and had over 50 face offs and I haven't won a single one until I watch this tutorial right here and after watching the tutorial I won like the next three faceoffs so thank you super much I really appreciate it
This is the only detail tutorial for a NHL 24! Never played hockey this is extremely frustrating.. and it sucks that I can't find many tutorials I can't find anything
By the way, do the controls work on every difficulty mode? I am currently learning it on Semi-Pro, but I do not know which options to select in the Quick Settings section.
I seriously need help with faceoffs. I literally win like 3 a game. In past NHL games I've always been about even with the ai. Is there a practice mode for faceoffs? I can't find one in the menus.
So glad to see this! I think most tutorial videos are made by experts who are kind of condescending and just assume everyone's a former player or coach. I don't know the difference between forehand and backhand grip.... and frankly I don't care. So many of us just want to pick up the game once every few weeks and have a nice casual game. And I swear EA purposely made the faceoff much harder. I remember the good old days when you could do faceoffs as simply as a well-timed pull back on the right stick. They've forced us now to all this forehand, backhand, stick lift stuff that I don't understand (and don't really care to). You don't want it to be just button mashing either but there should be a simpler way to do this.In previous versions I would set difficulty 15-25 and if I really worked hard I could manage close to 50%. Now I set it at zero and still lose every single time.
Please more videos about this and how to use each strategy and if possible what each setting does and what to use to counter certain settings, sorry if noob questions
This video will get a boost in views. With the game coming out on EA play. Most newbies just pull back on the stick at the drop. Instead of Rotating back.
Do these rules apply to all controller settings like, skill stick, hybrid, and total control? In be a pro it I will be holding the R stick to the right and keep getting hit with the “to early” warning smh.. I use total control when I play..
Last NHL game i played was NHL98.... ive been tapping X to try and win a faceoff.i was wondering why i never won one yet..... how do i shoot the puck at the net?
I can’t play anything above Semi-Pro, even when I hold the grip it says I’m not holding the grip and I lose every single faceoff. Is there something I’m missing
Right stick only, hold to the left or right and before the referee throws the puck, use the stick in a downward circular motion. and the face off is won
How do you win or best being tied up? Once they realize they can't out time me or beat me on the face off they just start grabbing me and I can't stop it and then it kind of goes down to one of my teammates grabbing the puck how do you beat this
It is physically impossible to win face offs in this game Edit: after watching this video a few times and trying a few more times, my point still stands. 😢
After countless videos and online threads you mean to tell me all I had to do was hold the RS/RA left or right this ebtire time finally Im winning some faceoffs!! EA this was a simple fix you need to tip this man for doing your job!! 😊
Rotate it from point a to point b. If you put it in rookie and are inconsistently winning draws, than it is likely that you are timing the puck drop wrong
Thank you very much. This was the 4th vid i have watched on faceoff and none of the 3 helped at all just jibberish. After watching this one i went from from winning 1 maybe 2 faceoffs a game to half or better.
you seem to state the stick can be changed from fore to back hand. Sadly, can't do that on my PS4. No result at all. Wish you showed the hand controls and the player actually reacting.
Please make a video on DEKING and SHOOTING out of the faceoffs.. I keep getting the coaching suggestions to do it but still can’t figure it out. Everything else with the faceoffs are so easy a caveman can do it 😂 but shooting and deking, not so much. Thanks bro! 😎
I wouldn't listen to the coaching suggestions, deking or shooting off the draw only work when the other person does not set or isn't playing. BUT, if you feel like trying, shooting is as easy as just pushing up on the stick you use to shoot when the puck is being dropped and deking is tapping LB/L1 while pressing up on both sticks as the puck is being dropped!
Clockwise to the 12 o’clock position from the 9 o clock position if you are on your forehand and counterclockwise to the 12 o clock position from the 3 o’clock position if on your backhand
I did that it never worked once every time I move my right analog stick over too three or nine o’clock it starts moving say too early so i don’t get it

People are coming to this video to quickly learn the basics of how to win a faceoff 2. Slow down. I know it conflicts with #1 but there are times you are speaking like you are rapping rap God. I'm a native English speaker so I can understand you, but id imagine non-native speakers often get lost 3. I appreciate you actually slowing down the gameplay and showing the controls on the screen when talking about the face off. The first video I watched of yours talking about face offs felt like it was impossible to follow what you were saying since the gameplay was at regular speed with no on-screen guides in terms of buttons to press. Anyways I appreciate you making these videos since I got NHL 24 and I haven't really played in NHL in forever and couldn't feel the life of me figure out how to win one. First game against the computer I went 1 for 24 rofl
I just bought a PS4 pretty much only so I could play this game, and holy shit am I ever disappointed. NHL Legacy for PS3 is a way better hockey game. The controls are bad enough as it is, but this idiotic way they force you to take faceoffs is the most annoying part. Hopefully this tutorial helps me win a single faceoff, because I didn't win any in my first game. I don't understand why they don't give you an option to use classic controls where all you need to do is push X at the right time to win a faceoff.
Why the F did they make this so complicated. I haven't played since NHL08 and the last I really remember was NHLPA 93. Just do the "hit the x" button and randomly give it to someone. I mean what the F is this shi.
Total beginner, but nothing here is working for me. I hold down, twist, press, do all sorts of stuff with that right button and it seems to do absolutely nothing. Sigh.

For me the faceoffs in NHL are what makes the NHL no longer interesting. Much too complicated to win a face-off for nothing. I'm glad I didn't have to pay for this crappy game!

I love hockey love nhl games, but I stop liking some after 2005 and stop buy them then too cause EA started making them to comlicated

@@RevivedLegacy the easiest explanation is hold left or right on the right analog and slide the joystick down when the ref starts dropping the puck, I won most of my face offs lastnight by doing that

Agreed. It's utter BS
