Those are Cabbage Palms, also known as Sabal palmetto or Sabal Palms, but you will also see California Fan Palms along the coast. The Cabbage Palms are native to the south.

Try going down 90 a lil further to Long beach, pass christian, bay st louis. Beaches are prettier and nice views of fancy homes and awesome seafood places to eat. The gulfcoast is a beautiful place. My sisters lives on coast.

Just remember if you move here, it is expensive. Just because we are the poorest state does not mean you get cheap housing and products. An average 2 bedroom apartment will run you about $1,400 a month and if you want to live in a house a decent one will start around $300,000. Food is very expensive here also, with 1 pound of lean ground beef costing you are pretty $8.00. The Gulf Coast is not like the rest of the state for sure. We have 16 casinos here.

I was there before the pandemic. It's a nice, quiet, small beach town, and I enjoyed myself. That was the first time in 34 years that I got a chance to eat dates straight off the tree, and I was able to take 15 pounds of blue crabs home on ice from Quality poultry and seafood.
Con: The water was shallow, murky, and far off the coast.

Yes my home town best part of Mississippi and best kept secret. I can’t believe how many people didn’t learn in school that Mississippi has a Coast like beach front area that goes for over 30 miles..lol School system is lacking.😅
