The south is truly amazing we have everything it's more than just backwoods and swamps we the beaches and mountains too I'm from Louisiana and I love love love mississippi
The best thing about the area is , it's not so "touristy" as Pensacola , PCB , and other places along the coast are. Yea. It is a tourist destination , but not crammed full on every square inch of beachfront land . Very relaxing place . I call it home......
I’m from north of Houston. My husband would love to move to Galveston. I have zero desire to move there. His family is in Atlanta, we stop often in Gulfport when we drive. I think Gulfport would be a perfect area for us. How is it there during peak tourist season?
I grew up in the Pascagoula-Moss Point area living there from Nov. '55 until June '67. What you have labeled Beach Blvd is actually US Hwy 90. The same US Hwy 90 that stretchs from Jacksonville to souther California. I dearly miss the beautiful live oaks that grew in the median on Hwy 90. The two super hurricanes that passed through did away with all of them
I live in Louisiana, about a 2 hour and 15 minute drive to the coast. We go often. We book hotels, or my friend has free casino rooms, or I book a VRBO house. We always stay at least 3 to 5 days anywhere from Bay St Louis to Biloxi. Great place. I love it.
Hi, Gulf Coast Girl. Nice video. We have been thinking about buying a condo in Gulfport to be near the gulf, but recently when we were in Grand Isle, LA we encountered a couple of snakes on the beach. Is this also an issue in Gulfport? Snakes on the beach? It was really unnerving to have this encounter in Grand Isle.
@@GulfCoastGirl . Oh yes, it was a bit scary. My wife and a friend of ours thought I was joking when I brought the revelation to their attention. When I took them to the site of the snakes they were, as I, quite astonished. The locals say it is a common occurrence.
No, but there's about to be train service- Amtrak is about to open a New Orleans to Mobile route with stops along various coast towns, including BSL and Gulfport.
Gulfports great had a business there for 30 years met a lot of good people a lot of really good restaurants like Tony's brick house pizza come on down housing will probably be half what you have to pay in the north

I'm from Baton Rouge and would travel to Gulfport just to buy PRL shirts from Gulfport Outlet. The reason why was the shirts were cheaper than buying from the malls.
The beachfront definitely gets destroyed turn on all the rivers independent on how strong the hurricane is most places have trees down roof damage structure damage. It can be devastating depending on how bad the storm is
I lived in Gulfport for 39 years. I was glad to leave. There is a lack of good jobs. The beach water is disgusting which is why you never see anyone in it. Healtcare is mediocre. The racial tension is very bad. And every 8 to 10 years the area is hit by a hurricane.
I really would like to go here really with the right person really with the person I was really trying to marry four years ago who sang a song by The Bee Gees to me on the phone whose ysa ward I was in when I was 19. He really too nice to the wrong people who are extremely evil some are really related to him and some are not but he has a beautiful soul and is very handsome.
Gulf Coast of Mississippi a southern man's paradise thank you for the video
You're welcome! It's so amazing there
That was a fun little tour of Gulfport. Thanks for taking me along! 😎
It is lovely, isn't it? :)
@@GulfCoastGirl Quite so!

It is a lovely, charming place, and I love that it's not as busy as Gulf Shores, Panama City Beach, etc. :)

I am moving here July 1st from PA. I’m a little nervous but from this video it doesn’t look too bad. Thanks for the video!
It's a nice area, small town, check out ocean springs with some foodie places and nice shops too! Good luck on your move!

This is where we came from. Many memories were made there. Most of it looks the same. When we moved the aquarium wasn’t opened yet.

No snakes on the beach on the Mississippi Gulf Coast
Wonderful video. Coming to visit next week. Is there a bus from bay St. Louis to Gulfport? Thanks.
I'm afraid I don't know of one.

❤ can you share some insight on the area? I'm considering a visit and perhaps a relocation
I was born there also in1959, at Gulfport Memorial .Graduated in 1977 at old high school
My family is headed to that area in a month and a half for vacation. Can't wait to check it out!
Have a blast with your family on the Gulf Coast!

I think we are going out that way this summer to investigate a little bit. We would like to move coastal.
It's a good area, I personally Pensacola by the Florida Gulf Coast, have a good time looking around the gulf coast!
And yes I was born in that damn state. Only I had enough sense to move at age 18. 70 now
And I'm sure you have not been missed
Sorry to hear about your experience growing up in Mississippi. :( I hope you found your happy elsewhere over the years!

Do they have hotels
More hotels than you can imagine
Lots of hotel options, and if you are willing to pop over to Biloxi, lots of casino options. Otherwise, it's Island View/Beach View Casino only.
I'm from Baton Rouge and would travel to Gulfport just to buy PRL shirts from Gulfport Outlet. The reason why was the shirts were cheaper than buying from the malls.
Good suggestion 👌
Is this the island?? if so do they have rooms??
Are you talking about the Island view casino they have about an eight-story to 10 story hotel
Everything looks dead. Where are the people? Was this early in the morning?
This has to be early in the morning cuz this place is full of people all the time
It was early, yes. I find it the best time to get around and get good video.

Does the entire city get destroyed during hurricanes or is it only the areas near the beach?
The beachfront definitely gets destroyed turn on all the rivers independent on how strong the hurricane is most places have trees down roof damage structure damage. It can be devastating depending on how bad the storm is
We've been there years and no damage other than Katrina which hit them hard there are still empty lots, but this is a great beach city
