Great to see this creative and exciting guitarist having a good workout on a blues format. Thank goodness the rhythm section is suitably restrained - and quiet enough so we can hear the soloist properly. Not always the case these days. They are obviously also great players as well as sensitive musicians.
How does a master of fusing styles like Mr. Noy get so little views but a hack, wanna-be blues guitarist like John Mayer get so much credit for his simple improv shit on Instagram? It boggles my mind. The fluidity and innovation of his style is what Music needs to progress and yet people celebrate tired cliches...
johny mayer isnt THAT popular mainly because of his guitar playing, its more the drama/personality + smaltzy popsongs he does. at least hes sprinkling in decent influences in his songs, but yeah why isnt Oz Noy in the charts? i guess we know why and we all agree its sad. Then again hes not a huge pioneer either, hes just so incredibly good at mending the styles and write groovy songs that are dirty like no other with all the wholetone and effect shenannigans thrown in that still make him incredibly fresh/hip nontheless
Cant say I ever understood the hate for Mayer, or completely tangential comparisons like this... Mayer writes pretty slick melodies, catchy hooks, and guises them as pop songs with lyrics that he knows will check all the boxes. He also turned a lot of young people on to guitar, uses complex chord voicings and clearly draws from great influences- by proxy those young people learn about Jimi, BB, SRV and the like! So I know some of you blues lawyers scoff at what he does, fact of the matter is, he is a very good player and has successfully become a rock-star in the modern age. "Neon" for example, is an incredibly complex song and yet nearly every 20-35 y/o basic white chick knows the lyrics, that is good for guitar as a represented way of making music. John is actually more of a style chameleon than someone like Noy could ever be. Noy is a guitar-god, but he is more or less riding the ever-receding tide of the "players player" sub-genres (i.e Carlton, Robin Ford) That shit will never be mainstream, doesn't mean we can love it and leave pop music to do its job! Apples and oranges...
@@gabrielm.4554 "John is actually more of a style chameleon than someone like Noy could ever be." Lost me there. Knowing how to fuse styles requires a far more in-depth foundation to begin with especially when you establish such a unique style like Noy. That's like saying Guthrie Govan couldn't play Nirvana. However, aping styles doesn't count as being a Chameleon. But, nice attempt at trying to elevate mediocrity.
I see we're dealing with someone who doesn't actually understand the difference between observing that something is well done, but not to your liking -vs- Just not liking something because value your opinion as fact. If you cant see that Oz is limited by his genre and chosen performance style, then I cant help you... Also get an original opinion dude, I could have crafted half of your room temp IQ, regurgitated "GuTHRiE gOvAn!!!!!" bullshit response before the words ever drifted through your ego-burdened mind. Get out of here with that starving artist, holier than thou nonsense. Oz is a virtuoso and John is great, but John just happens to be a MUCH better business man. Your the same kind of dude that trashes someone once they blow-up and say shit like "the wood just breathes better on pre-cbs nitro vs the new custom shop stuff" or "thats a cool strat but my Suhr custom ..." Personally, I like that guys like Oz can make a good living and not get too big, that makes its so I can go see them in a 200 seat theaters and attend workshops that wouldn't be accessible if they reach celebrity status.
if hes playin Stanard string sets the loe E IZ Sloppy, or if its gettin late at night or late at living years, your ears get sloppy with all that beer..., Cheers, Kimmo, better sloppy than slappy aye?

Totally agree,I think it might be jazz/fusion and no voice isnt accepted to the masses.
