I have been gardening for 60 years +. I do exactly like you. I start one thing and see something else and go to that. I think that I avoid areas that seem overwhelming. I also have so many Ideas that I often don't get to what I should be doing. It's my garden and it will be whatever!! You do You and live your best life the way you want. Love your excitement.
Oh wow that sounds so much like me. I’m gonna try to do different things this year and I think it’s gonna work out better. Thank you so much for your encouraging words.❤️
Dear Robbie, no embarrassment needed for your deck! You’re showing the reality so many of us face. I do not have any employees, so can only do what my two hands are able. You have so much “soil-making dried plant trimmings”! Yay! And, you have more than one video of work to show us what to do with eat plant and pot….I can’t wait❤❤❤❤
The pretty little pink flower on your deck is a dianthus. Wait! is that a garden gnome I see lurking around the bottom of your garden Everything still looks fabulous to me; it's so hard when there aren't enough hours in the day isn't it?
Oh thanks on that little cute pink flower! It sure is hard sometimes, especially when you’re dealing like here with the shortest days of the year sunlight that is. I know you’ve got summer now and we’ve got damp cold winter, but I’m still working. Take care thanks so much and stay cool. Happy New Year!❤️
Your deck looks like a real winter garden usually looks. I've got broccoli bolting now. The flowers look so pretty. We are going to be 80 on Mon. and then drop to 39 that night. My plants can't decide whether to grow or go dormant.
I know what you mean, our weather has been crazy too lately! I do think we are now changing to colder weather. This would be the time to gather up the dried out plants 😊 yet, I want to the kennel…splitting time😳 between everything with shorter days❤ I will figure it😊
It's like you're my neighbor, and I come over and hang out in your garden with you. I learn so much from you. Absolutely love it!! I'm disabled and thought I could never garden, but I have always wanted to. You've inspired me, and I'm doing it this year! Already gathering totes and chairs and have started composting. Thank you so much!!
Hi Robbie, Bad weather here all day. Been Praying 🙏 all day family all around in Tornado 🌪 warnings. Just now letting up. Storms. We should definitely be out of the drought. 😊❤
Aww give yourself some grace! You guys had a lot on your plate this year! Still love watching you guys so much and my younger kids do too! I homeschool my kids and this spring I will be having them each have their own bin(s) to learn to grow and then hopefully eat !!! Thank you guys!! ❤ ~~Melissa
Thank you Melissa, I am so glad your kids are enjoying and learning to garden. This is the perfect way to start gardening with kids 😊❤️ having that as part of their homeschooling to learn to garden is gonna be wonderful something they can use forever in their life. Thank you so very much.❤
I have to set a particular job each day as there is way too much to do. Whilst I am doing that job, something else isn't being done. It's all a part of gardening, unless you have several doppelgangers to help! 😁 I cleaned up my cherry tomatoes today, ended up using the secateurs because I was causing some damage.
Good point ❤ yes many tomato plants can be cleaned up differently with removing of dried leaves, that one can get damaged by pulling on the leaves, some other tomato plants the leave gently come off❤ Thanks
I wonder if your vining plant you showed at 12:20 is a bittersweet night shade? Or a Moth plant? Great video , you make me want to go get soil to pot up my ginger I have growing in doors. I love seeing Zoe happy in the garden with you!
Or here in the Midwest, I'd say maybe a morning glory??? Super invasive. Cut or pull one piece and if you don't get it all, it grows 10x more underground. I guess that's one advantage of having only a deck to plant in -- I don't have to deal with morning glories anymore. Edited to add: I just looked it up, and it's also called field bindweed -- and from a Reddit poster: "...Turns out bindweed can keep attempting to regrow FOR FIFTY YEARS if not removed properly...."
Hi Robbie! Oh my, you don't have to apologize about your deck. You get all kinds of great produce from it. Also, it looks the way a winter garden should look...so many plants are pooping out now or resting till spring. Besides you've been busy feeding lots of hummers and setting up your dog kennels. I know the feeling... always lots to do and so many ideas and projects to work on and never enough time to do it all in. 😊 I enjoy watching your videos and hearing the enthusiasm in your voice. It gets me in the mood to work on projects too. Thank you for being you! ☺💕🌱🌼🦋💐
Hi Robbie and Gary !!! I loved listening your voice, optimistic about everything you talking and Love for all your plants! Have a healthy happy life in your lovely home surroundings by plant and vegetable gardens !❤
The little drink carrying case from Dollar tree is great. I also use them to propagate. I bought two carriers and three packs of the small four pack pots they fit nicely into the drink holder. For $6.25 I have propagation space for 12 plants. They work great.
That has been my reaction when I go out to the patio and see all that needs to be done. It can definitely get overwhelming, especially during transitioning seasons. Don’t be embarrassed - I appreciate the reminder that we all run into challenges while gardening. Spring is going to look spectacular in your gardens!! 💚 🪴💚
Belated Merry Christmas Robbie, Gary and your family. I hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas and will have a great New Year. We were really busy over Christmas but now its time to busy planning this years garden.
Thanks for the heads up, I’m starting to figure that out as the more I pull out the holes fill in, really cool plants, I even have some growing now in the house as house plants 😊 Thanks
I saw that same tray at my local Home Depot, same price. Lowe's also sold something very close! I may have to go back and make my last purchase before next year when I promised to curb my spending! 😊😊😊. Happy New Year to you and your family!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have struggled to keep up with "the work" of gardening. It's not the same as being new not knowing alot and enthusiasm helps you plant all those tray fulls. Now 4 or 5 yes into it, the new excitement has worn off. And I'm more aware just how much work a garden is even in containers, greenhouses, wirh grow lights, perennials, still all has parts of the process that requires alot of qork.
I hear you, it is a lot of work! You have to find the balance between what you want to do and how much time you have to devote to it. For this year the deck worked for me, now I want to clean it up❤😊 Thanks
Robbie, thanks so much for sharing the deck. I sometimes get discouraged because my container garden looks so messy. We have a LOT of wind where I live, and there was a huge windstorm about three or four weeks ago. I was out grooming my tomato plants and discouraged because so many of the branches were dying. I now realize it's because the wind broke a lot of them and then they started dying off. Fortunately the plants themselves have survived. Again, thanks for showing how your deck garden looks without lots of upkeep. It's very encouraging, at least for me.
I’m so glad it is encouraging for you, I appreciate that. 😊 Keep in mind, especially when growing food, the plants may not always look good if we don’t keep up with them, but generally, they’ll still keep producing and feeding us, as my messy deck did all year❤️ Thank you for your encouraging words😊❤️
I asked Gary that same thing, he did not know, you may be right, but the leaf seems different, I wonder if I planted a piece of something, or a bird brought it in…Thanks
It you run a board long and bit wide trough all your deck border, and pur all the pots in line with just some scattered,it would do wonders for the aestetic of your deck garden.

If you do not have any thing, you can start with a potting soil, the cheaper Miracle Grow will work.

The vine looks a lot like clematis. But I could be mistaken.
I totally agree! CLEMATIS!!! 👍❤️😀 Liz
I think the leaf looks to long and pointy, but not sure you could be right?
Hi Robbie, you shouldn't need to buy another tray of sedums; given the space, they will propagate rapidly on their own.

What is a mushroom plant and what do you do with it?
It is a green leaf herb, it is hard to find, easy to propagate, and it taste like mushrooms so you added to salad to stirfry rice whatever you want

How do I find the mushroom plants you have? All I can find is actually mushrooms to grow.
I will admit it took me time. I had a hunt around, but it’s an herb so you’ve got to see who sells it.

Hummingbird Lunch or any Cuphea plant, salvia plants, honeysuckle, emu bush, they love citrus flowers, most flowering plants with bell shape to it. ❤

Hummingbirds also love the Scarlet Runner bean flowers!
