You’re right they don’t do the covers like they used to man. I actually watched a VHS last night. There’s just nothing like the experience and it brings back some good nostalgic memories. Love this video dude
The trailers and promotions in the beginnings are also so fantastic. I have so many VHS tapes and the feeling is fantastic when you put them in the VCR, when they go through that tracking period, and best of all are the trailers/promotions plus that "NOW PRESENTING YOUR FEATURE PRESENTATION" announcement.
I'll be getting a decent laptop with some of student loans so all movies, shows, and games will now be forever on hard drives, but will be nice to save the room plus it'll help with my OCD lol. But yeah remembering going to vidiots and renting tremors, and all the new movies at that time, putting it on channel 3, making popcorn, and then the absolute fucking joy of not having commercials, to me is some of the best memories of my early childhood. Think the actual touch, smell, sound, and clarity of vhs automatically sets people back in a happy place. Because once you think about it there was no streaming or tons of channels it was getting dressed, riding down the road talking about what movie you wanted, looking through all the movies and making sure it was in stock, getting snacks, coming home and getting everything set up for movie night. God I miss stuff like that 😔
Vhs had to work on their covers to get people to rent them, thats why they have such amazing covers! Everytime I see those sweet, sweet tapes on your shelves, makes me want to start getting some... Course, my wife might divorce me since I already buy a ton of DVDs
Stuff on VHS that's not on DVDs, Blue Rays, 4K, or streaming... 1) Some movies (like Jean Claude Van Damn movies, etc.) 2) visual/physical VHS artwork (such as on Dragon Ball Z vhs taps, on the front and sides collectively) 3) Older Trailers/prieviews/promos (such as in many movie releases/show releases such as Batman/Superman World's finest, Kids' WB/SPace Jam soundtrack previews on Space Jam, Digimon prieview on Titan AE, Fox Kids previews on Digimon the movie, etc.) 4) Paramount "We now bring you.." intros on Paramount and Nickelodeon tapes 5) Nickelodeon intros on vhs tapes (the 90's ones had the "Nick .. Nick" wackyland-esque version, as the early 2000's ones had the two kids running through an orange maze). 6) Certain footage (Star Wars, etc.) 7) Certain audio dubs, etc. that's on very few dvds (Dragon Ball Z) 8) etc.
Normally if people don't care about VHS, it's because they see it as an outdated format with inferior picture quality. But people who collect them will do so for nostalgia and affordability. I have an interest in collecting VHS because many of them are cheap. About 2 years ago I was at Good Will and found a sealed copy of ET for 99 cents. As for the quality, I often thought if people can upscale a retro gaming system, is it possible to do the same with a VCR?
Great job people like myself are buying vhs movies offline from ebay for 10 dollars now days people like myself are fixing vhs movies with Scotch tape it starts playing again with out no problem's everything proven vhs tapes don't stop playing at all it's your VCR player itself what stop playing y people don't let people know about mode switches in VCR players gets dirty in time it doesn't play at all or sometimes it starts eating tapes y the mode switch needs a cleaning out bad if you don't know what a mode switch is you can go online and say how clean out a mode switch in a VCR player every other videos online will come up on your phone what you need to see
You should check out cinemasickness on here he collects movies too but he collects each movie on every format it was made on from beta up also check out coolduder he's been in some indepent horror films and has a massive DVD collection he was in haunted high with Danny trejo

I just started collecting VHS. Trying to limit myself to 100 at most because I don't want my collecting to become hoarding.

The hunt is fun, But finding a VHS you want in mint condition is really where the fun is at. So many disgusting cases out there.
