I normally fast forward through vloggers doing ads in their videos, but I hung around to listen to your experience (vloggers tend to do more of a vulgar/pushing the limits of decency with their sales pitch for $1 shave club...well car guys do at least). It felt smooth, genuine and unrehearsed Pete, great job man. Throw in some more of you military stories in your videos (branch,MOS, time in etc) I served 05-09 with the Army , and did one tour during OIF IN 07/08. They showed me the door when I ripped my knee off (blessing in disguise).
Thank you for your service Michael. I'll try to throw in more stories. I was trying to do the $1 shave without being like everyone else. Just a mention, I'm all about valuable content.
Pete, I sense a resurgence in the desirability of the RB Mopar, that doesn't seem to exist with big blocks from the other manufacturers of the same era, Ford's FE 390-427, their 385 series, 429-460 or Chevy's 396-427-454. I do know many in the Chevy camp, these days, want an LS between the fenders of their machine (not necessarily a big block though, most are 350-370 inches approx.) And most of the Ford guys are running either a Windsor of various displacement, or dreaming of a 5 liter Coyote powerplant. Is this what you're seeing? Seems most Mopar guys who aren't running a new Charger or Challenger, are mashing on a RB Wedge! So glad you're teaching the class on how to build the 440 the right way!
I am seeing that. Mostly because LS parts are cheap and plentiful like Windsor and Coyote parts. It may not last too long because RB blocks are getting harder and harder to find. It will eventually get to be too expensive to build any engine of the era. You'll have to start with a Dart or World block and those are out of reach for the average builder/hobbyist.
Don't see a resurgence on the left coast. These days, all 3 brands have interesting late model crate engines. Naturally, Barton, big al and Indy offer rb crate engines but have done so over 20 yrs. The only fresh interest I see is the cackle fests getting popular, and that entails firing up 392 and 426 hemis...technically, the 426 is an rb.
I'm going to say that all that attention to detail will squeeze 430hp out of this combo... That is probably high for iron heads and a 750 carb but im keeping my fingers crossed.
400 horsepower Pete! Iron heads, mild hyd. cam and 750 cfm carb and I'm sure she'll run strong for a very long time! I can sure use some of that shaving butter, and I won't put it on my toast!
I'm guessing 392. I know you build Awesome engines and this number is low because you mentioned budget a few times during your build process and options leading me to believe it isn't a B's to the wall engine even though capable.
BTW I watch your videos since Cobra engine build series - in my opinion the videos have improved a lot in terms of entertainment. Now they are much more easy to watch without the hard instruction speech - thanks for that. Nevertheless I will stick to the mach 3 razor and gel we received in starter kit at German army. To support your work Im rather interested in mugs or key tags.

Yeah, Army is no love when it comes to injuries. they'll hack a fix, and toss ya out. Go army, 96 GSR, 1996-1999.

Pete, that is awesome about the contests and dollar shave club. My guess is 431 hp.
