    In my primery school they teach cursive in fact it took me a long time to convince my teachers to let me not write in cursive (they only let a few people not write in cursive) I still do a mix between cursive and normal writing (they still teach cursive in my primery school)

    • @susantunbridge4612
      @susantunbridge4612 2 года назад

      "primAry". Cursive IS 'normal writing. Calligraphy is a visual art that's related to writing.
      Everyone should learn cursive writing, and teachers are stupid if they don't teach it. It's very good for your brain to write longhand. Longhand is another word for cursive.
      "Cursive (also known as script, among other names is any style of penmanship in which characters are continuously joined together in a flowing manner, generally for the purpose of making writing faster, in contrast to block letters.
      It varies in functionality and modern-day usage across languages and regions; being used both publicly in artistic and formal documents as well as in private communication. "Formal" cursive is generally joined, but "casual" cursive is a combination of joins and pen lifts."
      I write in casual cursive, and most people do.

    You need a flex nib. And no matter whether you use cartridges or converters, clean your pen whenever you change inks. Not all formulations play well together and may clog the feed and nib.

    • @Calligrascape

      Definitely have to get a flex nib. Also thanks for the heads up, I'll be sure to clean it.

    I’m like 15 & the only one in my class that uses a fountain pen. Plus I learnt how to write in fancy weighting from my mam. She thought me how to wright because my primary school wanted to tech everyone plane weighting and they were teaching everyone to connect the letter r with other letters and then the r would look like a n so my mam was like ima teach you how to properly wright.

    Where I live you only use cursive for the entirety of elementary school. So until you are 11 or 12 that's all you are allowed to write. It is sad that in English speaking countries, cursive styles of writing are disappearing.

    I went to an inner-city school, located in the Peaky Blinders area of an English city. Teachers were violent, abusive and controlling.
    I think people develop their own unique handwriting after they are away from education establishments. Learning calligraphy softens the character of a person. I haven't killed anyone who writes badly.

    To everybody complaining about the X. Yes, it _is_ the correct way. Not for D'Nealian, but for Copperplate and Spencerian script, it is correct.
    Plus, D'Nealin is a *bastard* script that needs to die. Spencerian should be used over D'Nealian. And even then, Copperplate is the better choice in my opinion.

    Sorry this is late, but I just came across your videos. They don't teach cursive in some schools here in the USA, and some do. My 3 kids have all learned it in different grades, due to different schools and teachers, and whether they were teaching it at the time. Currently, they are learning it, and it is in. If they weren't, however, I'd teach it to them. :)

    @Calligrascape One thing I've found with the Q is to bring the "loop" (I don't make it a full loop) down just a smidge and in (to the right) just a smidge and to drop the tail's terminal below the writing line. If I do it the way it's supposed to be done, mine look just like my 2s.

    • @Calligrascape
      @Calligrascape  4 года назад

      Not sure I fully understand your situation, but the ink cartridge is to go on the back and not to dip. However, blotchiness is most likely due to the quality of the paper you are writing on. Try denser paper, (higher gsm or lb) calligrascape.com/best-calligraphy-paper/

    I got tired of running around with ink-stained fingers and no matter how seasoned you are it can always happen.

      Not all fountain pens are flex nibs, you will have to buy a specified flex nib fountain pen, if you want something modern and cheap I'd recommend any of the noodlers pen, if you can spend a bit more money something like a pilot falcon would be good. But I'd seriously recommend getting a restored vinage flex nib pen such as a waterman 12, 54 or 52 ( make sure it's restored and from a reputable dealer, peyton street pens is good) or you could get into restoring them which is reallyyyy fun. :)
