      I know! every other bathroom design seems nonsensical now. I'm in the UK but have seen this in AirBnBs in other European countries. I also like how it seems to be the European norm to have the washing machine in the bathroom. This makes so much more sense than the British standard of shoehorning into a kitchen, probably getting residual grease over everything and taking up valuable space that could be used for a dishwasher/ to feed air fryer and other appliance obsessions.

    She's right, you can't save an addict or people suffering from depression or anxiety unless they want to heal as well. Even therapists say that therapy is useless if the patient has no motivation. It's a hard place to be in as someone's loved one. It's important to support the person as much as you can and how you see fit (like not giving money to an addict if their addiction comes first) but it's also important to look after yourself so you don't burn out. Happy to hear that this story had a happy ending. Great work as always, Auri!

This story gave me hope that one day he will be cured of his addictions as well. Also a big thanks for being non judgemental. Some people judge these poor addicts harshly. Unless you are an addict or love someone who is you will never understand. Compassion and love will always win.

      @tuikkur.5655 2 года назад +10

      @@strawberryme08 As a Finn, like Auri, it feels completely logical to say trashes 😁 In Finnish language there's a singular form of the word "trash" = roska and a plural form = roskat. The singular form means just one trash and the plural one several of them.
      And of course we never take out just one roska (= trash), so we say that we take out all the roskat (= "trashes"). We're just so used to use plural form on that phrase so it comes naturally to do it other languages too, even when it's not the correct way to say in the other language...
      We have to learn to take out the trash, but taking out the "trashes" comes naturally, if you know what I mean! 😄😂😂
      I think it's cute that you guys are so supportive and understanding with this "trashes" thing. Personally I don't even notice it, but that's because it doesn't sound incorrect to me. I've made this same mistake many times even though I've learnt to use the correct form since then. 😁❤
      Greetings from Finland! And even though no one asked, I'll have to tell you this: We have many good things in Finland and few very excellent ones, too. Auri Katariina is most definitely one of the latter. ❤

I found the Scrub Daddy, Mommy, gloves, and an assortment of brushes at my local store. Sure I had generic sponges and wimpy brushes, but after watching several of your videos, realized I needed better tools and products to make my job easier. My back is a mess, I am riddled with arthritis all through my spine, so cleaning is a bit of a challenge, and slow going. I can not do a full room in 1 setting/day because of my back. I do loose drive to finish the job because of the pain it causes, but I do try to keep aware that I need to finish what I started! I much prefer these videos in length and thoroughness. My only complaint and it is the same as ever is that the 'After' shors could be a loooot slower and more detailed at the end. Those are the best part of the video and it always feels rushed. Not to be mean or angry at all but you seem to want your subscribers thoughts so those are mine. I've learned some great new techniques from this show! New uses for my Scrub Daddy too! 😃 So, I thought I'd share one of my techniques when cleaning a refrigerator. .. I do the final wipe down of the inside with generic "Listerine" type mouthwash. The antibacterial properties of the mouthwash kill any trace mold or bacteria. This is particularly useful if cleaning a fridge that will be left unused for a long time ( like a vacation home, house waiting for sale, etc) from growing any black mold while its out of service. Seeing the horrible condition of some of these refrigerators, I suggest this to disinfect them. Hope its useful to someone! 😃👍

    I really love Auri's comment elsewhere about how cleaning gives her a sense of control. It's for this reason I recently started cleaning/decluttering as a coping method when stressed. Her videos ALWAYS motivate me to clean, it's pretty incredible. Keep up the great work, Auri!

    I cry as I watch your videos. I cry because you make me wish all the more I could just do a fraction of what you do in my own home. Ever since becoming disabled, I have lost so much more than the physical. I also cry because I am so happy some people have you to help them, because when you have no one to help you you just sink lower and lower. I have no extended family left. And I really wish there was someone like you who lived near me who could help me be brave enough to let them help me. Its so embarrassing to be disabled!!

    Thank you so much for your videos, Auri!! They have been so helpful to me. If I’m having trouble getting started cleaning (like all the time!) I just watch one or two of your videos and I am inspired! I hope you don’t start to feel like your videos are repetitive or that you need to change things up. What you’re doing is perfect! The way you blend cleaning tips in with telling peoples’ stories is perfection. With your positive attitude and a bit of singing here and there- love it!! 💜😄 Even though I know I’ve heard you explain in previous videos what cleaning products and tools you use and why, it is still helpful to hear it again in the new videos! I am not a great cleaner, and hearing things repeated to me is very helpful. I am so happy too when I see your fiends, like Annie in this video, or your fiancé, because I know you have a great support team to help keep you balanced. All the best blessings and good vibes to you Auri, Annie & co.!! ✌️💜🧽

    In addition to using dish soap to cleaning almost everything in my kitchen, I use sugar soap in my bathroom. I put it in a spray bottle to use in my tub and shower. It has no smell, not caustic and easy to use while being tough on dirt.

    I can relate to the brother: as a man, I am also extremely sensitive and it is hard to be like that in a society of machoism and testosterone.
    P.S. Any tips to take the black mold out off tile grout? Alcohol wipes and Harpic help, but grout still remains gray.
    P.S.S. Bought a scraper myself because of Auri. And it is one of the best things for a housecleaning! (helps with limescale around the faucet).

      Cleaning vinegar -let it sit, keep an eye on it, then scrub. Vinegar is the best for mold.

      You can also use chlorine to kill the mould and whiten the grout. I personally hate the smell but it does a good job, especially with the grout around the bathtub 😬 make sure not to inhale the fumes ☺️

    Hi, Aurikatariina, thank you for sharing. There’s always a story behind mess. A big YES for self care first, otherwise there is no real power to help others. Sometimes it seems easier to help others as to help yourself, but you’ll be soon worn out and sitting in a mess yourself. So healthy eating and drinking, exercise, therapy, if needed and happy routines for every day is essential. I always remember the rules in planes: care for yourself, otherwise you can’t help others. I love your attitude… love, Monika❣

    P.S. As a drug addict myself (clean & sober since 2014), I can tell you that the best thing a family can do is to make sure the addict knows that they will be there for him/her -- when they are ready for help.

    I just came home from being away, my brother brought me home. I never see anyone or have anyone in my flat because of the mess & mental health stuff. Anyway, I had told him there was nowhere to sit & he said it was ok, then he saw my living room & called it disgusting. I cried as soon as he left. My whole family know how much I struggle with it but they honestly just don’t care or want to help because they just think I’m lazy. I need help & the ones that could provide help & support, won’t. I wish someone could help me for free.

    • @peachesdixon7567
      @peachesdixon7567 2 года назад +8

      Don't over think this. Don't think of the entirety of the mess or you will be overwhelmed. It is really just a bunch of little tasks that take little effort or time and do not overwhelm. Do 5 things a day. Every day. Those 5 things are for you to decide. Pack 5 bags of garbage and yes, you know what garbage is, then remove it from your home for trash pick-up. Too overwhelming? Set a 5 minute timer and stuff bags with garbage for 5 minutes and remove them. Clean your fridge or the kitchen sink and counters as quickly as you can for 5 minutes or clean your shower, your bathroom sink, your toilet, your sheets and pillows all in one day. The 5 you choose are up to you. Everyday you will move forward to your goal, step-by-step and will feel empowered by your progress. You will get there. Even the longest journey begins with the first step.

    • @AlyssaSunshineAngel
      @AlyssaSunshineAngel 2 года назад +2

      Something that helped me a lot when things got overwhelming is using a timer. Set it for 5 minutes and just do what you can. Once you can do that, maybe try 10 minutes. One time when I was really sick and not motivated I decided to lay on the couch all day except for 10 minutes each hour when I set the timer and did whatever I could in that time. You can even binge watch a series and between each episode you do 5 or 10 minutes. Good luck xx
