I find that having some solder on the iron tip where you are going to touch the terminal you are soldering helps with heat transfer making the soldering process faster.
The solder does not normally go between the iron and the wire while the wire is cold. As far as I learned, you heat up the wire without burning everything around you, then introduce the solder. Should just flow on contact. Just gotta be careful not to add too much.
If the positive terminal gets warm enough to melt the solder, it’s going to drip down right on to the negative terminal. I hope that’s not going to have a lot of current.

Next time, stick the solder in the hole and cut it, so that is almost aligned with the plug. Heat it up and when it's fluid quickly insert the wire. Less stress on the wire and the insulation.
Soldering, not welding
Soldering is also a type of welding that uses low melting point material. All joining processes through melting can be termed as welding.
I agree with you. The terminal is brass and the wire is copper. There was no fusion of materials but rather a kind of "gluing" or "union".
Glueing, bad soldering.

You’re supposed to tin the wire, put solder in the cup and then add heat to the cup and when the solder melts you insert the tinned wire.
Now, reflow the negative, your filet is a bit shallow and the joint seems disturbed

Soldering these is absolutely nightmare, if u don't have 100+ w soldering iron.
The XT connector is popular but technically is crap. Having all current flow though a tin/lead solder is asking for heat and thus separating.

It is cold soldering. Good soldering leaves a perfect smooth surface, not like that.
Someone else did the black wire? It was done better! BWT, the silicon sleeves didn't feel the heat :))
First you tin the wire, heat the lug add flux, put the wire on the lug and touch with the soldering iron while adding more solder
Power cables should be crimped and secured. Soldering is only for good conductivity.
Why didn't you put flocks on the connector It does help draw it in😅😅 It worked out alright though

Soldering 101, heat the wire till the lead melts on it and coats it nicely, never on the soldering iron.

Tin xt90 first, pre tin wires for a way easier job.
No tinning of the connector beforehand? Bad joints
