After watching Adam Savage hack through a 2X4 in less than a minute with a Leatherman saw I have changed my opinion entirely on saws on multitools. I used to think they were so situational as to be nearly useless, not the case now.
I'm a mechanic and I carry a Leatherman Wave+, which I use all the time. It's a lot easier than carrying a knife, pliers, and a saw individually. I mean, I still have those things in individually, but when I only need pliers for one little thing, I reach for my Leatherman.
I have the Gerber Center Drive, I love it. I lost the Phillips tip from flicking the pliers open, but I replaced it easy enough with a spare tip I had from a Stanley multi-tip screwdriver I got at Walmart. Back at around 8:00 I noticed what looked like rust around one of the posts holding the scales; unless it was chili from the failed can opening attempt. Funny story about can openers. I still have and carry with me a P-38 (John Wayne) can opener. I got it when I was in the Boy Scouts and have kept it ever since. It is pretty much naturally blued now with age, and it rides on a bead chain around my neck. So one day at the office they are going to have a treat for this team because they met a goal on a project. So the managers decide to serve them nachos with cheese sauce. So they get the chips, the little paper boats, and a little pot and hot plate. They even get jars of sliced Jalapenos. The person who gets the cheese sauce gets these huge cans that have plastic replaceable lids on them. I suppose they thought the cans had big pull tabs under the plastic cover but no, they were proper tin cans. So four managers are all scratching their heads trying to figure out how they are going to get these cans open. One of them decides to run to the local grocery store to see if they can buy a crank can opener. Then one of them remembers that I am known as the office MacGyver because I always seem to be ready for things. So while one of them drives to the store, the other three bring me this can. They ask if I can open it with my multi-tool. I pull the P-38 off my neck and open the first can in about three minutes (big can.) I show them how while I am doing it and let them borrow it for the remaining three cans. By the time the one manager has returned with a new can opener the other three are serving nachos to their teams. Later on I go to collect my John Wayne only to find them all in an office passing it around and talking about it, and how they had seen it around my neck but never knew what it was about. I had to explain it to them. All of them younger than myself had never seen such a thing, didn't know it existed, and where it had come from. Now two of them have bought them off of Amazon and carry them on their key rings. I still maintain that the John Wayne is the most useful tool I have ever owned.

As a boater and a fisherman I personally think my Leatherman is the most important thing I carry, it's saved my rear on so many occasions I can't count... BUT, I always say I have one in storage at the bottom of the Chesapeake bay, years ago in some shallow water my prop picked up a crab pot and the wire wrapped it up of course. So I'm out there working on it with my Leatherman making decent time when some genius rides up sees what I'm doing, says hey I got just the tool and throws me a pair of bolt cutters... Well it was either get smashed in the face and drown or drop my leather man catch the bolt cutters and still almost drown... Long story short it took me twice as long with the bolt cutters, my first Leatherman is still in storage in the Chesapeake bay, I went through 3 cheap jobs before I finally sucked it up and bought a Leatherman 300. I've managed to hold on to it for almost 6 years now and don't go fishing or on the water without it... If I need to use it over the side it gets tied off with a line! I also keep a Gerber in my truck that works really well... The cheap ones seem to twist out in the handles and then get off center.... Sorry about the long story but I do love my Leatherman, it's made the difference between driving the boat in vs having to make the call of shame... " I need a tow"!
These "Cheapest [some item] on Amazon" videos are probably my favorite thing that you do! I mean, usually the items end up being a real piece of work ( if you know what I mean ), but occasionally I'm pleasantly surprised to see something half-way decent come across. I hope to see more of these in the future. Oh, I like most of the other stuff you do too :D As far as the stuff I don't like ( not because I disagree with it or anything ), heh, I just don't watch those ones. It's a free country :D
i got a near identical one for fishing branded by Trespass, had to file the the bottle opener to get it under caps so it would work, moved the can opener to the left centre so the left hand side of the handle does not catch on the can, and sharpened the knife, the rest is solid

You can actually take it apart and remove the fish scaler if you wanted to but you would need to retain pressure on the other tools with a replacement tool or something the same size if you were able to find another broken one that someone didn’t want you could choose a tool to remove in theory and replace the fish scaler with something more adequate for your needs around the homestead
It would be cool if you did a video with this multi tool vs the 10$ Mossey Oak multi tool at Walmart . I have had the Walmart one for a while now, and it has served me well. It also has a lock, that stops all the tools from closing on you.
Probably the LEE. I like their dies, not their presses. Definitely not the Dillon 550b though. I have over 250k rounds/10 years through one and have only ever had one small issue with a tiny part, which Dillon shipped overnight to me when contacted.
Leatherman replaced my supertool 300 EOD for free after it was lost in a training exercise. They expedited shipping for free to arrive before deployment, too. Love my Leatherman Wave with Rae Gear holster. But you can't argue with an inexpensive yet reliable multitool like this in every glovebox, tacklebox, toolbox, backpack or go-bag, right along side your better tools.
I like a soft stainless blade that isn't sharp. I keep a cheap knife for when I need to pry something or scrape etc. Can put a bit of an edge on when I need to. It comes in handy a lot more often than I expected..
I kept wondering if the various holes along the multi-tool handles were just decorative, or had some useful function as guides or measures of some sort. The teeth along the inside of the handles (I believe you referred to them as "gimping") seemed to me as though they could be used to grip something the needle-nose pliers wouldn't fit around. A makeshift channel-lock or cap snappler, as it were. On my swiss army knife, the fish-scaler is embossed with inches along one side and metric along the other. Also, both the corkscrew and large Phillips head screwdriver are hinged in the middle so as to become "T"-handled tools for better traction.
Jakemy (the brand of this multi-tool) is a tool producer from China that makes pretty decent tools. I've bought some pretty decent tool set for opening laptops. I've got it for like 4 years and opened hundreds of laptops and pcs with it and it still performs well

You should have switched side you used the can opener on I've had that problem and thought the opener was junk then used it the next time and it was amazing. I believe it was on the Victorinox camper.
as a french jack of all trade,i replaced my french swiss army knife by a multi tool cause it was only 9 bucks, turn out we have the same, not the same design because mine is all hardened steel but it cost the same price,i am really happy with it,cuts through flesh like butter and it has everything you'd need as a jack of all trade or a side tool for someone that camps with an axe
You should check out the Leatherman OHT, I have that tool and I LOVE it so much, been tough as all hell, blades great, pliers amazing, wire cutters work great, the screwdrivers have saved a lot of trouble and more. I think that'd be one hell of a video!
I don't want to be a naysayer but you should always wash your cans before opening them so is not to put contamination in the food. However another good video.
I'd have been thrilled to have a tool like that as a girl. And "tie it to them" is right. We had a know it all family friend (a great resource) that made "pocket knife lanyards" for us out of fly fishing line, that attached to the belt loop, they were great and kept us from losing them
My edc multitool is a Leatherman rebar, used to be the supertool 300 but I lost it, broke my heart lol. The rebar is basically a small supertool, neither in my years of using them have ever failed me. They might be “more pinchy” but yeah. They cost 60-80 dollars for a reason
Nice review. Thank you. On the can opener. I use the can opener on my SAK or multi tool several times a week because that is the only can opener type I have owned for the past 10+ years. I don't remember the last time I used the over-hyped bottle opener, other than for the screw driver. The pliers are my most used tool. I might see if these are still available for my truck glove box.
11:24 Way to go with labels Nalley. Hot Chili con carne (with meat) with beans. Um, just about says it all. Chilis, meat and beans. I'm so annoyed with those cans of chili that have no meat or beans. That would be a can of peppers. Oh, and you should try to unscrew the scales and re-order the placement of the scaler and philips driver. You think it can be done?
I get one that is quite similar to this a few years ago and it has done everything that it should do. Clearly not as got as a leatherman but gid enough fir small things
Watch the video on the multitool on Amazon, pause it to read the comments, such as “ It can help you deal with the wold vegetables that you find outside” and other interesting phrases. Video is the far right on the images.
Get cheap ones or not these are really good for fishing. I eventually broke down and bought one of the black gerber multitools. Years of quick fixes on boats and poles and a stupid amount of lures made with it.
Thank you for testing the can opener, something that many people disregard. However, Like the Stanley multi-tool, the can opener is not on the optimal side for right-handed users (Lefties are OK). Great review, thank you.
I got the same one for christmas one thing bad about it after having it for 2 hours i realized that a screw was missing from the scales so I'm here for 2 hours trying to put a self tapper in it and other wise I love it
I had a leatherman super tool 300 this weekend when my sthil chainsaw died. I dont know wahts wrong with it. My dad even took it all apart, carb and everything. It was working great. I stopped to put gas. Never restarted... Anyways multi-tool really helped. Its not a tool box but its better then nothing.
I was looking at the Gerber centerdrive, but I was very skeptical after seeing some of the reviews on it. I ended up purchasing a much cheaper model Gerber. I was extremely disappointed in the build quality. A day or two after, I was going past the Cabela's in Hammond, Indiana. Stopped in and purchased a Leatherman Wave Plus. Let's just put it this way. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with it. Unlike the $60 Gerber, The Leatherman didn't have a single piece of plastic on it. Off the top of my head, I don't remember what model the Gerber was. It was one that had the slide out pliers like the centerdrive.
Usually the worst things about these cheap multitools in descending order is 1) the springs suck and are not strong and/or breaks easily 2)The ergonomics are bad and unusable 3) the steel , all around I keep a cheap multitools in my pair kit , great for passing needles , cutting thread to use, removing thread , making small measures and making small punctures in thick materials ( I use another tool to go through all the way ) .
Someone found gift card code before me, but I had fun looking for it. I thought it was a great way to do a giveaway. Always like your down to earth reviews. Thank you for the great videos.
Blender you can put unusual stuff in it to blend it and at the end throw a bunch of bolts in there and they hit the blender button and see what happens
I use a cheap Ozark Trail multi tool in my tackle box. Cheap is best if it can be lost in a lake or river. If my clearance Ozark Trail falls overboard that may be its replacement.
Check out other inexpensive multi-tool that looks similar to this Jackemy (might be from the same chinese factory) but has locking: Ganzo G301. Other Ganzo multi-tools are nice as well but not all of them have locking.
the best can opener I have ever used is on the 1990s british army pocket knife. at one point I used it in the kitchen as it was better than the one i had in there
I’ve had 3 Gerber multi tools in the army and all 3 broke in several places. All Gerber products I’ve ever had sucked and were never good. However, I received 2 Leathermans for my deployments 10years ago and I tried to break one and never could do it.
I bought 12 of these blue tools from Harbor Freight, gave me a deal, no tax, and gave them away at our annual crab feed for the gun club range. They are ok.

I have bought a gift of cheap multi-purpose tools, but they are used as backup which works very well. Pretty working tools are mostly.
I don't want to be a naysayer but you should always wash your cans before opening them so is not to put contamination in the food. However another good video.
like mouse turds and pee on the top? I clean mine too.
Home Depot had one for $5 in 2018 that was slightly better quality
The “jimping” on the handle may be a pipe wrench type design
These are my favorite type of videos on this channel!
The code is at 14:55 and it is NSAV if you looking for it.
Watch the video on the multitool on Amazon, pause it to read the comments, such as “ It can help you deal with the wold vegetables that you find outside” and other interesting phrases. Video is the far right on the images.
$12.67 now. I wonder if that's just from demand from this video.
$13.99 now :D
Get cheap ones or not these are really good for fishing. I eventually broke down and bought one of the black gerber multitools. Years of quick fixes on boats and poles and a stupid amount of lures made with it.
Always enjoy your tool reviews. Can’t believe how cheap a functional tool can be

Thank you for testing the can opener, something that many people disregard. However, Like the Stanley multi-tool, the can opener is not on the optimal side for right-handed users (Lefties are OK). Great review, thank you.
I found it for 13.99 no free shipping as of Oct 2019
same, i was pissed lol
Nice
I got the same one for christmas one thing bad about it after having it for 2 hours i realized that a screw was missing from the scales so I'm here for 2 hours trying to put a self tapper in it and other wise I love it
I had a leatherman super tool 300 this weekend when my sthil chainsaw died. I dont know wahts wrong with it. My dad even took it all apart, carb and everything. It was working great. I stopped to put gas. Never restarted...
Anyways multi-tool really helped. Its not a tool box but its better then nothing.
At this point, I'm only watching his videos so i can hear his reaction when he sees the metric system on a tool 😂😂
I dont know why he has a personal vendetta against the metric system
@@cainicholas6208 Well, as always, I say: The metric system is a superior system.
Cheapest winch/come along
I had the same thought... testing and comparing the cheapest hand winches!
Nice Rolex Cody! Had a hard time looking at the multitool with the lex on your wrist lol
He’s a man that can appreciate the finer things in life, alongside some of the cheapest!
Usually the worst things about these cheap multitools in descending order is
1) the springs suck and are not strong and/or breaks easily
2)The ergonomics are bad and unusable
3) the steel , all around
I keep a cheap multitools in my pair kit , great for passing needles , cutting thread to use, removing thread , making small measures and making small punctures in thick materials ( I use another tool to go through all the way ) .
Someone found gift card code before me, but I had fun looking for it. I thought it was a great way to do a giveaway. Always like your down to earth reviews. Thank you for the great videos.
Where was it I couldnt find it lol
I wonder if it might have worked better for opening cans if it was used in the other hand, as the scale was getting in the way.
I have a schrade old timer, it was my grandads, and keep it as a backup in my bag because its another good blade
Blender you can put unusual stuff in it to blend it and at the end throw a bunch of bolts in there and they hit the blender button and see what happens
I was just thinking about how much I missed this series, then it appears in my feed. Very cool.
Use the other end with the can opener that handles rubbing the can while you're trying to get a grip with the hook
I use a cheap Ozark Trail multi tool in my tackle box. Cheap is best if it can be lost in a lake or river. If my clearance Ozark Trail falls overboard that may be its replacement.
“Give me the fizz” is my new favorite term!!!
This video is underrated, the review for that cheap multi-tool is really Good!
Got a bear grills/ Gerber multi tool as a kid, can opener broke on me the day I got it!
Good ole homesteadin', livin' off the land, wearin' a rolex....
What an amazing time we live in where we can get quality tools for literally pennies on the dollar that actually work!
For a can opener. I have a P-38 on my key ring.
I think you have two can openers, one for round and another square cans. Cheers, another great video.
The metric system is the best unit system by far!
“What do you get for $10?” Lol I think that is a sample in a old bad 2 live crew song.....
Check out other inexpensive multi-tool that looks similar to this Jackemy (might be from the same chinese factory) but has locking: Ganzo G301. Other Ganzo multi-tools are nice as well but not all of them have locking.
Hey dont leave your wrist-watch fans hanging! Tell us about that rolex!
I uploaded a video review for Wranglerstar Members,
@@wranglerstar well If I plan on getting one I cant be paying to hear about yours 😋
Thanks for the free entertainment

Iv never really seen a good knife can opener the US army P51 is the best ever
the best can opener I have ever used is on the 1990s british army pocket knife. at one point I used it in the kitchen as it was better than the one i had in there
I’ve had 3 Gerber multi tools in the army and all 3 broke in several places.
Looking forward to getting back to manly manners. Still love the hat! Here in Western Nebraska we woke up Tuesday morning to 4" of fresh heavy wet spring snow.
My vote would be for the cheapest lawn mower on amazon....or other garden tools since many people are needing new lawn tools for the summer months.
Could u do a review on the mossy oak multitool it comes with a flashlight and folding knife at Walmart for I think 10 or 20 dollars. See how it compairs to what u have used.
very nice video.
btw, i love that watch you got on it suits your style so much. the rolex explorer ref 114270 with the oyster braclet.such a beautiful "tool" watch. have you tried putting it on a nato strap? you won't regret it 😉
You have a keen eye, yes 114270. Half the time I wear it on a Nato. I have several colors,
@@wranglerstar fine choice sir 👌👌
Hi, what does NSVA mean please?
It's part of an Amazon gift card he was giving away
go look again. there were a couple of these texts in the vids.
11:46 , i use the can opener on my multitool all the time beacuse the one in the kitchen at my house dont work right , thats why i love a good can opener on a multi tool , i have gotten a craftsman model multitool like that one for 20 bucks that has a light builtin , i dont see craftsman make a multitool like that instores like that since i bought that one i think 4 or 5 years ago , mine has been loose lately , didnt u say u can tighten them with a impact bit or somethin ?
Someone already got it
I have a suggestion, but I forget if there was already a video on it: The cheapest pocket knife on amazon.
