Pretty simple step-by-step walk through on how to change the Bank 1 Sensor 1 on any 2003-2007 Honda Accord V6. This install only took me 15 minutes from beginning to end. Anybody can change this o2 sensor, and I mean anybody. The Check Engine Light is gone and I have driven the car about 50 miles since and it has not returned.
The Oxygen Sensor is a Denso part #234-5010 unit and I purchased it from Amazon for about $90 shipped.
I read about some people having problems with the Bosch and universal ones from Autozone and O'reillys so I decided to stay away from those.

According to RUclips this video was posted 5 years ago, and I just want to say that this video is still helping! Thank you so much!!!
Love it!! My wife absolutely loved this car, and so did I.
Glad it's still helping out!!
@@GarageBuiltHondas Yup, STILL helping us backyard mechanics! Thank you.
Mines has codes po420 and po139 it says 02 circuit slow response (bank 1, sensor 2) by the way do you still have this car?
Google your codes, you'll get more input. We sold the car over 5 years ago.
Finally changed my sensor today. Metal clip gave me a hard time, but the project is complete, CEL is OFF!!! And I owe it all to your video. You're the man JWID.
Whodunit Awesome!! glad to have helped!
@Autumn Richson lmao
I hate the metal clip how did u do it ?
My wife's car just had a P0134 error code and I was wondering how hard the fix would be. Thank you for saving my vacation time since I now feel comfortable doing it myself.
I'm not sure. Google the code and see what comes up.
2023, just ordered my replacement O2 sensor. Thanks for this video1
Excellent!
Just bought an 07 and it threw the same exact codes, thank you for this awesome video. Also staying away from the auto parts stores.
James Gardner You're welcome, glad to help!!
I'm in process of buying this model 07 tomorrow with same issue crossing fingers it's this easy and the issue 🤞
Thx!! worked for my 05’ MDX, what a hassle it started out as until I watched this fine video and I know the shop wanted $300+ for undoing that clip haha ripoff from the professional mechanics.., No thanks took less than half hour :) You the Man
Awesome, love saving people money for easy work that mechanics aren't being fair with.
The best video ever you made bro 👍👍👍 I've have 2008 accord V6 and I'll try the same way should be o2 sensor
👍
When you disconnect a battery, you clear any codes. It could take 30+ miles to reset the emissions system and possibly a long night to cool everything down.
So this is a little misleading the way he's presenting it?
I don't believe so. You're going to want to clear the code after you've replaced the part that was defective. That way you can tell if it doesn't come on again then you know you've fixed you're problem. If you don't clear it, the ecu will still register it, so how could you be able to tell if you've fixed it? All check engine light codes need to be cleared if you've fixed the part.
@@GarageBuiltHondas Won't that show up as a p1000?
I didn't have any codes other than the codes I got from AutoZone.
Cool, I'll fiddle around. Thanks for the quick responses.
Doing this for my ma, certified youtube 😌
Fantastic video. Well presented, very helpful and much appreciated.
Thank you!
Great DIY, video very helpful. Wish you did more types of cars. Thanks
You're welcome. Maybe I will if given the chance. 👍
Recently on my 2002 Honda Accord I had the check engine light come on, so I put a jumper wire on the data link connector, as shown in the handy dandy Haynes manual. The trouble code was 41, for Primary heated O2 sensor malfunction. On close inspection, one of the wires was loose on the quick disconnect plug. After pushing it in, I tested the O2 sensor by the procedure in the Haynes manual and it appeared to be working. Next step, I disconnected the battery to clear the codes. That was a week ago and still no check engine light. In short, look for the easy stuff and check connections before forking out 100 bucks for a new O2 sensor then going through the ordeal of changing it.
That works too. No wires were messed up here.
Do you have a link to the tool you used? Could you list everything you used to do the job, including sizes? Thank you!
My car has 168k on the odo. Seems like this stuff break roughly around 150k kilos. Anyway, thanks the video.
That seems like a normal point and lifespan for the parts. That's pretty good though.
Thanks for the video. So the heat shield needs to come off?
If I removed it in the video, it was how I was able to complete the job.
hoping you could help me locate exactly where bank 2 sensor 1 is. I got a p2631 code "02 sensor pumping current trim circuit high bank 2 sensor b2s1 "...….thanks in advance!
Google it to verify. I believe it's the front facing sensor on the exhaust manifold.
Very helpfull thanks ❤
What was the size of the the O2 sensor remover tool and thank you I have a V6 and the same p0134 code
Thank man it help out a lot
You're welcome!
Hi i have 2004 honda accord ex v6, i ordered the one you posted on description which is denso, unfortunately it is not identical with my current upstream o2 sensor.. will it cause damage to my car? I called honda and the part number they gave me has a corresponding part number of denso that is on your description.
It will work perfectly for your car. My car was an 03 V6, the same as yours but just a year older. You may have had a different brand on yours before but this one is one of the best for your car. 👍
Garage Built Hondas hello sir, today I successfully replaced the o2 sensor that you recommend. I deleted the code as well. My concern right now is the IM readiness, Evap is not ready even driving for 50 miles. Good news is the denso o2 sensor worked on my 2004 Accord Ex V6
Reset the ECU and try again.
2003 Honda Accord code PO 154 bank 2 sensor 1,where is it located?

You da man, saved me $$$
How much anti-seize lubricant is necessary? I bought a Bosch O2 sensor and it doesn't come with the same amount if any, as the one shown in the video. Thank you
Jro Santi You'll be ok with the amount provided.
Great Video ! Tq
Hope it helps!
Nice, do you have to disconnect the battery primarily to change this sensor?
It would be smart as it'll reset the check engine light you.may have because of the sensor
Can you describe where the clip is to get the assembly off the metal bracket? Unfortunately, the video cuts off that part when you show it. Is it on the underside? Easy to feel and unclip? Slide it to the front or back? Thanks
BT Schilling 1:33. There is a small plastic tab that slides up and away from the plug. Slide it up, then pull the entire plug assembly away from the bracket. It actually very easy to remove once you get in there
what size is the socket
was wondering if it's in the same place for a 2003 accord lx 4 cyl
Yes, smaller motor but the exhaust manifold on the 4 cylinder is still on the same side as in this video. I'm unfamiliar with the location on the o2 sensor though, it more than likely is in that exact same spot.
Hello, I have a 2007 accord and codes p0304, p0113, p0102 and p0420. Will the O2 sensor cause all these codes including the misfire? Where would I start to try to fix this? Thank you
No idea. You may want to Google those codes and see what has fixed this issues for other in forums. We haven't owned the car in over 3 years.
Hello 👋🏼 is the 13256 oxygen sensor? Placement
thank you
if anybody can answer me please.
Garage Built Hondas Someone in the comments said to stay away from the auto parts store, I believe because you said you wanted to not deal with the problem again if you went with a part from auto zone or whatever, I just wanna know where you get your parts from.
Thank -Alan
I've read the AutoZone sensors can be hit or miss. I had did a lot of reading online before making this video and fixing my wife's car and determined the one I purchased was the best for this car. I left the link in the description. We never had an issue again and we owned the car for another 2 years after I had replaced this.
when you disconnect the batteries all codes are erased and the computer has to reset, which means lots of driving..if the problem was fixed the light won't come back on.... you made it seemed like the problem was fixed once you reconnected the battery because their was no check engine light.
So this was kind of a phony disguise for fixing the problem?
Yeah you need to drive the car at least 30 miles
My issue was fixed. Didn't have an issue up until January 2018 when we sold the car.
How long does it last if your over 170k miles mines just came on yesterday but I been riding with it like that for about a month my check engine light goes on and off but my car is riding fine will it do any damage or breakdown any time soon
You'll probably just experience lower fuel economy and maybe a lack of power.
The reason the check light didn’t come on right after replacing was because you disconnected the battery and reset everything. You need to drive it a while to see if it comes back on.
It didn't.
My wife has same car but she's get p0420 and p0430 reading are those oxygen sensors also
I'm not exactly sure. Google "p0420 accord" and also "p0430 accord" and do some research.
Did you fix the po420and po430 ? Please let us know
Just payed 435$ for a 2007 Honda Accord. Is that a lot
Did the light stay off after the repair? I had the same error code.
Yes it did. We never had an issue for the next 2 years we owned the Accord.
I'm not getting any errors on my Accord but it seems my car is running rich just because my mpgs dropped. someone told me it might be the O2 sensor. anyways, I heard the other O2 sensor is a bit more difficult to replace. No?
It's even easier, it's at the front of the engine.
I have a 2002 and my front sensor is the one that is bad. Is the process relatively the same for changing the front? Also, do you have a video for reference?
I don't have a video but it's exactly the same, just reversed in position. Even easier to get to.
hey gbh you ever notice that this is like one of the worst problems with accords is the damn o2 sensor? anyway thanks for the vid but what's the size for the tool you used?
Yes. Seems to be. At least it wasn't a very difficult fix thankfully.
So that special socket is a 7/8 deep socket with a 3/8 slot cut in it to clear the wires ?
Its specifically for o2 sensors.
The one I have is a metric 22mm deep socket. I believe it's a standard size for all, it fit my 1993 Plymouth Acclaim as well as my 2002 Honda accord.
How about for a 2007 4cyl ? Same or no?
Similar. Only 2 sensors though. One up and one downstream.
So if the CEL light comes and stays on more than likely it's the o2 sensor???
No. It could be anything. Take it to have the codes checked.
I got a p0171 code for 2007 accord...it said o2 sensor....is it the same
Yes
Garage Built Hondas mine doesnt seem to have that sliding piece on it to remove it. I barely got the front one unplugged by putting a precision flatblade into the gap and prying on it as hard as I could. The back one? Forget about it. This was not easy at all
Is the 01 sensor in the front?
Does it fit upstream and downstream?
I do now know. Look up the part #'s, that'll give you a good indicator if they can be swapped around.
I replace this sensor and the same code keeps coming up idk what to do any help
I would Google it. It may have another fix for the same code.
What code did you have before replacing the sensor?
The one in this video. I can't remember, you can watch and I show you which I had.
i got code P0-420.
what is that? thought it was this sensor. 03 accord ex

I have a 2003 Honda Accord v6 3.0 and it gave me code P0139 Bank 1 sensor 2 where is it located??
Downstream on the exhaust. The sensor I replaced was B1S1.
Thansk
Do you have to disconnect battery
Yes, it's safer to do so.
Hello brother, how are you? Can you send me the oxygen sensor for the Honda Accord, the model of the two thousand and six, and the sensor key, twenty-two mm, is a gift from you. I am living in Western Sahara, south of Morocco.✌✌
Sure
Can u send it to me too plase
Not fair. My plug has an extra tab. Its stuck together. I cant disconnect the plugs
No luck getting it off?
Thank you Sir
You're welcome
ARE THE FRONT AND BACK SENSORS THE SAME EXACT SENSORS????
I'm not sure. They maye have different connectors. Try to order each part and see if the part #'s are the same.
like the new intro jwid!!
Thanks G! I'm excited to see your new ride!
+Jon Widmer think you'll like it man, i know it needs a little bit of love to get her where she needs to be, but that's what I knew was gonna need to be done when I got her. Can't wait to show you, I'll catch you later!
+Garrett Leyva very cool, we'll have to set up a race! :)
what’s that peice called you used to take out the o2 sensor?
O2 sensor socket
hi i have honda accord v6 2005 . honda accord v6 has 4 O2 sensor .i want to know all are the same or different ? if not the same for code P0135 and P0155 which one is good for those codes ?
+Hessam Shandiz downstream o2 sensors are different if I remember correctly
when i go to the part store i tell them only error code or downstream o2 sensors
+Hessam Shandiz have you looked up your specific car and the parts #'s? I would strongly suggest doing a little research online to determine exactly which o2 sensor you need.

Helllo thanks for he video ..I need help locating bank 2 sensor 2 on my 2005 Honda Accord .. any suggestions ? The code that came up is p0158
Sensor 2's are the downstream (after catalyst) on the 03-07 Accords. The top O2's are Sensor 1.
Is bank 2 sensor 1 close by? I have code 2241.

Were is the maf sensor in this car
On the intake arm
Hey question , is this a trustful brand for the 02 sensor ? Somebody told me it has to be from the dealer , but could it be good to buy denso ? And has it gave you any issue
OEM or Denso are the only good ones for Honda. Read around online, you'll see.
Thankyou appreciate it I can get it denso from eBay ? How much you bought it for
$90
So did the light come back on?
No, this fixed the problem!
Just curious, how many miles when you replaced it and did you have to downstream sensor too? Thank you.
If I remember at least 150k, ad no we didn't do the downstream sensor
@@GarageBuiltHondas Thank you, my code(P0420) is different and it's an I4.
Possibly the same still, the upstream o2 sensor.
Where did you purchase your sensor from and how much did it cost
Link is in the description for price and where I got it from! 👍
Where can l get the honda accord 2005 ex catalic converter
Hondapartsunlimited.com
Where can I find the number to reconnect the oem radio
Call the dealership.
It can be on the side of the glovebox
Thank you!!!!!
You're welcome!
Does anybody know where the camshaft sensor is? I need to replace it code is p0344
ruclips.net/video/PLGmANcawlk/видео.html
the electrical connector though...cant free if from the bracket.
There is a small piece which you need to slide away from the metal, and then the plug comes free.
Jon Widmer what size is that tool? 3/8th?
Is p2237code same as this one?
+Martin Lara it looks like it!
is there another way to remove the sensor if I don't have that socket?
runspenstinski There's a tool called a "crow's foot" which works. you could try a wrench but may not have enough room in there.
I see, thanks for replying.
What did you experience when the O2 sensor went bad?
Adriano Vergara there's hardly any diference only the check engine light.
it can also tank your mpg and also shut off your engine
Upstream or down?
Upstream
But would it keep it from starting up out of no where
No
@@GarageBuiltHondas well ive changed the starter, fuel pump, battery, alternater, spark plugs, and ignition coils still wont start
And the code that was sent out was po497
I couldn't tell you. It's impossible to diagnose through the internet. Have you taken it to a mechanic?
No
So this is consider upstream O2 sensor right ?
Yes
ThNk you !!! Love you’re channel!!!!
YW, appreciate the comment!!
Your check engine light will go off when you disconnect the battery
And it'll come back on if the problem still persists. Resetting an ECU doesn't fix a broken sensor.
Where did you get the sensor from? Store
Amazon
I didn't think Harbor sold these. I personally wouldn't use one from Harbor Freight.
damn accord 100k miles. LOLs.
My wire not the same color
Same parts, same car?
I got a P0139 code bank 1 sensor 2..same as yours?
Yes

Que numero de ratchet es?

Hey i have a 4 cylinder 07 accord and i have the engine light for an O2 sensor and my car has been cranking up kind of sluggish and sometimes doesnt crank up on the first try but will on the second. Could this be because the sensor is bad its not giving the correct air fuel mixture or something else?
Sean Greer The o2 sensor could absolutely be causing those problems.
Sean Greer have you ever changed the spark plugs also?
I have but it has been at least 6 months being that i jus got back from a deployment
I'd get the o2 sensor fixed and see how it reacts first
Yea so i jus got done changing it now when i turn the key it jus clicks do u think that could be the battery died
Do you remember what you paid for the censor?
Click the link in the description. The price is there. Best price I found.
Aye
I kept reading comments trying to find what the video is about i somewhat figured had to do with o2 sensor so my question is i got 2007 accord 4l with p0420 only code i reset it drives for few days and comes back efficiency treshold bank 1 upstream something is that the sensor you changed and whats the update after changing yours did the light stay off thanks
My issues I talked about in the video were fixed with the replacement part. Zero problems after.
Did you fix your code PO 420 ?
Hi I have a 03 4 cyl. And the mpg are very low could it be the O2 sensor
Yes, possibly. Is the check engine light on?
@@GarageBuiltHondas yes but it was for a misfire on the spark plugs or coils not for sensor o2

What the did the car do with the bad sensor what is the symthoms
It actually didn't even drive any worse. I'm sure the gas mileage was suffering slightly but the car drove and felt fine.
