This could go faster. Multiplying both sides with ✓x+✓(x-2) gives ✓x+✓(x-2) = 2. Now we know the sum and difference of ✓x and ✓(x-2); adding those equations gives 2✓x = 3, which means x=9/4.

sqrt(x)=sqrt(x-2)+1 square both sides x=x-2+1+2sqrt(x-2) sqrt(x-2)=1/2 sqrt(x)=3/2 x=9/4
