  • Many to this day still prefer the Golf 7.5 GTi over the newer Golf 8 GTi and in this review we take a look at how the pricing of the 7.5 has changed over the years and discuss whether or not buying one is still a good idea in 2023.
As always there will also be a focus on its practicality, features and cost of ownership.

Between the Golf 8 GTI and the current Polo GTI, I would take the Polo GTI. Between the Golf 7.5 GTI and the current Polo GTI, I would take the Golf 7.5 GTI. But yeah thank you for discussing a harsh reality that people have to realise. Learn to live within your means rather than to enter financial suicide just to please others. Great review because that Golf looks absolutely marvellous😭

Many manufacturers no longer have service books - it’s all done digitally via the VIN number. You can easily check the service history at any VW with the VIN number.

@@charlesmnisi3696i would say, anything 100000km especially because of the type of DSG gearbox which can be expensive to repair. Obviously the lower, the better but the price does go up the lower the mileage. Make sure you have a full service history of the car and it was serviced regularly by reputable places. Hope this helps.

I used to own a 7.0 and now I own an mk8 and in my opinion, the driving characteristics of both cars are very similar. Obviously the mk8 has more power and torque. But the chassis and handling is pretty on par with the mk7. I will always have a soft spot for the mk7 and would probably choose it over the mk8 due to the less inferior infotainment system. But, overtime, since owning the mk8, I got used to the infotainment problems. But I still prefer physical buttons. Overall, both cars are a great choice of daily fun that will always put a smile onto your face!

experience wise the 7.5 drives well, very reliable. I've been driving mine for over a year and I've been abit rough on the vehicle,a little bit of drag racing every now and then and yeah never had any issues with it, and it's very fuel economic. anyways almost traded my 7.5 for the 8 until i test drove the golf 8 and decided to keep my golf 7.5, if u own a 7.5 it's kind of pointless to trade it for the 8.

If you eat only noodles everyday, you won't die and you will only spend R110 on food per month. That's an average saving of R1,890pm or around R24K per year, if you put that in the house you'll cut 6 years off your bond.
Building wealth at the cost of a miserable unhappy life is not a solution. Be smart, work hard and you can buy both a house and a GTI. How old wete you when you realized this secret knowledge my king?

Okay for those of you that came for the house part listen. I'd rather buy a brand new out of the box 3 million car and pay it off in 5 years. This is my view. Buy it and don't drive it. Just park it and drive it for purposes of just not standing. Maybe 10 km per month. Then sell it after those 5 years back to a dealer and get like 2 milli for it and Buy a house with that money instead, 5 years car down payment is better than 20 years bond for house. Trust me, it will work 100% if you just stick to the plan. By the time you sell it with only driving 10 km per month after 5 years you will have only driven it 650+/- km on the clock.

Golf 7.5 is a masterpiece. The golf 8 is nice but technically it’s a 7.5 in a new design that was cheaply made. In South Africa VW seems to be selling the GTI and the R only which makes me wonder. In the UK the normal golf with an R-line package looks like the GTI without the red strip 😅

A performance car without service history, a huge red flag. If you want a true GTI experience and a few extra Rands to spend on extended warranty & maintainance plan then the GTI 7.5 (nice low mileage) will do. Performance cars are high maintenance once the service plan and warranty expires. For convenience, a new Polo GTI will do, even though the focus on tech than performance enhancement is a bit annoying.

Alot of people saying they would get the golf with an aftermarket warranty😅 alot of yall gone be standing in line at the bank to get loans to cover the short fall 😂😂, its a 5 year old car the warranty expired two years ago best call the dealer and ask for a printout of the warranty work and be prepared to spend some of that money doing some preventative maintanance.

The 7.5 Golf GTI is definitely better than the Golf 8 GTI, and it is definitely the peak and pinnacle of the Golf GTI . VW definitely missed with the 8 GTI , but the did a great job with the 8R . I'd have the 7.5 GTI and of the week .
Thank you for the bonus video and the financial advice coz some of us definitely need it 😂🤣🤣

This is not the cost of ownership, this is the purchase costs.
If i told you the real on road costs of a Gti, you would cry gents. Here are some highlights.... WATERPUMP: R18k,
    DSG repair: R28k,
    Radiator: R9K,
    OEM Windscreen: R12K.
If you dont have at least R30k spare for issues at any moment, DO NOT BUY A USED GTI.
Lastly, pro tip: If you go look at used cars, buy yourself a OBDELEVEN Diagnostic Tool, always scan the car first to see any issues current and previous.

U are 100% right and the pot holes too repair one mag is R1200 n when the tire is fucked R2500 to R3000 for a new tire , people think u will only drive the car thy don't tell them such things one thing I have noticed a lot of guys wh drives this cars are broke as hell thy like pretending as if all is ryt but they know they are one salary away from being broke.
Good advice is stay away from this cars untill u have a good investment then u can go n buy one brand new

Mr howmuch.i want to know how much is a minor and major service. What tyres on the car and and how much they cost. Tell us cost to maintain

    • @mogomotsinester2538
      @mogomotsinester2538 Год назад

Minor siverce it's around R4000 something depending on the issues buy the time u take it and the tires 225\35 R19" EL(extra load) , normal premium tire continental wil go for around R3500 for one tire or R2000something ,but for the speed of that car u need good quality tires n it means u will have to buy those R3500 tires and am sure major service u pay around R10000 if they have to replace anything it's more than. That's y a lot of owners when service plan ends thy take back the car
