I once heard a minister tell an audience, “The Old Testament isn’t relevant to our times. There isn’t any need to study it anymore.”
How wrong he was! One reason I love reading the Old Testament is because it explains the New Testament in clear, simple terms. Its stories are full of types and shadows of eternal truths, played out in the practical lives of real people.
For example - in the Old Testament, Israel is a type of Christian, and Egypt represents the world. And Israel’s journey through the wilderness represents our spiritual work as Christians. Also, the tree that healed the waters at Marah is a type of the cross of Christ. And the rock that produced water in the desert is a type of our savior, who was smitten on the cross.
Indeed, scripture makes clear that all of Israel’s physical battles mirror our spiritual battles today: “All these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come” (1 Corinthians 10:11). Even the tabernacle and its furniture are examples of heavenly things: “Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount” (Hebrews 8:5).
All these Old Testament examples are meant to keep us from falling into unbelief, as Israel did. The author of Hebrews writes, “Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief” (4:11). In other words: “Study the Old Testament, and learn from Israel’s example. Don’t make the same mistakes they did!”
Whenever I don’t understand a truth in the New Testament, I turn to the Old Testament to find it illustrated in some way. For example - let’s say I want to learn how to bring down any spiritual walls the devil may have built up in my life. I would turn to the story of Joshua, to see how the walls of Jericho were brought down. Israel’s physical battle with those walls provides me with a picture and a pattern, to help me understand how I can bring down all walls that keep me from attaining fullness in Christ.
Likewise, if I want to learn about prevailing in prayer, I would turn to the story of Jacob, to see how he wrestled with the angel. Or, if I want to learn how to protect my anointing as a minister, I would read about Samson, to study how he lost his anointing.
In this way, the story of Sodom provides us with a powerful example of God’s hatred for sin. The apostle Peter writes, “God…turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly” (2 Peter 2:6). Peter is saying, “There’s a purpose in what God did to Sodom. His dealings with that city should be a lesson to every society!”
Let’s consider the story of Sodom, that we might uncover the New Covenant truth it illustrates:The New Testament Is All About Getting You Out of Sodom, Getting Sodom Out of You, and Getting You Onto a Mountain - Into The Presence of the Lord!

I have to use Christ’s own words that we will by faith do even greater miracles than Christ did. I certainly have not performed any miracles but I have experienced the renewal in Christ. We as Americans have by cultural influences become far more intoxicated than any other humans on this planet, we’ve even by proxy served “other” gods that is prophecy. If I could receive one chosen miracle it would be a better “applying” of the word in my life. Sins temptation satiations influence us here in the land of the “me-nows”. I study, I discern, and I endure all by the same Grace of God that those before me have been blessed by. I do pass by the bushel baskets of the apples, I don’t have personal greed, I don’t do many things that defile others yet I cannot compare my sins to another’s to warrant justification of self. I gain ground and spend time in the mercy of God but I do fail. Thus I am Christ workmanship and He is not my own. There is no island for rest for we Americans and by the spirit of the word, I am chastened by God for answering the call and learning what is taught by “The Teacher”.

Oh my gosh, I was "too annointed" to smile! That is hysterical! Bless his heart. Sometimes we take pride in things that don't seem prideful, but actually are. How many times we have been hurt, for instance. That can be a weird thing to be proud of, but I see it in many victims of abuse. I have been guilty of that myself. And to me, it shows a lack of forgiveness. One of the hardest things to master.🙏🙌🦁 👰🐑

I’ve been into Roberta Morrison lately. Her wisdom of the Bible is so true for what’s happening today! She has curly long black hair piled on her head usually (If there are other ones on RUclips preaching but I doubt it).

I live in Sodom AKA San Francisco, CA. Please pray for me. I am battling the spirits that have lived in my eye gates my whole life. I am constantly tormented with pornographic mental images and stairing at people with list in my eyes. I have committed to celibacy, but now that I have came to Christ, it seems my battle with lust/perversion is so deep rooted from the years of sexual abuse and more present than I have ever noticed. In the world, starting at age 3, I have only known myself to be a sex object and sexual attention as the only attention that meant I mattered. It’s all a lie, but I am battling knowing how to just be a human, not a demon infested being seeking attention. Please pray for me brothers and sisters. In Jesus’ name!!!

To those of you who believe the Old Testament does not matter tell me of one sermon preached from the New Testament by Jesus, Paul, John or Peter.
The Old Testament applies to us just as much as the New Testament. Thank you for the people you listed.

the shepherd Goads us...no...not there..stay behind me. We keep looking at something...rebelling ...pulling away. Dont look right now. Oh God ..dont be mad. He knows our flesh is warring. I was ignored by husband. I got hugs from a lonely husband. Then I knew I am getting close to acting on sin. I got serious again. God kept me with husband. Husband was wandering and saying ITS OK. I could only wait and hope husband remembers He is a husband. He seared his conscience. I was low in spirit, so I loved our little boy in good conscience. Scorned for being a mother..it was a horrible thing. I had no desire to feel womanly, I presented my Public self as "doing fine". Bread alone is not satisfying. It was a time of questioning, how could life come to this? Stood in belief I would never concieve of divorce. Brought myself to not feed any thought of want for my life. Soon the husband saw me go to work, and he made his chess move. Leaving me, saying I was NOT liked. Oh it hurt. Making money was not Good enough. Husband was deep into finding someone else, I cant say the things he did. Stripped and vulnerable, I was in the desert. Loved my son despite the attacks on my character, of faithfulness in the face of betrayal. God kept holding me. Carrying me. What sorrow, but God is merciful. Leads me to peace, loosed from shackles of the corrupt world and its pulling at marriage. God help me ..Holy Spirit holds me to walk and not Put my foot on the wrong path. Its mostly everywhere, giant potholes of sin EASY to join in. I am resisting..I dont want the junk and torment. I cannot be around the vile, the haughty..I pray I do not be haughty myself. Stop and reach out to the outcasts..I understand how it is to be rejected. God says I am no longer rejected. Why care what anyone thinks of me..I have no human success. Kicked and hated..I know it is not for nothing. I will not conform to the Pressure I be as the world dictates. Paul said it..forget what is past..go in faith.

Its also good to read the Present with Religion, a book available for free on the internet.The book is about the truth of life and it shows the full picture of life for the first time so that you may stop being deceived by the world and be able to follow the steps of Jesus and other prophets to Heaven.Knowing the whole truth of life is the key factor in our salvation.We must know the real truth, all of it and live in it and change ourselves according to it in order to be saved.There is no other way to our salvation.With the knowledge of the truth there comes true repentance which means changing our minds and also true obediance to God's law and finally our sanctification which is a lifelong process.And God in His mercy will give us His wonderful grace which is the time and ability to make the proper change.Only in this way will we be able to attain oir eternal salvation.Our task is go find this narrow gate that leads to God and do it quickly and stay on it till the end no matter what.Then and only then we will be saved.There is nothing more important or serious to do do in this fallen world as our eternal fate depends on it.We must start today to live in this way and purify ourselves of all the sins and do not stop till God accepts us in His kingdom forever.Now is the time of our salvation.We cannot loose this brief and unique opportunity.

Gen 13:9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left.
Gen 13:10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
Gen 13:11 Then Lot chose him all the plain of Jordan; and Lot journeyed east: and they separated themselves the one from the other.
Lot's first mistake was choosing the well-watered plains of Jordan, as the younger, he should have had respect for his uncle and choose differently but he chose the best place for himself.
next, we find Lot in Sodom and captured by the enemy. remember Lot had herds that rivaled his uncle,
Gen 14:16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
Lot probably should have returned to his uncle but stayed in Sodom
Gen 19:16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
Gen 19:17 And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed.
Gen 19:18 And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:
Gen 19:19 Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:
Gen 19:20 Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
Gen 19:21 And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.
What happened to all of Lot's herds and herdsmen? did he trade it all for a house in Sodom where he most likely got his wife, as she is only mentioned 4 times
Gen 19:15 And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.
Gen 19:16 And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.
Gen 19:26 But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.
Luk 17:32 Remember Lot's wife.
When Lot is escorted out of Sodom by the Angels, it is just him, his wife, and 2 daughters
Lot leaves Sodom with only what they are wearing.
His choice to choose the best well-watered land for himself has led to his leaving that area with nothing but what they are wearing.
He even loses his wife in the escape.
Lot was about as wealthy as his Uncle, what happened to that wealth, he may have met his wife while tending his herds close to sodom, the next thing we know he is in Sodom in a house and has daughters and sons inlaws.
Lots choice to choose the best for himself ended badly for him finally becoming a hermit in a cave and fathering two children one from each of his two daughters.
Where there is no law sin is not imputed.
Joshua and Jerico, the prostitute her house was on the wall, the covenant made with her was all in her house would safe if they remained in the house, how was Jerico defeated, the walls came down, surely those in her house wanted to flee out as the city walls were literally coming down around them
Jos 2:15 Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.
Jos 2:18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee.
Jos 2:19 And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we will be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.
Jos 2:20 And if thou utter this our business, then we will be quit of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.
Jos 2:21 And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.
the temptation to flee the house as the walls came down around them must have been great, but they remained in the house as that was the oath.
Let us all run down to the Potter house , so God can put us on the potter wheel , and mold us until we look like HIM . GOD please keep us there and don't let us leave until YOU finish with us. BE BLESS ♥️🙏
