The crystal ball is awesome, they managed to solve 2 problems with one go: how to differentiate gear knob with infotainment system knob, and how to inform the driver that system is ready to go. Fantastic.
Car magazines definitely complained about the GV80’s infotainment and gearshift knobs for that reason. Gotta love a company that listens to and acts on feedback- fast.
The Genesis GV60 is an impressive car. I love the side cameras, the crystal ball, and the boost function. I hope this car would not be too expensive. I do however, love the Kia EV6. This car and the Kia EV6 are very impressive cars. I hope Kia gets even better.
Just saw this channel pop up in my feed and enjoyed the review, especially since you provided some nice critical points to consider. Love that you provided some US units for comparison, makes it a lot easier for me than the usual conversion from other Korean and EU channels. Look forward to seeing other content from you!
A guy yesterday drove right past my house in a white genesis here in Washington, D.C, my first one I've seen . I didn't catch the exact model, but it was white and looking nice. The rear design, I like it. 😊
Your channel was just recommended to me via YT Algorithms and I like your reviews. You are very thorough, go through many important details and very clear in your delivery. I look forward to you expanding your reviews to more other car manufacturers...👍👍👍
I agree that the Ioniq 5 is more of a family hailer and the EV6 a sports focused version. However, I don’t think the Gv60 really sits between them but is more of a luxury compact offering like an Audi Q4 or Porsche Macan (it even has a Macan-esq rear end). The buyer for this vehicle doesn’t intend to haul anything in the trunk but shopping bags, isn’t going to the store via a race track, and is probably a well-off empty nester who doesn’t particularly want anybody in the back seat.
I saw the GV a few weeks ago on the German Autobahn, Mari, and decided to check out a review. I am very familiar with Genesis, but not this model. Excellent, well-made review, Mari!
Hello Mari Great video and the timing was very good, I have the Ionq5 on order should see it maybe Dec or early new year, the problem now is I have the chance to buy a CV60 I only got the call yesterday saying there was a GV60 available , I have not seen or driven one yet but I like the look . Mari have you done review with the Ioniq5 compared to the GV 60 I know you have done it with the EV6 . Thank you.
Hey Mari Great first driving report! Then I am very interested in your detailed review of the Genesis GV60. 😎👍 At the moment the GV60 is definitely our favorite vehicle! Just great!! Do you know when this vehicle will be introduced in Europe (Switzerland / Germany)? All the more so because the Kia EV6 was not able to fully convince us on a first short test drive - in our opinion, the seats of the EV6 are not really suitable for long journeys. In addition, we would like higher quality materials in the coming vehicle. Other very interesting vehicles seem to be the Zeekr 001 and the Nio EC6. Will these vehicles also be featured in reviews soon? Great job and keep it up!! ) 👍😎💯
Being a Toyota Prius driver I can say that that bar on the backside in the middle of the window helps a lot to block the lights of the car in the back during night driving, I guess lots of Prius drivers may agree with that. I would prefer that bar in the back rather than completely open back window.
I agree with you the trunk space is too small. But overall, I would still purchase it. Do you happen to know the price ranges are? And, can 2 car seats fit in the back? Thank you so much for these reviews. I really appreciate your easy breakdowns. I look forward to your other reviews. Alicia
Koreans got the EV game on lock. I'm a UK customer and people can talk about Tesla all they like, next year I'll be picking up something from Hyundai, Kia or Genesis ... so glad for the alternatives that, to me, are now leading the game.
I'm wondering why they only kind of half way commited to the digital mirror idea. Why put the cameras on stalks where the mirrors used to be when they could put the a few cameras on in the car body and stitch the feeds together to completely remove the blind spot? It would reduce drag and help range a bit too. And with the rear view mirror why not go digital with that as well? Perhaps its budget?
I work with Genesis and asked my direct higher ups about this and they mentioned it was for legal reasons (bear in mind that the legal limitations in Korea will dictate the specifications of every vehicle designed there, even when shipped to other countries), the size of your view in the mirrors is limited to certain dimensions I can't recall at this moment, and those dimensions change depending on the class of vehicle, hence trucks having much bigger mirrors and sedans having tiny ones. The only option that would fit legal standards is having a separate camera dedicated to blind spot, which of course this vehicle already has, it is just turned on by signaling. Having used the blind spot monitor function many times I can say it is extremely effective and I feel no need for a different solution at the moment. As for the centre rear-view, it's the general consensus that most people prefer a physical reflective mirror, not only for the 0-latency nature of a regular reflection but also the ability to check on rear passengers, such as your children. This and the fact that Genesis tries to be as affordable as possible while still offering significantly more features and luxury than Hyundai or Kia models which it is the sister company of. Some competition will have extra features such as this, ventilated rear seats, heated and cooled cup holders, etc. However the vehicles exhibiting these will also exhibit a price tens of thousands of dollars more expensive. But I digress, manufacturing laws governing vehicles are very dated, and while some changes recently have been somewhat progressive, such as the requirement for all cars to have a back-up camera, we have leaps and bounds to go before we can use technology to it's fullest potential and really make cars as intuitive as possible.
Hello Mari, Love your reviews, I now have my GV 60 love the car I have had it I have had the car for 3 months now I have driven the car 10 K klm . I think our weather here in BC Canada is very like yours in Korea , the car preformed very well on a long road trim in winter conditions snow , ice and as low as -8c . There are a few things I did notice with the car heater in the car was ok but our feet were cold unless you turn the fan in very high and the temp turned up high , but with the fan on at a high speed your range really drops , have you heard of a lack of heat to the feet. The other thing is the seat heater switch on the passenger side will not stay on . The car has been back to the dealership they said the heater is fine , and they will look into the switch , I just said they should just order a new switch at the price of this car just replace it. I found driving in cold winter weather I lost about 20 to 25% range and charging was taking about twice as long, I am ok with this but if you are taking a long winter trip its best to plan well. Keep up the good work.
Excellent coverage as always. If the face detection is using Samsung’s tech, I would have serious reservations as that is easily defeated. I doubt it’s using Apple’s FaceID. In any case, it’ll be interesting what tech features will have to be cut for this to be approved in the North American markets. I imagine we won’t see digital RVMs when this comes out, for example.
The wheels are just awesome! The Face ID feature is impressive but I guess we are used to have our "keys" on us somewhere so I'm not sure it's that useful most of the time. the rear view screen is a good idea but I think that's not a must. The car front design reminds me of the Kona and I'm not found of the kind of low ground clearance. It makes the car looks more like a standard car than a SUV (just like the Ioniq 5 and the EV6). I much prefer the G70 but that still a nice car. Another interesting review! PS: I always have a laugh at the Mari Trunk Test but getting the volume in Maris is too funny :D I wonder if one day we'll have a Mari Frunk Test... (btw Mari is always stylish but today her shoes caught my eyes, casual yet sophisticated and trendy)

Love your work and this is a much better electric exterior than the terrible EQS IMO, this said side profiles strike me as CHR / Veloster / juke in my eyes. Regardless of styling look forward to seeing much of these technological advancements filter into the remainder of the Genesis line but the side view cameras need redundant mirrors as if something cause ms one to become non operational their needs to be a redundant systems aka mirrors, otherwise you’ll be stranded.
Nice presentation, and if there is one thing i am not fun off that's the steering wheel. for the rest fine car also the back and, they make a good looking SUV.
I'm a big fan of the Genesis brand especially the GV70 but I think they missed on the interior and exterior design of the GV60. The styling is not as classy as it's ICE counterparts IMO. Perhaps the E-GMP platform gave them trouble blending in the Genesis design language.
I still think the EV6 design is better overall, I think the matt chrome switches look dated but that's just my view, I agree with you, the Crystal should be a constant design feature. As always a very good review, thank you.
🇺🇸 Genesis hitting another homerun! I saw the gv70 at Costco. Wow. It has presence! Does the left, right monitor stay on all the time? It's distracting.
Excellent review. I liked that you had the confidence to share your honest appraisal of the styling. I will be honest, I don’t think the interior has the ‘premium’ feel and look about it that I would expect from the ‘luxury line’ of Hyundai. The ICE powered Genesis vehicles look so much classier than this offering and it certainly doesn’t have the Euro premium (BMW/Mercedes) look and feel about it-e.g. the net storage screen in the back. Notwithstanding, styling wise it leaves the recently unveiled Toyota/Subaru EV well behind. Same for the other offerings from Hyundai and Kia. All remain firmly on our list for consideration when they are fully released in Australia. Thank you for sharing the video.
@@MotorgraphWorld You are very welcome! I am sure that you have a good following in Australia... even if you drive on the 'wrong side of the road' :-D. I'm really looking forward to your future videos as more EV offerings are released. Wishing you good fortune for the future.
i think it's a nice EV BUT idk if it looks that much better or has enough features to justify the premium price tag over ionique or EV6...and I doubt anyone thinks this looks better on the outside than the Ionique 5
Interesting car. Not a fan of everything like the crystal ball and some other design features like the push button for drive modes but wow some of the tech. Looks like we are going to not have to have keys with us soon. Would like to see a better drive review where someone can push it through it s paces soon so we have more info on how it handles, and performs.
This EV in Matt Gold or Bronze will look awesome. White or black is too common, the features is top notch for an Asian luxury brand, a direct fight against the VW id4 and Skoda Enyaq base on their design and features.
Is the face-recognition system shown at 2:11 built into the door really a simple "camera" taking a picture of your face, or a more advanced technology like Apple's TrueDepth used in Face ID (which is more like a 3D scanner volumetrically imaging your face using 30,000 invisible infrared dots)? If it is the former then any car thief could enter your car without a trace of break-in, simply presenting a picture of your face that he could have found on social media, on his phone or printed on a sheet of paper.
Awesome Review from Mari, as always! The car has a lot of gimmicks that add no real value... Facial Recognition / Fingerprint? What if you have sunglasses on? Why not just use the phone like tesla? Ok you could drive just without the phone but really in 2021 who would drive somewehere without their phone? Crystal Ball that you do not even see when you drive... Boost mode??? Just a gimmick, why would I have to press the Boost before acceleration? Just give full acceleration by the press of the pedal... I guess there will be other colors for the interior but personally I don't like the blue color of the dashboard with the mix of the other color at all. Passenger Space is very good. But the small cargo space is the deal breaker for families. Never seen or driven these new korean EVs in person but EV6 is probably the best deal of them.
The Ioniq 5 has more useful storage space (due to a boxier rear), a much lower price, and a better exterior design (IMO). As a luxury brand, you expect the interior quality to be the selling point for Genesis, and it may be better, but there are still a lot of hard plastics, and the neon stitching/piping is not very sophisticated to my eye. Certainly, it's not worth the premium price when the Hyundai interior is actually quite nice as well.
I think the other Genesis vehicles have a better exterior design than this GV60, so I'm a bit disappointed. The interior design is quite nice, minus the use of those hard plastics which take it a bit down. The vehicle looks fun to drive and sounds like a good middle ground between the EV6 and Ioniq 5 in regards to driving. I'm unsure which one would best suit me so I guess I may have to test drive all three!
It's interesting the design looks much more utilitarian then the rest of the genesis lineup. Particularly when compared to the GV70 and 80 the design seems quite restrained. The only thing remotely interesting on the interior is all the screens.
Agreed, I'm a salesperson at Genesis and the design itself of the interiors of the GV70 and G80 are nicer than basically every interior I've been in from any other manufacturer. The materials aren't as high end as something you'd find in a C Class or a 5 Series, but they're designed so well you're basically sitting in art. Only thing now is to get a G70 interior update...

Cool review. Cool little cuv. Wrong color as it hid all the exterior design. JMO
