The day begins in the tail of the storm - we're pelted by rain, and, its not long before broody, protective moma seagulls begin diving at us, warding us off from getting too close to their babies! And, the tide is on the way in... can we find 30 pieces to fill the limited number of Christmas calendars Scottish Mudlarking will release this year?
We're used to storms smashing our coastline in Scotland... the churning seas, pelting rain and strong sea always leave treasures in their wake... Storm Agnes is just the most recent named storm to hammer our coastline... Today we're lucky, as the rains pass, the sun shines through the clouds and the beach shines with emerald treasures!
We've come to Emerald Bay - the ONLY place we know where to find these beautiful emerald green pieces of sea glass in the rough! We have been busy collecting the pieces for our Scottish Mudlarking 2023 Advent Calendar - we have scoured Scotland - beachcoming, mudlarking and dump diving, to collect a treasure for each day of advent, and, we have finally reached the last piece - what better place to visit in search of the rarest sea glass in Scotland!
As the rain lifts away, the view across the River Forth opens up and the city of Edinburgh comes into view - the crags of Arthur's Seat, the line of the Pentland Hills, and, the artificial ski slope, at Hillend, are all clear as day! Its not long before the rain returns, the tide laps at our ankles, and we are forced to speed up our search... Did we do it?

30 Stück😳 was für eine Menge dachte ich erst, aber ihr habt das ja wieder getobt. An unseren Stränden freu ich mich über 5-10 Stück, das ist dann viel. Solche aufgeschnitten Muscheln kannst du hier in Andenkenladen kaufen und bei euch liegt’s am Strand😩.

Je nach Strand finden wir manchmal auch sehr wenig, aber es kommt meistens mehr auf das Suchen und Rausgehen an :) Wir haben uns sehr gefreut die 30 Smaragde zu finden ! Schoenes WE!

Birds - At least there isn't a chippy in range or an ice cream seller with the 99 flakes(touch of Alfred Hitchcock), VG finds and a field day with the green glass. Pop song by Man To Man Meets Parrish - strip song! To the next 10K !
There is no shop around there at all, no chippy, which is a bit strange for the Scottish seaside ;) We were sooo happy with the green glass - exactly what we were looking for! Thanks Dean !

Such a fun trip! Dad jokes and all🤣. I showed your videos to my 7 year old granddaughter this past weekend, and her sharp little eyes picked up the sea glass amongst the pebbles very quickly. She was very excited! Have a wonderful week. ❤

The 2nd most common colour in Scotland after clear
These are un-cast chunks of glass - they were never made into bottles, and we only know of them being found on this single site - so, kinda rare!

A lot of tiny pieces are mussel shells - they get us every single time !! ;)
