  • 💥 DISCLAIMER: the POW gave his clear consent for filming and publishing this footage. POWs are protected by the Geneva Convention and treated accordingly in Ukraine.
Hryhoriev was born in Ukraine, in the Donetsk region. But when the Russian occupation came, he got mobilized to the war against Ukraine. According to his words, he escaped the front line three times but was then brought back. This time he has escaped the Russian army for sure: he surrendered to the Ukrainian defenders. In the video, Hryhoriev tells about horrible methods used in the occupation army, including death squads that stay behind the lines and kill any deserters. Lack of supplies and inhumane attitude almost made the man break mentally, and he surrendered to the Ukrainian army when possible. Hear what he intended to say in our video.

I will have to refresh my memory of the 1917 revolution to see why they revolted then (revolution there seems like a rarity).
I guess since Putin's been in power, most Russians have enjoyed full bellies, plentiful vodka (numbing and subduing them), plus the stable enough pensions & jobs. The depression that runs rampant facilitates this learned helplessness that manifests as depoliticisisation, where they feel protest is useless, simply adding to their disempowerment.

Because they still want to live. I have imagined being in their shoes and going postal on my commanders, but I have to remind myself that the objective isn't to kill the bastard commanders, but to survive. Most of these soldiers still have their survival instinct so they try the legal route until they get desperate enough to either surrender or go postal like those guys at the Russian shooting range. Even retreat isn't easy. First you have to say good bye to any family you have, because you will never see them again as a free man. Next, you have to confront your battle buddies to see if they will surrender with you, let you go on your own, or turn you in. Once you figure that part out, you have to sprint through no mans land as Ukrainians and Russians shoot at you. Finally, you have to trust that all that propaganda you were fed about what the Ukrainians do to POWs is a lie.
Russian commanders and officials should not only be held liable for crimes against humanity with regard to cities like Bucha, but also for their horrific treatment of their own soldiers.

That's the thing about this, it's exactly how such brutal tyranny takes hold in the first place.
The absolute cowardice and apathy currently endemic in that country that not only allows but actively supports and inflicts this horrific barbarity. How quickly and easily those that are armed will shoot each other at the slightest word, despite their incessant complaints of how unfair, inhumane, and terrible it is, yet they will not for a second lift a finger to protect each other against such tyranny. They will shoot you in a heartbeat instead of simply resisting much less shooting the actual tyrant.
Resistance worked in Belarus, also tyrannical, yet all they had to do was threaten and not even actually shoot any "brass hat" and it has kept them out of Putler's invasion since.
Can you imagine for half a second any such orders or insane brutality in any "Western" military ever?? Not in a heartbeat. Ruzzians are a sick, sick society...

In the Netherlands we've had Russian war prisoners who where stationed on our islands to stop them from fleeing from the Nazi's in WW2.
The people on the islands and the Rusians became good friends and where fed to stay alive by the people.
When the war was over many returned home, but some remained because they fell in love with a Dutch girl😊.
And by staying here they saved there lives, because the ones that went to Russia where executed upon arrival; as traitors!
I still remember how shocked we where to find out what happened to our friends.
We erected a monument for those heroes, who fought heroic for our freedom; and got killed by there own people as a "thank you" for it.
