Everyone who was alive for Backstreets Back instantly remembers at least part of the dance from the video when it comes on! I did the entire thing for my Sweet 16 in 2006 and by the end half the floor was full of everyone following along lol
Wow! I am surprised that Tubthumping by Chumbawamba isn't on this list. Every bar in New York City in the late 1990s would blast that song at least twice a night to get people jumping off their bar stools to dance.
@@downhomesunset I just remembered another song! Where is Republica- "Ready to go"? That was 1997. Google that song and you will be dancing in your seat--hahaha.

I’m proud to be a 90’s baby! A lot of these songs were the soundtrack of my childhood! I remember when Everybody dance now was used for a Pringles commercial. They forgot to add Rhythm of the Night, Do you think you’re better off alone?, and Children by Robert Miles
There were SO MANY good songs and candidates to be on this list, I'd have a hard time narrowing things to 20 songs. Having said that, "Rhythm of the Night" by Corona and "Better Off Alone" by Alice Deejay are bangers! "This Is Your Night" by Amber is also worth a mention.
Groove Armada: I see You Baby. Tag Team: Whoop There It Is. EMF: Unbelievable. Snap: Rhythm is a Dancer. Black Box: Strike it up. La Bouche: Be My Lover. Fatboy Slim: Praise You. Cathy Dennis: All Night Long. Prodigy: Fire Starter. Daft Punk: lots to choose….Paula Abdul, Janet Jackson, Naughty By Nature, Moby, Quad City Dj’s, Salt-N-P3pa…..
I work at a community center and when the elementary age kids start singing that song I laugh. Then I tell them that the song came out when I was their age and they just stand there in shock... it's great. Same with the Macarena.
I remember hearing Barbie Girl as a child and loving it buuuut after getting older and actually hearing the lyrics I was like...This song is very adult! 😂
You should really hear their song Candyman. Middle school me at my best friends house just jumping around to both Barbie Girl & Candyman. And the music video is just as weird & wild as Barbie Girl lol
Snow- Informer, Color Me Bad- Sex You Up, Prodigy- Firestarter, Everything But The Girl- I Miss You, Madonna- Justify My Love, Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson- Scream, and Crazy Town- Butterfly. I could go on and on because I turned 21 in 1995 and that was my clubbing beginnings as an adult 😉
I’ve danced the Macarena a few times in my life. I recently danced it at a New Year’s Eve party. I’m pretty sure I messed up a few steps, but it brought back some memories from the 90s.
I was born in 1980 (my birthday is in 2 days!) I love 80s music and I LOVE 90s music specifically 90s REAL Hip Hop. I still listen to it now! I got Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer on cassette for Christmas. I was sooooo excited 😆 And please shoot me if I ever said I liked Barbie Girl.
@stephaniedyminski1120 lol! Same girl, same. I still remember sitting next to my 'boom box' so that I could record new songs off the radio on cassette tapes. That is, until I moved on to collecting CDs. Probably still have them somewhere! (I was so proud of my 5 CD player in my 1st car but still had to rummage around that giant book of CDs to create that perfect roatrip playlist!). Weezer, Eminem, Jurassic 5, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, some 'oldies' mixed in there to make me sound like I had a wide variety of genres and yes, maybe even a certain song with barbies in it... And happy early birthday!:) (Reaching our 40s can be a bit scary but we'll be OK!).
@@evaordorica84 I mean...they're pop. They aren't really considered "dance". I was always at the clubs in the nineties and don't ever remember the Backstreet Boys being played. It was always rap, hip hop, r and b and dance/techno
I went through the 90s from age 3 to age 13. I danced on all of these songs in school dances, birthday parties, summer camp, talent shows, or just in my basement watching MusiquePlus (the French Canadian equivalent of MTV). This decade’s music and culture was my environment in my most defining years, it’s just part of who I am now as an adult. 90s girl forever ❤
I probably would have added Justified and Ancient (1991) by KLF and Rump Shaker (1992) by Wreckx-N-Effect. There's really a lot of good danceable songs from the 90's.
You really should have included 2 Unlimited's, Get Ready for This, Rozalla's, Everybody's Free and Marky Mark's Good Vibrations too, but there were so many other great ones too, this list could easily spread to 50 + Best Dance Songs of the 90s
I'd love to see them do a bigger list of the 90's music, including these already mentioned plus others like what you mentioned. I'd add some Snap, Culture Beat, and Real McCoy as well. :)
This takes me back to my skating rink days...my party songs that my kids always make me do are Shoop & This is How We Do it😂 next list, 90's songs people loved to couple skate to.
@@kellykountouris7193 quite a number of songs on here are not exactly "dance music" either. Including the top 3 in this video. Gonna Make You Sweat would be top ranked dance music then (and deservedly so).
Same here; it got all the way to number two and I was for sure they hadn't added it, because NSYNC wasn't listed and I thought they were going to have a song on the list too, since they were big in the 90s. I was upset, thinking NSYNC had beat out the Backstreet Boys, and that I clearly thought Wannabe was better than some on the list, and then it popped up as number 1 and I was like 'Hell yes". I think I personally like Everybody better than Wannabe, but either one definitely had to be in the top two.
After watching MCHammer and Vanilla Ice, it take me back to the parodies of those songs on ‘In Living Color’. Miss that show. The 90’s. Began with the trail blazer Madonna and ended with the bubble gum pop of Spears and Spice Girls.
I'm so blessed that I was born in the 90s. These songs and more bring back childhood memories. I know it wasn't listed, but The Power by Snap! was a great 90s song, too. 90s nostalgia. 90s forever ♥️ ❤️ 🎵🎙🎶🎧🥰
Back in the day, Finally by Ce Ce Penniston & Jermaine Stewart's We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off always got me to the dance floor. Also, a great slow dance song for me was Piano in the Dark by Brenda Russell- I think?
I thought Janet Jackson would make this list with at least one song, such as "Together Again", which also had a deeper meaning than the average dance song. Also Crystal Waters' "100% Pure Love" and DNA featuring Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner" were pretty much inescapable at the clubs of the time.
Josh Wink's Higher State of Consciousness is an incredible track, takes me back to a club or two in Ealing... Massive Attack feat Shara Nelson nd Unfinished Sympathy is another one. Great list @MsMojo
Some 90s Dance songs I love are also La Bouche-Be my lover, Corona-Rythm of the night, and Corner shop- Brimful of Asha (The fat boy slim remix), Everything but the girl-Missing(The Todd Terry remix) and Pet shop Boys-Go West. I also love Angelique Kidjo- Agolo, a very overlooked track I'd say, and Enigma- return to innoscence.
Yeah this list totally missed all the songs that got me dancing most in dark clubs in the late 90's, none of this pop trash. EBTG, Portishead, Enigma, Massive Attack, etc...
How Snap! - Rhythm Is A Dancer isn't even in the top 20, is beyond me. I am staggered. Other than that, this was an enjoyable trip down memory lane of my teenage years.
I am surprised that you didn't add Saturday Night from Whigfeild and Dance Dance Dance from S Club 7, those songs get you on you're feet and Saturday Night has an awesome Dance Craze
What is LOVE - they are all awesome, but the SNL clip is hilarious! MC Hammer, lol 66 yr old and I met my (white) ex wearing hammer pants, good memories!
No Everything But The Girl, Ultra Naté, Robin S, Chemical Brothers, Rozalla, Fatboy Slim, Nightcrawlers, Pet Shop Boys, Black Box, Snap!...Seriously, I can't believe none of the first four, at least, got even an honourable mention
Damn the nostalgia! Having been born in 1990 and grew up in the 90's, it was a special decade for music. I miss those years so much! PS, y'all missed some staples of dance songs: The Power - Snap Rhythm is a Dancer - Snap Mr. Vain - Culture Beat Get Ready for This - 2 Unlimited Everybody's Free (To Feel Good) - Rozalla Good Vibrations - Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch Everybody Everybody - Black Box Tubthumping - Chumbawamba Sweet Dreams - La Bouche Be My Lover - La Bouche Waiting for Tonight - Jennifer Lopez 100% Pure Love - Crystal Waters Obviously this list was only 20 songs, but some of these songs will get everybody up and onto the dancefloor. You should do a follow-up with more 90's gems. :)

Lord, y’all reminded me how old I am 😂. I was a fresh-faced 16-year-old baby when # 1 was released. How time flies. 😢
Sonique, your lovin feels so gooood.
U Can't Touch This needed to be number 1. Nothing else can touch it.
Everybody dance now is hard to beat
You forgot Tubthumping by Chumbawumba! It was played at EVERY school dance in the late 90s.
Definitely was played in the bars in the mid nineties, but it's not considered "dance music", the genre. Great song though lol!
@@kellykountouris7193 quite a number of songs on here are not exactly "dance music" either. Including the top 3 in this video. Gonna Make You Sweat would be top ranked dance music then (and deservedly so).
I was worried that Wannabe wasn’t gonna be on the list; but hit the nail on the head you put it at #1 🎉
Same here; it got all the way to number two and I was for sure they hadn't added it, because NSYNC wasn't listed and I thought they were going to have a song on the list too, since they were big in the 90s.
@@amandahassinger6405BSB always beat Nsync Lol...
After watching MCHammer and Vanilla Ice, it take me back to the parodies of those songs on ‘In Living Color’. Miss that show. The 90’s. Began with the trail blazer Madonna and ended with the bubble gum pop of Spears and Spice Girls.
"Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" (1997)
🎩 Shania Twain
Anything by Shania Twain

My favourite song of that decade is What is Love by Haddaway it never gets old! Brilliant list.
So much fun! 90s! High school in the beginning. Early to mid 90s college. Professional late 90s. So much fun!!
Thanks for posting this.
I was born in 1990 in the UK and I'm sure I danced to most of these in the school discos. So many good songs
20 best dance songs and not 1 MICHAEL JACKSON song?!🤯 This man ruled the 90s are you kidding?!
My daughters where born in the 80's and I danced with them when I took them to their first time at the disco.
Back in the day, Finally by Ce Ce Penniston & Jermaine Stewart's We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off always got me to the dance floor. Also, a great slow dance song for me was Piano in the Dark by Brenda Russell- I think?
Only "Finally" is from the 90'; Stewart's song was released in 1986 and Russell's in 1988.
What is love is iconic I love that song
Backstreet Boys - Always a number 1 for me ❤
Me too...
Seriously, Janet owned the 90s
Exactly
Yea or with Michael Jackson's remember the time 😪
Josh Wink's Higher State of Consciousness is an incredible track, takes me back to a club or two in Ealing... Massive Attack feat Shara Nelson nd Unfinished Sympathy is another one. Great list @MsMojo
I really love unfinished sympathy too - SUCH a great song🙏
All very mainstrean, nice and safe. You need to do the same for the club hits
The thumbnail 🔥🔥
I’ve listen to all theses songs when i was younger and pretty much now. I grew up with a lot of R&B music.
BSB ❤that dance move never gets old 🤩👍👍
Some 90s Dance songs I love are also La Bouche-Be my lover, Corona-Rythm of the night, and Corner shop- Brimful of Asha (The fat boy slim remix), Everything but the girl-Missing(The Todd Terry remix) and Pet shop Boys-Go West.
I associate Pet Shop Boys with the 80s
I miss the good old days 90s 2000s good music was playing back in the day I loved it all so much ❤ 💜 💕 💖 😢
I was born in 77 and I know MOST of these songs and saw them on MTV top 10 Daily. Lord I’m soooo old!!
backstreet boys' everybody (backstreet back) is my most favorite out the list
Me too BSB forever...
How Snap! - Rhythm Is A Dancer isn't even in the top 20, is beyond me. I am staggered.
Other than that, this was an enjoyable trip down memory lane of my teenage years.
You need to make a vol 2 to this topic. Way too many fantastic songs were left behind
Wannabe at number 1 was everything I needed for tonight.
I am surprised that you didn't add Saturday Night from Whigfeild and Dance Dance Dance from S Club 7, those songs get you on you're feet and Saturday Night has an awesome Dance Craze
Batang 90s, present!!!
Len's "Steal My Sunshine" was a big one for me.
16:05 Martha Wash the OG body positivity queen! MISS MARTHA YASS!!!
What is LOVE - they are all awesome, but the SNL clip is hilarious! MC Hammer, lol 66 yr old and I met my (white) ex wearing hammer pants, good memories!
Totally classic and I’ve now got a new playlist thank you 🎉🎉
I never knew the actual name to 'Sandstorm' till now 🤣
Me too
No Everything But The Girl, Ultra Naté, Robin S, Chemical Brothers, Rozalla, Fatboy Slim, Nightcrawlers, Pet Shop Boys, Black Box, Snap!...Seriously, I can't believe none of the first four, at least, got even an honourable mention
Oh this video takes me back. Good old 90s!
lots of favorite songs here
@@adriangarcia543 thanks
Sigh I wish I was back in the late 90's to early 2000's because I had a good childhood back then.
Ms mojo, your List is good. I think you missed tubthumping one of my fav dance songs. Have a Great day thanks for sharing
Damn the nostalgia! Having been born in 1990 and grew up in the 90's, it was a special decade for music. I miss those years so much!
PS, y'all missed some staples of dance songs:
The Power - Snap
Rhythm is a Dancer - Snap
Mr. Vain - Culture Beat
Get Ready for This - 2 Unlimited
Everybody's Free (To Feel Good) - Rozalla
Good Vibrations - Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch
Everybody Everybody - Black Box
Tubthumping - Chumbawamba
Sweet Dreams - La Bouche
Be My Lover - La Bouche
Waiting for Tonight - Jennifer Lopez
100% Pure Love - Crystal Waters
Obviously this list was only 20 songs, but some of these songs will get everybody up and onto the dancefloor. You should do a follow-up with more 90's gems. :)
I think when you say you were born in 1990, you don't need to also say you grew up in the '90s. Lol
Thanks for the posting. 90’s songs are/were a lot of fun. 😛
Aquarium has been in my car CD player for years now! XD
That list took me back to my high school days 💚 great tracks
born in '83, proud 90's kid here!
