Ive been into your videos Steve, some great engineering. I'm down the road in Caerphilly would love to meet up with you and chat cars in the future. Looking forward to my track day at Llandow in July.
Nice driving there Steve! The bloke with the m3 seemed to take it on the chin and that’s great shame he had to retire for the day hopefully no more damage to his car. 1.19 is a really good result imo but you’ll get faster times soon enough!
The m3 got home safe don’t worry, it was funny because my uncle put it through it’s paces on the first time he went out that day and had to change the brake pads out 😂
I was 0.1 or 0.2 slower than Steve. Admittedly my driving capabilities are way off Steve’s, but very happy that I managed under 1:20 which was my initial target. I should have noted this was on low boost around 270-280bhp. Overall happy though, once engine is forged I can push a little more
Matthew Peterson will happily run that power to a certain extent, but it is essentially a ticking time bomb, I can run different boost settings so run up to 1.85 bar on the road, but as track work puts a lot more strain in terms of heat on the block. It’s also worth noting that I was having issues with brake fad on Monday, so wouldn’t have gained anything by turning the boost up 😀
Honestly Steve from what I could see the car if definitely to stiff on the rear and having no arb on the front is causing you to push on mid corner because the cars bouncing under acceleration. Me personally I would run lower tyre pressures on the rear than what you did, have you tried toyo 888s? They are a beast of a tyre in the dry. I would be tempted to run more castor and camber on the front aswell as slightly change the tracking. Fiestas like to tow out when under hard acceleration. Have you had the car weighed scales?
What do you think is causing the bouncing under accelerating? Mine toes in on acceleration because my scub radius is positive. I can't add a more caster and I'm over 3 degrees of front camber as it is.Thanks for the advice.
@@Sparkplugsteve if the car is towing in on acceleration then that's why on deceleration the rear end is sliding you don't want the front too twitchy on turn in because if the rear is stiff then it simply can't follow the front end smoothly. The lack of arb on the front and the damper rebound is probably the biggest cause of the bouncing, there needs to be a small amount of " give " or you will bounce everywhere and just destroy tyres all the time. With no flex your putting alot of stress on every moving part. You can do what ever you like with your own car, im not trying tell you how to 'setup' but me personally I would weigh the cars corner weights and then go from there, look into the rebound rate then adjust the tow to run as parallel as you can with the castor/camber in mind and finish off with tyre pressures. then I dare say you will be easing into the times you want with less effort and longer lasting tyres. I have followed the build for a while now keep up the hard work.
watching the vid your racing line is spot on have you considered having the suspension and corner weights set up profesionally its worth the money in my opinion and lastley what did you actually think of the nankangs good day out though can see you were happy
Thanks Charles. Yes it needs to be set up. Iv been trying it get it done but because I want to film some of it I can't do that until covid restrictions lift. They won't let me in the workshop understandable. The alignment is a bit off since I changed all my bushes so hopefully I can get it done ASAP. Cheers.
Thanks rog. I'd estimate about 2 seconds a lap faster but I was warned about the pressure sensitivity and wish I listened more. I should not have gone over 28psi hot as the grip dropped and the tyre wear is quite significant down the centre line when you see them in person. Just in the front left though as that's the one that kept going to 30/31psi. Lesson learned but 100% much faster than ad08r.
Spark Plug Steve yea that interesting, there is always a balance between overall performance and value to bare in mind for us poor old worker bees 😂 I will give them a go though, just got to use up the rubber I got some how 🤔
Only 36 cars on track with opentrack so plenty of track time. No spectators allowed so paddock was quieter and no one in viewing areas so defiantly a quieter environment. Briefing was over facbook live.
It's a BMW of course it's crap, the saying "The greatest truck the devil.did was to convince the world he did not exist" well my.one would be "The greatest lie the Germans did was to convince the world they were better engineers"
looks a lot of fun, perhaps you can do a vid on everything you need to do to do a track day and all the costs.
Bmw cooling systems strike again 😂 great video again Steve I’m making a run for the border over the weekend to go see a Opel manta A in Bristol 👍
Really good driving buddy! Impressive time 👌👌
Another quality video Steve, the day turned out alright then, well done on the lap time, and thanks for the video.
Thanks Paul
Well done Steve and good video!
Epic day Steve you did well, cracking in car action too. 😝😁🚘🚘
Thanks dixie.
great upload steve looking forward to the gt3 upload keep it up mate

Great result Steve
11:43 not going to lie mate that was some fucking amazing driving! most would panic and crash.
Great video! I strongly advise getting a CD slot mount holder for your phone. Amazon, like £6 or so. Excellent mount and easy to see while driving.
Iv got one but it won't stay in when I corner. Just flies out no matter how tight it is.
@@Sparkplugsteve oh I see! Stick to what you got then haha
U looked happy beating that pip squeak....lol
Awesome as always Steve 👍
Thanks.
Nice work sir😎
Loadsa fun . Great channel 👍😎
Thanks.
Great content car looking great Steve thanks for sharing
Good result on times Steve, so close the 1.18.
Hey Steve good video I'm sure your happy with them times 👍
How did the s280 fez compare lap times?
I was 0.1 or 0.2 slower than Steve. Admittedly my driving capabilities are way off Steve’s, but very happy that I managed under 1:20 which was my initial target. I should have noted this was on low boost around 270-280bhp. Overall happy though, once engine is forged I can push a little more
@@H-SportPerformance why? plenty of US cars pushing 330 WHP on stock block.

Where can I get that TMPS monitor screen? Is there a kit?
Shares in Andrex after that spin Steve?! 😂🙈
Nitrogen in your tyres for the win mate 👌
Really enjoyed this 👍👍
Thanks.
Grear driving there mate 👌
Thanks.
Didn't realise anything was on at Combe this week! I only live 5 mins from there!
That was awesome , I think if you leave the other seats at home and skip lunch you'll be pushing 17s😁
Haha iv put on a few pounds lately.
Cracking job
How have the new roll center changes felt?
Good video Steve. Enjoyed that. Not as much as you obviously
What's your wheel and tyre specs?
What’s the pressure sensor you use mate?
Steve fantastic video just try to hold the camera more upwards when you are filming youreself haha
Fingers crossed the M3 survived, how can you "forget" to switch the cooling fan on lmfao....
MaddoxGaming trust me it is a beast that car and my uncle isn’t the best at remembering key things much like myself
10:13 full attack steve!!!!
Where’s the footage of in side the other st ?
Ben Riches unfortunately my video footage was rubbish 😢
What phone holder is that?
Cracking video as always! Hows the track looking dude? I've got a bike track day there next Saturday.
thanks and yeh it was perfect
Awesome mate, what lap timer app do you use?
Harry's lap timer thanks
Hey, what do you use for that great camera view when racing? is it some kind of headrest mount? :) cheers

It's not sprung that stiff really though. 8kg front and rear. Why do you think no front arb causes bouncing.?
See what you think when the next vid goes up of more laps.
@@Sparkplugsteve will do Steve, Which track are going?
Good video Steve - looks like your work is finally paying off with those times. Has the 2 metre guidance been relaxed in Wales?
Your meant to get me out on track not beating my car mate 😂 great video and was an awesome day will try and keep up with you at donny (spoiler alert)
So would you say the suspension geometry and steering rack changes made a noticeable difference? Or is it too early to say.
Yes definatley made the car better. It needs a full corner weight session next.
Good 'work' Steve :)
Which brand lsd are you considering ?
What tyre pressure monitor are you using? Also, looks like that m3 needs a headgasket
no headgasket needed luckily, just need to turn the fan on next time.... some dope left it turned off by accident
Paul C nice -Charlie
What is that you are using to monitor the tire pressure? Does it use the stock sensors or use sensor caps? Nice clean build by the way!
It's a cheap tpms off ebay. Their cap mounted ones. Look back at my last vid I show them there.
How many times can you get out on track? And how many laps each time? Great content 👍 thanks for sharing.
What lap timer are you using, Steve?
Harry's lap timer.
Superb upload! Just a thought here, but is there any simple weight saving you could do? as I always think power to weight ratio is super important.
there is, he could eat less and go to the gym.lol
Good tyres them 👌
Also i have a question why did you remove youre anti roll bar cause i heard that it benefits putting the power down a lot more?
Yeh that's why I'm not using it . It's still on the car but only one drop link is connected. There's a lot more grip on corner exit without it.

Good vid Steve, what’s your general consensus on the AR1’s over the ad08,s ?
Was thinking of making the swap

Car looks like a little rocket, nearly in the 18’s - next time 👌
You can see me in the saints shirt by the m3
You’re a modern day where’s wally
dazgreen yeah cheers I think I’m the yellow bloke from where’s wally
👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
I reckon you’d suit being bald 👨🦲😂 what remap have you got on your fiesta?
Iv got a huge forehead so I'm almost bald. Tune is pumaspeed maxd 2r. It's pretty quick.
It's a BMW of course it's crap, the saying "The greatest truck the devil.did was to convince the world he did not exist" well my.one would be "The greatest lie the Germans did was to convince the world they were better engineers"
until a British guy accidently turned the fan to off, not auto and it built up pressure while parked... lol
