Bought 3 of these for my 75 dirted, on a whim after seeing the leaf shape! Mine came in already over 20"!! I attached them to black lava rocks with a combination of clear line and glue, then covered them in moss and netting. Great content, thanks!
Just picked this up from my LFS. Thanks for this info on what to do with it. Your videos are so great!! Informative and fun and entertaining. Perfect mix!! =D
I can't get hastifolia here. I'm going to have to see if I can order it from the co-op soon! I need more tall neat plants. Also, it's truly my pleasure to "hang out with you" in the live-streams. Your videos and live-streams keep me going! Thank you for the information and dedication you put into your content!
Kim Yaworski , Hillsboro, Oregon. Super easy to just order from the Co-op, but the only real LFS I have access to is world of wet pets, and I rarely get to go there and I haven't been able to get any from them on the occasions I've been there. Other than that it's basically PetSmart and Petco. I think there's a new store that went in that's closer but it looks like it's a saltwater store. I'm hoping that the plant auction in April at the Greater Portland Aquarium Society will have some hastifolia, among other things I'm looking for, like Roseafolia. :)
Damn you crack me up. Hey, wondering on manzanita branches, the stuff I collected on my own in So Cal has this beautiful smooth red skin/ bark on it and the stuff on Tom Barr’s website looks like its all stripped/ bare manzanita. Is that just different species, or does Tom strip all that skin/ bark off?
Love your videos! Can you recommend a type of Anubias (orany other plant, really) to use as a background plant in a tiny aquarium? My 5 g is only 10 inches tall, and I am having trouble figuring out which background plants won't grow out of the water. Thanks in advance :)
Did we just meet Grandpa Corvus? I think he needs a Breton cap or a beret. I still like these very focused videos best - perhaps have two or three of these during the livestream - a bit shorter though.
I would love to make it to more of your livestreams. But the time difference for you and me are 9 Hours! ☹ But I understand, you got to pick a time that most people show up for.
I just got one of those and positioned it in the tank right beneath the FX6 outlet flow, which causes some big movement of the plant due to the high water flow. Is this ok or will it affect the plant in time?
I have one plant but I keep reading info that hastifolia are no good submerged - 2 or 3 months and then it melts. I've tried keeping it half in half out but the leaves don't like the lack of humidity. But on the other hand, the base of the leaves near the rhizome where it's underwater do look a bit sad and red tinged like it might rot. So is it submergible? Has anyone kept one alive underwater for a long time?
You had one chance and you blew it! Hasta la vista would’ve been a great pun!

My next goal...a 50 L and I'm going to plant it...you inspire me brah.

Why dont you use cotton to bind it to the wood ?
after weeks the cotton rots away and the plant holds itselve.

best!
Have you ever tried up aqua sand ??
Hastifolia....On a stick, hahahaha!

In time it will affect it's growth, not the best plant to be in really high flow rate.
