Unfortunately this interview isn’t informative. Piers Morgan doesn’t seem to understand that people aren’t interested in his opinion, they want to hear what his guests have to say.
Piers like a lot of politician in the West countries have very little knowledge concerning the Russian and Ucrainian history. But what they do have is geostrategic interests. . This war isn't about freedom nor democracy, it's all about hegemonic powers. The truth will come out and the Western world will never be the same again.
The guy is a bit slow, but at least he is willing to talk. (Took him two years to understand the CV 19 thing.) Give him time on Ukraine and the blue and white flagged folk. Indeed. While I'd like to commend Piers at least for keeping inviting Prof. Mearsheimer to his show, I am puzzled by his approach to these debates. His questions do not seem to follow any logical path other than the continuous pursuit of a gotcha moment at the expense of the professor, with the invariable result of getting humiliated at every turn by someone who is intellectually way too much above his league. Why does he keep doing it? One possibility is that he's too dense to even realize the beating he receives because the professor is too polite to throw a ko punch and just keeps jabbing him. Either that or Piers is a masochist.

As much as I think that Piers often fails as an interviewer, here he actually did quite a good job actually. I don't know why you're saying that he hasn't been allowing to answer a single question. He's been allowing it all the time, while presenting counterpoints and challenging the interviewee. That's exactly what should be happening, it should be a "let's pat each other's back" show. That's how you get two different points of view.

Things improved once the subject changed, but that part of the interview was highly irritating. John handled it very patiently. Many people would have blown a fuse.

Does anyone remember the Cuban Missile Crisis? The U.S. didn’t tolerate Soviet nuclear missiles so close to its borders. If Ukraine were to join NATO, that inevitably means NATO nuclear weapons on Russia’s border. Do we not see a double standard here …?
I believe the US also made sure to help mexico expelle the French as soon as the civil war was over and even gave a little help during the war. You have to admire Mearsheimer's demeanor during interviews, particularly during heated discussions or when dealing with controversial topics. Besides, this is how a conversation should go: no one shouting over each other, just different points being herded.
It's also inherently flawed and based on the baseless assumption that we should all heed to Putin's dictates about which sovereign countries can enter alliances (NATO) or else invasion is justified.

Ukraine never had their own nuclear weapons. They were Soviet nukes based in Ukraine with the launching codes held in Moscow. What they "gave up" was just a bunch of missiles they couldn't use anyway.

He's been allowing it all the time, while presenting counterpoints and challenging the interviewee. That's exactly what should be happening, it should be a "let's pat each other's back" show. That's how you get two different points of view.

Does anyone remember the Cuban Missile Crisis? The U.S. didn’t tolerate Soviet nuclear missiles so close to its borders. If Ukraine were to join NATO, that inevitably means NATO nuclear weapons on Russia’s border. Do we not see a double standard here …?

Look at how they carry on about russian interference in there elections as if John McCain and Nuland were not at the Maidan openly interfering with that "sovereign countries political process". The whole point of the Cuban Missile Crisis was attacking the double standard. The US had missiles in Turkey at the time, pointed at the USSR. The US removed those, the USSR removed its Cuban ones, end of story.

Wonderful! Professor Mearsheimer's analysis was very courteous, descriptive, and logical. You have to admire Mearsheimer's demeanor during interviews, particularly during heated discussions or when dealing with controversial topics. Besides, this is how a conversation should go: no one shouting over each other, just different points being herded.

Another example from this interview: Mearsheimer agreed with Piers' false quote that Putin thinks the collapse of USSR was "mistake". Putin said it was a "geopolitical catastrophe". Catastrophe is not even a synonym of mistake.

Ukraine never had their own nuclear weapons. They were Soviet nukes based in Ukraine with the launching codes held in Moscow. What they "gave up" was just a bunch of missiles they couldn't use anyway.
