Hi Sophie & Ryan, Great video quality over here ! The liquid of your glasses looks red, which is surprising as we only sell glasses with blue liquid inside. Not the main concern though. Thank you for your product review of the glasses, I'm somewhat prone to sea-sickness too and was tempted to purchase these glasses. Strangely enough, many talked about them but you seem to be the only one who tried them and gave feedback. It would be awesome if you could share your other tips regarding your sea-sickness and how you manage it.
I really like the video. You actually bought them and then did a review. I also looked for them so much and finally bought. Still have the impression to end up with the same result.
Love your humour, Sophie! But I do sympathise with you as seasickness is the worst part of sailing. There's no escape! I used to get it quite bad at the beginning of the sailing season but things gradually eased as I did more sailing during the course of the year. Love those glasses though, pity they don't work!!

Merci Mademoiselle Sophie, Job Well Done ! Another amusing, entertaining, informative and captivating vlog! Keep up the great work - you are a natural. Not to take anything away from Ryan's involvement. The two of you are a perfect.
After sailing 100s of miles with someone with a similar condition as you have, we stumbled upon the cure. When there is ANY risk of sea sickness, you cannot go below. EVER. Use a bucket if you have to go. Stay out of the cabin... period. NO, you can't go below even for a minute. NO making meals below (eat MREs enroute). Sleep in the cockpit if you must. You should be looking at your next boat being a center cockpit.
Ryan hated those glasses so much 😂 and to be fair to him, he has good reason! I spent too much time trying to find them and they made me seasick like crazy... But it was a fun try 😂 /Sophie
We have had a positive experience with this product, having tried many other solutions. The only issue we have had is one of durability, but the aftersales department is helpful and prompt to answer.
Scopolamine is the only thing that has ever worked for me. BUT, here is the key, if you use "the patch" remember it takes HOURS to get that product into your system, so....put it on the night before, it's good for three days. How do you know if it is working? If you have "dry mouth"; if you wake up in the morning with serious dry mouth--it is working.
I’ve heard one ear plug as well from several reliable sources. Too bad I don’t get seasick to try it out! Also MythBusters tried a bunch of different things and the only one that gave a little relief was ginger.
@@danbauhaus9571 There we go. I was wondering if someone else knew the ginger trick. Charter sailing I always tried to have it around. Ginger snap cookies are the best thing when you have the, umm, empty stomach. Only problem is I'm going to eat all the cookies. Sorry, I just can't help it.
For my motion sickness as a passenger in a car, I have tried drinking ginger beer while sucking on ginger candies. Didn't help a bit. I'll have to get foam ear plugs. I've, also, tried the wristbands with the pressure "ball". That didn't work, either. I haven't been on the ocean much but I have been fine when I was.

Hey François ! Actuallly, the cause of motion sickness is the same in cars and boats (or any vehicle) : it is called kinetosis and results from a mismatch between your vestibular system and your peripheral vision. Even if the motion is quite different on the road and at sea, the solution is to re-synchronize the eyes with the inner ears. And a liquid moving in the peripheral vision is the best way to achieve this because the inner ears also get their perception of inertia from a moving liquid :) Antoine

The best thing you can do when seasickness is coming on is take three fast shots of rum. It’ll speed up the puking, and then you’ll feel a little strange which will take your mind of the sick feeling.
You need to learn to manage your seasickness, by managing the 4 Fs: Froid: Make sure you don't get cold by wearing proper clothing. Faim. keep your stomach full, but not too full, with proper food (plain pasta for instance) rather than shit food. Fatigue: Prepare your trip by being well rested before the trip (and that means a few days before, not just the night before) . Frousse: (and I think this is where you fail...): if you are scared, or even worried about seasickness, you will get sea sick... so you need to work on that, trying to convince yourself that you will not be seasick... so am sure you have heard "it's all in your head"... well that part is... Once you start feeling bad, the only cure is to sleep under a tree. That being said, I always have a small bottle of coke (coca-cola). Get rid of the gas by shaking it, and slowly sip some... very slowly, like a medicine. The liquid will stabilise your stomach content. Not sure why or how, but after all, Coca Cola was created as a medicine and it works... it does not work with pepsi for some reason...
Have you ever tried the “coastguard cocktail”? Also, does the scop patch work well for you? I’m trying to figure out the best treatment for myself. So far seabands and Dramamine have not worked for me
These were invented by Citroen! They call them Seetroen. They have been in production for a few years from Citroën...also they have a blue fluid...which helps create the false horizon effect which helps a lot! Check out the original innovators...Citroën!

My wife and I are planning to do pretty much the exact same thing you and Ryan have done. Maybe a slightly bigger boat for us, but same idea. Is seasickness something that you think could eventually convince you to not like sailing, or is it manageable enough that the great days outweigh the rough seas?
Seasick is something that when started you want to quit the boat right now. It’s very strange how hard it can be , specially on the psychological part. If you are planning to buy a boat for a long time I will suggest you and your wife/husband rent one for a week and go for sailing the full week. If you have heavy seasickness then have a discuss with your medical doctor. Be aware that some people are really very sensitive and can’t even sail.
@@chrysM34 Thanks for the advice :) As for my part (husband), I was on submarines in the navy many moons ago and dealt with 40-60ft seas coming into Bergen Norway one time. Of the 140-ish people on the boat, two of us didn't get sick. I was one of them. I had advantages like not being on watch so I could go to the lowest deck on centerline and ride it out, but it was still really awful and crazy. Subs don't have traditional keels, just water ballast in a big steel tube with very little to balance out side-to-side motion. Since then, I've gone on about a half dozen sailing and offshore trips and haven't had a problem. My wife is totally new to this whole thing though and we're looking to charter some medium size sailboats for the next few months along with taking the ASA classes, then re-evaluate and make the Big Decision. :)
@@ecliptix5436 I would suggest perhaps getting yourself a smaller coastal cruiser, and seeing how you like traveling in the slow lane... w/sea sickness or without. It will make you a much better sailor than just taking courses and then plunging into a big sea boat. Remember, the smaller the boat, the larger the adventure. Even lakes can be challenging and a lot of fun. IMHO, Lots of submariners seem to find their way to sailboats. Best of luck, swab.
There are two factors at play when it comes to sea sickness. Psychological and physiological. Psychological is the biggest problem. Anxiety being a big cause. The more sailing you do in the most austere conditions, your sailing anxiety will decrease. Likewise, if you convince yourself you are going to be sick, you will be sick. Remove that negative cognitive link. With regards to the physiological medication can help. Try eating ginger and put one of the small disposable earplugs in just one ear.
You should try ginger for motion sickness. Ginger cookies and ginger pills helped a friend with sea sickness. When I flying in small aircraft in the summer, I take some ginger ale and ginger snack cookies with me. That seems to work on combatting the motion sickness.
There we go that's three of us that know about ginger. I swear by it. Ginger snap cookies for the umm empty stomach. Only problem is if I find them I'll eat the lot.
You should read about the othotech device. It cures motion sickness by sending out a vibration to your cochlear nerve so the brain thinks the signal is noise.
Now that I have picked myself off the floor (laughing at this episode) there is nothing worse that that awful feeling. A good beer before setting off always helped me. Stay away from the dodger and downstairs. Another great video!!
Try blindfold. (This is not joke. Seasickness is caused by visual cues not jibing with inner ear cues. Remove the vision, and the discrepancy is eliminated.)
So you are not alone with seasickness, Monique on 'Drake paragon' gets sick all the time. You need to find somebody near you, (Monique in in Stornaway , Scotland I think right now), and let them try . Maybe they will work for somebody , then pass on again etc! Cheers Warren

Great review. Lots of humour. Those conditions shouldn't make you seasick.
To funny Sophie, six eye! You know if you wear glasses. They call you 4 eyes. You can be 6 eyes, lol Laughing with you. hahaha...
Hahaha 😂 6 eyes, that’s right! :)
Ginger. Works every time. Ginger snap cookies are the best but I always eat the whole stash. Sorry, I can't help it.
Party glasses for Halloween Sophie 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Merci and best from cold HKG 🇭🇰
Have you ever tried the “coastguard cocktail”? Also, does the scop patch work well for you? I’m trying to figure out the best treatment for myself. So far seabands and Dramamine have not worked for me
What is the coastguard cocktail?
thank you
These were invented by Citroen! They call them Seetroen. They have been in production for a few years from Citroën...also they have a blue fluid...which helps create the false horizon effect which helps a lot! Check out the original innovators...Citroën!
Thanks Matthew,
We helped Citroën develop their Seetroën Glasses. But the technology is ours. You can even see me in their promotional clip : ruclips.net/video/rjqv8A5mFBA/видео.html ✌️

Good to know
My wife and I are planning to do pretty much the exact same thing you and Ryan have done.
Ginger does the trick every time. Ginger snap cookies are the best unless I find them first.
Try eating ginger and put one of the small disposable earplugs in just one ear.
at least they are pretty
Oh well, at least those glasses could be used for starting fires or burning ants.
Thompson BMX I’m pretty sure Sophie missed the ‘smoke’ part of the manual. These glasses can’t decently be used without herbs. It’s impossible.
Have you tried the relief band?
Why does your voice remind me of Celine Dion?
Seetroen also has a pair. Don't know if they're different.
My understanding is that they are designed for relief and not prevention?
You should read about the othotech device. It cures motion sickness by sending out a vibration to your cochlear nerve so the brain thinks the signal is noise.
Thank you Sophie! You're so cute. The glasses are a total scam. I would love to actually see the details of their so-called study of effectiveness.
شكراً لك
I see a possible give away item in your future videos. Good video as aways.
Negative results are still results and are important.
Sophie---seasickness isn't an ocular problem---its is caused by the inner ear--might as well try ear plugs---good luck--keep using the ear patch
Cheers Warren
the race for motion sickness cure :)
And what about vestibular rehab?
They either work or the don't. Try the ear plug in one ear and see if that works.
So they are totally useless for their intended purpose ... but you look GREAT !😂
That’s the bottom line indeed 😂😂😂
Have you tried travel calm ginger tablets. They were the only thing that worked on myth busters..
Ginger snap cookies work the best, I'll swear by them. Unless I find them and eat the lot.
@@greghooper16Am I supposed to eat ginger before I get seasick or when it starts?
Ive been wanting to make a spinning chair Thats what the military uses for pilots to cure motion sickness
I have been trying to get Sophie in the chair for years..
No luck
On their website they advertise it for motion sickness in a car. Maybe the one at sea is too much to cure with this technique
sophie, sophie, sophie! damn you look good in those glasses :-) why not wear them when going shopping, then you wont get sea sick on land :-))
over here in the US there is a program called Myth Busters. anyway, after rigerous testing they determined that products containing ginger were the most effective agains sea sickness, ie, CDN Dry Ginger Ale and tea with ginger in it. give it a try.
Sophie, I get so sea sick. I would be vomiting nonstop by now!
I thought beer was the cure for seasickness.
Ginger beer, ginger snap cookies, ginger bread, etc. I swear by it.
Sorry to hear
4:37 Well it sucks these don't work for everyone.
Sophie you goof ball. Great review! A pity you are the 5% that do not respond to the "treatment". The Sophie boat surfing method worked much better! Fair winds and happy tummys!
i wonder if the genuine citroen ones that these are copied off are better.
Why do you think these glasses are hard to find ? For they don't work
We are all that 5% 😂
They didn't work because there is no reason they should have. Ryan was correct the instant he saw them and said no.
