Definitely should’ve kept the Dursley scene. For me Dudley’s handshake is definitely a big moment in the the book series and definitely should’ve been in the movie

Leaving that scene in would of brought more love and support earlier on in the movies... I think the directors wanted that dislike to keep to the end so Severus death scene had more impact!
@@rachelknight6028 Well jokes on them heheh Snape has always been my favourite character. I like Draco too, but probably because I'm a Slytherin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This scene with Petunia! It just makes so much sense! The goodbye from Dudley is also a moment many people speak about when talking about the books. It feels unfair to have left this scene out. And the scene of Snape is just amazing, how a shot without words can say so much really is impressive. A pity they took it out. I'd like to have the movies with all the deleted scenes in it.
It also feels unfair that the logic puzzle that Snape had put in to contribute to the defense of the Sorcerer's Stone was apparently not filmed. Hagrid had specifically told them that Snape had contributed to its defense, but that was his contribution, so the ommission of that scene makes Hagrid a liar.
Draco giving his wand to harry is everything, why wouldn't they add that into the movies that's the best thing that can ever happen in the whole entire wizarding world, how can they??
It wouldn’t fit with his character. He isn’t just gonna think,”Oh this is wrong.”Then try to save the day.He doesn’t care about the school or anything for that matter. He wants to have a happy family.
There is a special place in my heart that's been reserved only for Severus Snape. This can never be replaced by anyone else. Truly an extraordinary character that I've encountered in my life. When I've watched part 1 of the movie, never in a zillion year have I realised that I'll end up feeling this way about him.
Maybe cause you didn't know that it was Snape who overheard the Prophecy and told Voldemort which in turn caused the slaughter of the Potter family. If Snape didn't tell Voldemort, Harry would have his parents growing up.... Of course, his parents can still die going against Voldemort alongside the other Order of Phoenix members.... But Snape was doing all this to redeem himself, the guilt of causing Lily's death...(he didn't care much about James's death obviously)....

“You didn’t just loose your mother that night......I lost a sister”. Deam that made me tear up, I never liked that woman but after that scene I really sympathize with her.
I thought it made her sound like she kind of blamed harry for losing her sister. You'd think she would have been more sympathetic because they both lost someone they loved.
In the book, she completely ignored Harry to the end and concentrated on her diddykins. She cried when he told Harry he didn't think Harry was a waste of space cos she thought that was so thoughtful of him. 🙄 Then at one point she went and hugged dudley instead of Harry. In the book she was left alone in the room with Harry for a few seconds but she rushed to the door fast, stopped at there as if to say something to Harry then just continued out of the door without a backwards glance at him. Yeah, pair this scene with the one where Dumbledore went to the Dursley's home and rebuked them for their mistreatment of Harry and pointed out that they also abused Dudley by the way they raised him and pitted the boys against each other. This would have rounded it out nicely.
The scenes with the Dursley’s definitely shouldn’t have been cut, the character growth of Dudley might just have been the best scene to ever end up on the cutting room floor
Why do people say that? The Dursley's treated Harry like crap until the very end. The only time they showed any compassion, in these scenes is when they realized despite being horrible people Harry STILL looked out for them, when they weren't doing the same for him. The wand belonged to Draco for a brief moment when he disarmed Dumbledore, and when harry disarmed Draco at Malfoy manor Draco’s wand and the the elder wands allegiance changed to harry which is why Voldemort couldn’t kill harry with Harry’s own wand. The elder wand refused to kill harry
@@Crakdsoul Is that really why he didnt die ? Is it not because he was the owner of the 3 deathly hallows so the master of death ? Or simply because its the part of voldemort that took the hit and died and not him ?
I believe they removed that scene because in the books Harry already goes to the forest with Draco's wand, but chooses not to fight and keep it in his pocket...
@@gabrilapin the 'master of death' lore was just that: a lore, or myth. The deathly hallows were objects made long ago with old, more powerful magic. Doesn't necessarily mean whoever wields all three suddenly becomes immortal or anything. As to Harry surviving, there are many possible factors that actually make more sense than just lore: first, the elder wand's allegiance was already to Harry, so Voldemort's killing curse with the wand could not have worked. Second, Voldemort's killing curse eliminated the horcrux in Harry. Final, there's talk by JKR of things like Lily's love protection still in effect, as well as Harry's blood running in Voldemort's veins after Wormtail's ritual, etc.

Wouldn't it be great if they released these movies in theaters again with all the cut scenes? I'd definitely take my grandchildren like I took their parents. They could revive the entire series.
the Snape scene was by far the most impactful for the story. I cant for the life of me understand why they took it away. It would have been such a great foreshadowing to his legacy
why? only Dudleys scene was the same Aunt Petunia never said a word to Harry wished they had been more faithful to the books instead adding bs scenes or changing them
What's most funny in the singing scene in the book was that Dumbledore told them that each student should sing it with the tones and pace of their own favorite song, and the singing was just a jumble of chaos. And people finished at different times, with Fred and George finishing a good bit after the others cause they were singing it as some very very slow balad. And Dumbledore patiently waiting for everyone to be done before continuing with his speech.
I think the scene where draco says he doesn't recognize harry was enough of a redemption. Draco's going to be with his parents was expected of him and his reluctance in doing so shows he really didn't have it in him to join the dark side.
Ron and Hermione skipping stones gives more romantic vibes between them than all other scenes. They show real chemistry. Also, Draco handing Harry the wand was a must, as well as Petunia and Dudley's farewell to Harry. They add depth, charactier, humanity. drama. And I'll never forgive the movie for killing Fred off screen.
That Snape scene, wow... wish they would have kept that in. Definitely my favorite character... so much conflict and hidden emotion throughout the series.

@@thisguytucko as like in the book right? That’s my first thought too, but there’s a lot of changes, that’s different from the book. I was under the impression that Aunt Petunia took care of Harry based on the charm that his mother provided where he was protected as long as he was with family and that it expired at adulthood. I felt that somehow it was her moral obligation as impressed upon by Dumbledore.
I would've loved the Petunia "I lost a sister" scene in the movie. It shows her deep and layered emotions about her sister and makes her as a character deeper and a bit more sympathetic. I also miss Dracos redemption but the scene kinda doesn't look nice so I can understand why they cut it out even if I would've liked it to be in the movie.
Draco's scene doesn't fit with the wand lore in the books and makes no sense. Also how can he give Harry the wand Harry had already taken off him "the hawthorn wand" was dracos wand to begin with. A wand also needs to be won to be effective so how would Harry win against lord Voldemort with a wand that was given to him, not one that had chosen him or been won by him?
The scene 'with petunia would also explain their hatred and fear to the wizarding world. Since they know its there, the fear is there and there is no way to retaliate. It would give soo much debt and explenation in the end
@Benjamin Ale After all she was still family, really? Well, so was Harry and that didn't stop her from treating him like dirt his entire life. If anything that scene caused me to dislike Petunia even more.
I would say that the good side of Malfoy is the most essential part of the series that apparently is deleted. It's a real shame. I also agree that the scenes with the Dudley's had to remain in it. Interesting video!
It may have been an essential part of the books, but the movies spent no time developing or mentioning the Dursleys in any positive ways. It wouldn't have made sense to include that scene from a story perspective. Many viewers of the movies wouldn't have read the books, and the scene just doesn't make sense when every time the Dursleys were shown up to that point, they were cold and abusive to Harry.
Your stupid is showing. The "Draco redemption" scene never happened in the books. It's such a good thing that it was cut. Maybe you should go read the books before commenting on movies that were originally books.
@@Lady_Mando Hi. Did you not sleep very well? Is it really necessary to react like this? I certainly want to read the books, but it didn't come to that yet because I have a lot other books to read also. And I didn't watch the series until recently. I see a movie as a separate story in and of itself, whether they are based on a book or not. So wether the movies are loyal to the books or not, is not always relevant to me. Comparing a movie with a book on which it is based is a whole other discussion. I gave an opinion here about the movie story.
Let me go a step further. Every Harry Potter book should've been a season of its own. From the very beginning. I will never understand why making them into a movie each was okayed from the get-go. It's a huge injustice.
The movies never properly showed how much Dudley changed after the Dementors attacked them in Order of the Phoenix (the actually don’t show him at all until Deathly Hollows in the movies). He not only looked at everything differently in the books but he quickly recognized that Harry saved his life. It’s also worth noting that a dementor attack effects muggles differently than witches and wizards and it is usually far worse for muggles when recovering if they ever do. In the books he actually never fully recovers from the attack and suffers from serious PTSD and has trouble feeling any emotion other than fear and depression. Harry even recalls in his thoughts how much damage they did to him mentally. IMO Dudley was very misunderstood, when a child sees his parents acting a certain way towards someone it would be hard for them, or at least take time and maturing, to form their own true opinions and emotions.
The one where Ron teaches Hermione how to skip a stone totally NEEDED to be included. And the one when Draco switches sides. It would have been such a wonderful turnaround.
The stone part definitely wasn't necessary, but I'm glad they cut the Draco one. It never happened in the book and he was always meant to be a grey character.
@@sandraveinthal I think you misinterpreted my comment. I'm very much a Ron and Hermione fan as I've grown up reading the books. The stone scene was nice, but it was silly to add it because it took the place of other scenes they could have included that actually happened in the book.
I loved Alan Rickman's character Snape. He was actually a good guy spying on the bad while he deeply cared for Harry, partly because of Lilly being his mother and partly because he actually cared for him. Snape was a great man and I'm Happy Harry named one of his sons "Albus Severus Potter" honoring Dumbledore and Snape that way was just 😢😭, I desperately just wanted to bawl. A good bawl not a bad bawl.
I'm afraid you have misread Snape if you think he cared for Harry even a little bit. Everything was in honour of Lily. If you have only seen the movies then you should know they cut 2 very important words from his memory scene with Dumbledore in his office. Dumbledore asks Snape "But this is touching, Severus. Don't tell me after all this time you've come to care for the boy?" Snape replies with the cut line : "For HIM!" and then produces the doe patronus to show Dumbledore that he is really "Always" doing it for Lily. Snape isn't mad at Dumbledore for "raising him(Harry) like a pig for slaughter" because he cares. He thought he was protecting Harry to keep Lily alive and even reverts to calling him The Boy rather than Harry or even Potter when he asks "So, the boy must die?" He instantly cuts his ties with him as he is nothing to Severus if he is not preserving Lily. Harry naming his 2nd son Albus Severus is a nice touch tho. Neither of them have any family left who can pass the name on and it shows that Harry forgave both of them for what they did. This goes with the theme of the final chapter as Harry has learned how to go on actually living after such a terrible war that took so many loved ones from him without holding onto large amounts of bitterness or ill will.
I've actually watched the movies 100 times, read (and own the books) 500 times. I knew he was doing it for Lilly but he secretly cares about Harry you would know this if you have read the books. And question the nature of reality and the human experience.

The Dursleys. Throughout the movies, it's implied/shown Petunia was jealous of Lilly, but that one scene would also have shown more too. She was jealous of Lilly's gifts but her death I think also inspired a deep fear of it as well. And here dropped on her doorstep was the child of her "perfect" sister undoubtedly possessed of the same abilities that her own parents found so "wonderful" abilities that she now knew could also kill. Love, fear, anger, and jealousy all presented to her in one little package. It paints her treatment of Harry in a bit of a different light when you look at it through that lens. Still deplorable, but a little more human. (I'm kind of curious to know if her parents inadvertently neglected Petunia in their adoration of Lily and her abilities and if that, in turn, lead her to spoil Duddley, so he'd always feel special, especially when compared against his cousin.)
One thing noteworthy in Harry's treatment as a child is that he was a horcrux. And if recall DH PT 1, we can see how much hatred being near to a horcrux fills in the heart of a person. This could also very well be the reason why Dursleys treated Harry in an inhumane manner.
@@isabellaw.6330 Great observation. In that case, I am just speculating here that a horcrux aggravates an insecurity. Ron was insecure about harry and Hermione or was shown by the locket. Petunia was insecure about the magic that bloomed in Lily and then followed by Harry.
My heart broke during the scene with Hermione and Ron when they were skipping rocks! Hermione - like this? *throws rock* Ron - *smirks*..... no XD IT WAS SO CUTE!!!!!!
Sure, but the scene makes no sense. Draco lost his wand to Potter earlier on, and Potter never gave it back to him so it was on Potter already, so then how did it end up back in Draco's possession so he could give it back to Potter? It was Draco's mom's wand that beat Voldemort" Nothing you said in that, accept the quote, was true. 1.) Draco lost his own wand to Potter during the escape from Malfoy Manor. Potter carried it through the rest of the second wizarding war. 2.) Draco then lost his mother's wand to Potter in the Room of Requirements where it was ultimately destroyed when Vincent Crabbe unleashed Fiendfyre in the room. 3.) The wand the beat Voldemort was the Elder Wand, Draco disarmed Dumbledore and in doing so became the Elder Wand's new master, then Potter disarmed Draco and the Elder Wand switched allegiances to Potter. When Voldemort tried to use it to kill Potter, the Elder Wand refused to attack it's rightful master and so it backfired on him sending Voldemort's own spell back at him. As I said, the scene of Draco tossing a wand to Potter makes no sense in the bigger picture.
They should have kept all of those scenes. One of my favorite deleted scenes is from Chamber of Secrets where it shows minor characters like Hannah Abbott talking to each other. Scenes like that help to expand and enrich the world even more!
I wish they'd release an "extended edition" where they put all the deleted/extended scenes back in the movie where they would've been. Like they did for The Lord of the Rings/Hobbit.
They did..the only scene that's not in the extended version though is when draco gives harry the wand and when Harry gets a ball that spins when someone bad is near..the rest of the deleted scenes are in there..it's great and worth the buy
I know I've seen those scenes before, but IDK where. Probably the DVDs. I've been watching the movies from start to finish over and over again over the past few years on streaming and keep expecting to see scenes that were cut ... mainly the Aunt Petunia and Dudley scenes when they are all leaving the house.
Fun fact: When Draco’s parents called for him to come in the final movie (over the the Death Eater Side - You know the famous scene) notice how Draco looked around? It wasn’t just a little thing he was doing he was looking around to see if anyone would help him :)
In the deathly hallows book, Harry keeps finding cups of tea outside his bedroom door. When the Dursley's leave he finds out that Dudley had been bringing him tea to thank Harry for saving him from the dementors. It's a scene i wished they'd added. But most of all i wish they'd put Peeves and Winky in. The whole film series was marred for me as they were missing.
The music and Snape, and the Pottah! scene were so sad to leave out.. But the look on Hermoine and Rons faces said so much more than words could have. The familiarity between them all was maybe not so evident until the later movies. It's next level stuff but that was a real missed opportunity in most of the films.
The deleted scene with Harry and Dudley was perfect. They really should have left that in. It could have set up so much in terms of books and movies. What if Dudley's child has powers? Who would he turn to? Harry, of course.
Aww yeah, my heart just melted, picturing Dudley somehow becoming a dad to a smart wizard kid like Hermione. He did show character growth as a teen, so who says he can't learn to be a loving muggle dad to a wizard child eventually?
Draco is giving his wand to Harry, why would they cut it? It would show them getting along and Draco helps to defeat the dark lord. Thanks for the video.
As to Petunia's "I lost a sister," that hits differently for me. To me, she's trying to minimize her treatment of Harry, as if her loss made it OK she allowed him to live in a cupboard for 10 years, made him work like a slave, and all around treated him horribly. Her "I lost a sister and you remind me of her, and I hate that, so ignore our abuse" is just proof that she is trash.
@@glennchartrand5411 Well, from the stuff I've read online, Petunia was always kind of a crap person, jealous of Lilly and so on, so it's more "I just didn't care that I couldn't treat her bad any more since I could mistreat her son" in my head.
I think this was Petunia coming to terms with everything, and her role in everything too. You have to remember in the books Petunia wrote Dumbledore several times. When she was a kid, and when Harry was a baby, and a few times when Harry was in school. Also, the end of the previous school year Dumbledore showed up and gave the Dursley's a verbal smack down in front of Dudley. He pointed out how they were also abusive to Dudley too. Dudley also had a change of heart towards Harry too in large part because of that little sit down. Also, she, having to lose everything and become guests of wizards for their own protection, realized just how much Harry was dealing with too. I think this scene was more of a character shift than people realize at first glance.
@@christinaburney5935Yes a shift but not total, that she could actually say "you didn't just lose a mother, I lost a sister" to the boy she treated like absolute manure only shows that her character shifted to accept reality, that being that she can't control reality. I really wish it had been left in and edited to have Harry then say "and how did you treat your sister's only child after you lost her, think about that, Aunt."
Very interesting perception. Never really thought if it that way, wanted to truely believe that Petunia did actually have a soft side......But I think that Harry cared about the Dursleys enough to make sure they stayed safe........Maybe that sparked a small twinge of humanity from her side. Of course Vernon couldn't care less about Harry and then to have Dudly come forward showed his human side too so I am split 50/50
You said it correctly when you said, "it wouldn't have made the movie that much longer. " This is especially true because most of the fans wanted the actual movies to be longer. Add to that, almost every scene you've shown us actually deepens the characters' personalities, the "decision-makers" chose wrong by removing them.
While there were several scenes that would have improved the movies, the newly invented ones like Draco's redemption bs did not and do not belong. They completely go against canon.
I'm guessing it was cut because anyone not caught up with the books weren't supposed to know Snape's intentions. It wasn't until you see Snape's memories that you know for sure why he killed Dumbledore.
6:00 this was the first time in the entire series (I think) where petunia refers to Lily as her sister without distain in her voice. It makes her sound like she actually cared for Lily, and thereby, Harry as well.
@@notability-austingieselman5193 Yeah it could also be seen as she sees her sister in harry and feels pain or she maybe blamed harry a little for her sisters death as he was the lone survivor.
@@griminc6548 Petunia can be a tough read. It's never quite clear if she cares at all for Harry or if she is like Snape and only doing it because Harry is all that remains of Lily. This scene was invented for the movie but expands on Harry and Petunia's last moment together in the book where Harry thinks his Aunt wants to say something to him but changes her mind and walks away. I think her pride stopped her from making up with her sister before she died and that she is possibly making the exact same mistake with Harry but that damn pride keeps getting in the way. Maybe I'm reading too much into tho.
Petunia was jealous of Lily, she treated Harry badly based on her jealousy. She only kept him out of fear, because she knew magic was real. Harry was treated like a house elf. They Should have kept the scene where snape was in the tower reflecting on everything that what that had happened and that was about to happen because it shows a more human side of professor snape as well. And how Much of a tortured soul that snape really was. That scene is also similar to a couple of scenes in the Crow with Brandon Lee and the Crow city of angels. With Vincent Perez. And the song itself is only like the main score in the movie interview with the vampire as well. And is also one of the musical scores in Queen of the damned.
I think its possible they still wanted to keep it a secret he had those feelings. Removing this makes his action of hiding harry...perplexing. Like...what?..why.... While if you do have this scene it starts building more of a justification to believe/know he is a secret agent. While its an amazing scene for people who know who Snape is once we watched all the movies. I think its wise they removed it for people who didnt know the full story at that point.
The last scene where Draco gives wand to Harry was the most important..... Literally this changed the Draco's charector in viewer's Mind..... Its nice of you that you made a video on this....I haven't read the original book but now it seems that i have to read the book...Thanks
I think that the "draco redemption " scene thingy got deleted because he never got his wand back from Harry, means that he can't throw the wand if he didn't have it.
You need to watch the movies again. #1 - in the Goblet of Fire, after the other 2 schools entered the great hall, the Hogwarts students sang the school song. The same one that you showed a clip of. #2 - the scene you say was cut from the Half-Blood Prince is actually the opening scenes. #3 - In the Deathly Hallows, Pt 1, the scene with Aunt Petunia saying she lost a sister is the opening scene. His scene with Dudley is right after the opening scene with Petunia. #4 - the scene of Ron teaching Hermione how to skip stones on the lake was also not deleted. #5 - the scene with Remus & Tonks WAS in the film. #6 - The scene where Hermione tells Ron that he wouldn't copy her answers was also in the movies. Are you sure you watched the same Harry Potter series of movies that the rest of the world did?
What happen was these were originally not in the theatrical versions. They were added later so what we see on newer DVDs and streaming is actually an extended version which isn’t considered extended anymore. Most of these were not shown when in theaters
Its so sad because draco wasnt ever given the choice of what he wanted to do in his life and was pressured into becoming a death eater and I wish they kept that scene because it explains so much :,/
No he had a choise. Sirius Black, Adromeda Tonks and Regulus Black were also raised in family’s like Draco but Sirius wanted to be a Gryffindor (or any other house) to break the family tradition because he did not like or agree with his family that they were better than others, Adromeda also did not agree with her familys hatred of muggles and muggleborns because she married one even if it meant she was disowned, and Regulus did want to and became a DE but when Voldemort tortured Kreacher he sacrifised hinself to help stop Voldemort. They all had a choise but Draco chose wrong and only cared about his family during the end of the war and did not need or desreve a redemption scene that was also not in the books cause he did not get one, maybe he got one during 19 years later but he will always be a bullying, cowardly ferret.
@@heimarmanisigurarson159 still he went to school with Harry. His parents probably realized this and went harder on him to become Harry’s friend and betray him. That’s only a few people who realized it was wrong and Draco had a way harder situation. He was born at the time they needed and took advantage of it.
He wanted to be a Death Eater, he looked up to his father, his parents spoiled him. In the eyes of the Malfoy family it only went wrong when Lucius failed to get the prophecy then Draco was told to kill Dumbledore...but when he's in front of Dumbledore he makes the choice to lower his wand and not kill him. So Draco isn't a murderer, but that isn't exactly high praise.
There's the theory of what Dudley saw when attacked by the dementors, and what he saw was the way he and his family treated Harry. And if so, that would explain his change of character afterwards.
Or maybe while Dudley was away at Smeltings, he was bullied like he had bullied so many people, including Harry. He didn't have his parents to spoil him there, and only one of his gang of friends was also at Smeltings (Pierce Polkiss). I mean he's obese and not very smart, so I wouldn't put it past some kids to bully him for it. Maybe those were the worst moments of his life that the dementors made him relive.
@@kitarrah1422 he was a boxing champion, so I doubt he was ever bullied there, and I believe it to be the quite the opposite really.. Even if he was indeed getting bullied and regretted it, he wouldn't go out with his friends on the summer holidays to bully more kids now, would he?

They didn't "sing karaoke for some reason". It's Hogwarts anthem that students choose their favourite melody to. Weasley twins sung to the funeral march and Dumbledore conducted them for fun. It's in the Philosopher's stone book. Also Potter had his wand when he "died" in the forbidden forrest. He didn't need Draco to throw him one.
Actually, Harry DID have a wand with him while being carried by Hagrid. The movie makes the huge mistake of not showing Harry tuck his wand away when confronting Voldemort at the last 😊
Honestly, I think they should have kept the dungeon scene where the Slytherin’s escape when Draco set them free, only because I feel like it would make a lot more sense since they just randomly showed up when everyone was gathered near the dark side which doesn’t makes full sense. It would also kind of prove that draco had some good in him.

I understand that they wanted to follow the books, but I really do wish that they would have kept the Draco redemption scene. It would have changed everyones perspective on Malfoy, also in the end when they show harry and his kids and Draco with his kid, maybe there would have been a simple nod at each other or something to show the appreciation for each other rather than just looking at one another. I honestly felt bad for Draco, he didn't have a choice.
Yes he did have a choise, he chose to be a racist asshole, he was happy to be chosen by Voldemort in HBP, he was crying because he was failing and he knows that Voldemort does not take well to his DE failing. He is not the boy who had no choise, Sirius Black, Adromeda Black and Regulus were all raised in Pureblood family like the Malfoys but S and A went to Gryffindor and the OOTP and the other married a muggleborn (a big disgrace for a racist pureblood family) and Regulus was a DE but switched sides when he reilised it was wrong (notl like Snape who swithced cause the woman he was obsessed with died), so you can’t say Draco had no choise cause of his family, he just chose wrong. He only cared about himself and his parents and he did actually belive that he was better because of his blood and wealth. Maybe he became better when he grew up but he had a choise and chose wrong when he was a kid. Draco is still a bullying, cowardly ferret and he did not need a redemption or deserve it in the story, maybe he got better during the 19 years later, but in the main story he did not deserve one.
@@heimarmanisigurarson159 well like you said he was a kid and kids don't make good decisions, they make mistakes, that's what they do and they learn from them
It doesn’t work though as a shot. Draco has to dash by in a blur directly in front of Voldemort’s reaction shot. It’s way too quick to even allow people to see what’s going on and it ruins the moment where Harry wakes up and Voldemort reacts in utter disbelief. It wasn’t needed
If you get born into such a toxic and hateful household, its no surprise you'll become an asshole too. Its basic biology: children take over the behaviour of their parents. This does not mean that Draco is a bad person. It means his parents don't give a shit about family and the safety of their children.
Dudley actually thanked Harry for saving him from the Dementor back in The Order of the Pheonix. It was beautifully written in the last book. I cried... lol

Harry had just sat down to breakfast, Ginny was fixing Lily a bowl of cereal, when Hedwig 2 landed next to Harry with unique envelope in her beak. This one had a regular muggle stamp on it, and a scrawl that reminded Harry of a teenager learning to write on the lines. 'Does this writing look familiar to you love?' Harry asked Ginny, who shook her head, looking surprised as Harry. There was no name on the back, just an address in Kent. Curious. Opening it, Harry read aloud: "Harry, if this letter finds you, I'm glad. This might come as a shock, but I need your help, and... well, you're the only one I could think of. If you can, let's meet at Charing Cross Road on the 27th of August at 12pm. If you have a family, you can bring them too. Thanks, Big D" Harry dropped the letter and his jaw fell open. How... how could this be? Big D... the writing, there was only one possibility. Dudley. But why? Why randomly now? And then it hit Harry like a Stupefy to the chest. "Hey honey, what are you doing on the 27th August?" The sun bore down on them, glaring off the glass from the surrounding buildings. It was a beautiful day, yet there was an air of nervous anticipation and an unexpectedness that was palpable. Harry was about to see Dudley for the first time in twenty years. All the memories come flooding back. Would Dudley remember anything of them, after his memory was wiped way back when? Harry turned and saw a man who was so unmistakably Dudley, with this blonde hair, now tighter and sleek, like Draco, his large muscly arms tattooed, his hand holding a small boy's hand and in the other, a beautiful, tall woman's hand with a kind face. Clearing his throat, Harry exhaled and held onto Ginny and Lily's hand tighter. "Big D" said Harry, extending his hand out for Dudley, who surprisingly ignored it and embraced him. Though brief, the hug showed Harry that Dudley was not the same as last time. "This is Cara, my wife, and Jay, my son. Jay... well... Jay's like you"
@@danielhoward220 I don't happen to write but I'd make the moment when Harry and Dudley meet a little longer before jumping into Jay is a wizard too. There should be some general "chit-chat" and then maybe find somewhere to sit down to talk before discussing Jay. Other than that I like this a lot more than the official "Christmas cards and a couple of awkward visits". My headcanon was always that the Dursleys were moved around safe houses during the final book and that Dudley met a nice Hufflepuff girl during the Christmas break at one of these houses and started a budding romance. I always liked the idea that Vernon and Petunia worked out pretty quickly that they shouldn't tell the whole truth about Harry's early years before Hogwarts and that they were soon telling the wizards that they were now surrounded by that they bravely took young Harry in knowing it put them in danger but it was the right thing to do and that they had helped to raise this young hero. I can just imagine Vernon almost choking on the words the first few times. Not helpful to your story since Cara needs to be a muggle too for Dudley to need Harry's help. Vernon and Petunia's reaction to a magical grandson could be fun to write as Vernon would probably hate it but be unable to say it. Petunia could go either way but I imagine since her Duddykins could do no wrong then Jay would also not be able to do any wrong and she would embrace it like she never had any problem with magic to begin with and wont hear another word about that. Cue interesting interplay between P and V about this. Just some thoughts
@@dansharp2860 bro, I love this! It makes a lot of sense to extend it out, you're right. I just came up with it on the fly though, so if I put some thought into it, I could do something with it haha. I had always thought it would have been great, both in the book, and movie, if Dudley showed up at Platform 9 3/4, with his own son or daughter, in the epilogue. This would indicate that he survived, and accepted his own, muggle born wizard. 💜
J.K. Rowling has said in that she actually originally planned for Dudley to have a magical child but then realized no magical blood would ever get past Uncle Vernon's DNA.
Well, actually in the books, Harry did have his wand "technically Draco's" before he went to the forbidden forest. He knew he needed to face death at the hand of Voldemort; therefore, tucked his wand and invisibility cloak in his "robes". Staying true to the book about important things like THIS is necessary to the climax about how Harry was able to overcome Voldemort in the end. Now on the other hand, I would have loved to see the development between Ron and Hermione's relationship. The books were written from Harry's perspective and mentioned them off together but didn't go into detail about what they were saying or doing. Thus the need for a great script/conversations not just as a filler but for the sake of development/understand. The movie portrayed stagnant and tension between these characters due to the burden of the locket. Despite my opinion, they must have not wanted a mental break for something as happy such as this.
Draco's redemption scene. Not only is he my favourite character next to Luna, but he also was brainwashed from an early age. Seeing him think for himself for once would have backed by his previous actions which would have brightened the story a bit.
Oh my gosh thank you for this!!! Honestly, people and producers are nuts for cutting scenes like this!!!! Even in the DVDs!!!! I don’t know where you can get an UNCUT movie anymore!!!! I think another 3 you should have mentioned are critical - and they’re all in Goblet of Fire 1. The scene at the Yule Ball where Harry wanders off and finds Snape & Karkarov in conversation about the Death Eaters. Snape catches a couple making out in a carriage and reduces points before he talks with Karkarov. 2. The scene where Snape is in his storage and Karkarov shows him the Dark Mark. He then leaves before Snape says “Not so fast Mr.Potter” and Snape accuses him of stealing from his stores for Polyjuice potion 3. Don’t forget they cut the “mini concert” at the Yule Ball There are many other scenes in all the movies, but these are the biggest for me. The Dursley one also hits hard because they’re actually nice and their vulnerability shows.
Suddenly realised awhile ago the DVDs were bowderlised and here was me thinking I was just not registering these missing scenes.think I'll stick with the books only.
In the book Harry had stuck his wand (which was Draco’s that he had snatched from Draco in the Malfoy’s mansion) into the waistband of his pants; so he had a wand. And the scene in which Draco throws his wand to Harry lasts about two seconds, his voice saying Pottah is covered by the background noise, and to me is indecipherable. I see Draco run through, but his purpose is lost in rapidity and background noise. For me, the editor’s decision was correct on this scene. Not so on the Dursleys’ farewell scenes. The one with Dudley was in the book and was well played. I really feel the one with Petunia added necessary depth to her character. I wish they had been included.
Eh, I'd argue Petunia's scene undermines her character. Maybe Petunia wanted to go to Hogwarts at first and she was jealous but that turned into years of resentment and hatred.
Drako Malfoy's scene is great, but it makes a plot hole rather than redemption. Harry had his wand (malfoy's) already when he entered the forest for the last time, he just hid it under his robes to willingly go to die without being tempted. After that, he choses a moment to reveal himself being alive, to use the wand to try to save Neville. Malfoy is redeemed by his mother, lying to Voldemort, saying that Harry is dead just because she loved her son so much. It brilliantly ties into the story, the mother being the one to make a choice not for anyone else, even the Dark Lord, but for her son, wich, of course, led to Harry's victory. And Harry using the wand he took from Drako in Malfoy's manor, made all the difference, because Voldemort's wand, The Elder wand, recognised it's previous masters (Dumbledore's) defeater in his opponent, because it was Draco who disarmed Dumbledore. Snape killed already defenseless Dumbledore, Making Draco the real owner of the wand. And, because Harry used Draco's wand (struggled out of him), the Elder wand recognised it's defeater and gave up on him. As heartworming as it is to everyone hoping for Draco's redemption an to all the countless fans of Tom Felton, the wand -throwing scene is well off laying on the cutting room's floor, because it just doesn't make sence...
Makes all the sense in the world. There's absolutely no way Draco knew that Harry has a hidden wand somewhere. This scene's showing that at the end of the day Draco would even risk own life to give Harry a chance to defeat Voldemort.
@@7even_sins Sorry, but If Draco wasn't unconcious in the Malfoy's manor when Harry struggled the wand out of Drako's hands, I doubt Drako thought Harry was wandless. They all knew about the break in and out of Gringot's (Sheamus's line - the all school knows!) and I don't think anyone thought Harry made it without a wand. They even have a small chat about wands in the room of requirement before the walk into the forest and the last fight - that Harry has Drako's wand, and, although Narcissa lent Drako her wand, it is not the same.... So that move from Drako seems unnecessary in any way - If Harry has Drako's wand and is quite sucsesfull with it (as we see in the room of requirement), why would Drako assume that Harry is accidentally wandless in the grat reveal? And what good would Drako's mother's wand do for Harry? We already know that a randomly obtained wand will not work even half as good as your own or rightfully earned wand (I suggest you reread the first part of Deathly hollows). And Yes, I know that we all love Tom Felton and his play as Drako, but actually the movie made Malfoy's redemption arc even lousier - like Narcissa just grabbed her son and run away without looking back, and Lucious sneekily follows... In the books, at the end Drako and his parents sat in the great hall together with the others, and felt like outsiders. And in the end it was Draco's mother's sacrifice that redeemed them in the end in the face of a jury, judging previous death-eaters, and Harry's testimony about Nacissa's lies to Voldemort and the reaction in made, let Malfoy's loose. And, as we all know, Drako later married Astoria Greengrass (Whom he lost later due to a blood curse (Maledictus))and they had a boy, Scorpio, who was in the same year as Harry's youngest son. Harry and Drako had collegial attentions to each other, but there was no hate or rivalry as in their teenage years, just pure respect.
@@lindamazule2289 I just wonder, you wrote all that text without even giving a little thought to the fact that Draco sees Hagrid carrying DEAD!!!!! Harry... There was no way he knew Harry's alive. There's no way he would have a time to think about the wand situation or conduct a memory detective research about the events in Manor... The next part you're talking about Narcissa, who could easily reveal Harry's alive and kicking and this story would've ended much more tragically. So next time before you writing as Tolstoy, try to actually think about what are you writing. Thank you for your time.
@@7even_sins Have you ever read the books? Look at Malfoy's character! Even after Harry saves him from the room of requirement, he tries to assure a deatheater later in the fight that he is on their side! I don't think that he would risk his place (son of a deatheater) or life (if Voldemort wins, wich was actually still a real possibility at that moment, because noone knew about the conversation Harry and Dumbledore had in the "Kings Cross station") to help Harry, who mystically wakes up from his dead self? As much as we all would love to see a redemption for Draco to come sooner, in the books it is only after the battle of Hogwarts and all that happens later, that makes Drako to redeem himself. In the battle of Hogwarts he was still his selfish, cowardly self with almost no intent to help harry, especially in such a visible, self-revealing way as to throw his wand at him in front of a very large audience. So the fact that Draco sees presumably dead Potter in hands of Hagrid, doesn't really matter. When Harry reveals himself to be alive, Draco still would not throw his wand to him, because Voldemort is still alive and presumably much more powerfull than 17 year old Harry. Voldemort could easily kill Draco on the spot for betrayal, or later, after his possible victory, punish him in a most cruel way for helping the enemy. So - no, Draco's deleted scene in the movie doesn't make sence from any wiewpoint. It does not mach his character and deletes the grand reveal in the end - that Harry has Draco's wand and as such is the master of Death. Draco was not a bad person, but he was not so selfless either, to risk his life for a possibly lost battle... About me mentioning Narcissa - I just tried to show, that Dracos redemption came later, after the battle of Hogwarts. Harry knew, of course, that Narcissa's lies helped him to win, because, if she had told the truth, Harry could be killed for real right there on the spot. Her lies helped Harry to win, so after the battle of Hogwarts, when all the deatheaters and their helpers were brought to court, Harry acknowledged Narcissas help and let the Malfoy family go without punishment. That led to Draco's redemption and their collegial relationship later.
specially the goodbye scene with the dursleys was a big F! i saw the movies before reading the books so i was really shocked to see such a touching scene. his cousin even asking "why is he not coming with us?" made you realize that he's actually worried for harry. it was SO good!
I always recommend reading the books after watching the movies for those who haven’t read them before because it fills SO MANY GAPS and allows the reader to visualize the imagery if they’re not really into reading.
That scene with Snape just kills me. He knows what's coming and doesn't want it to come. And the scene with his Aunt too. Most of these shouldn't have been deleted! One of the others not mentioned was specific lines from the books including during the Occlumency lessons with Severus. I mean he says some useful information about controlling the mind and emotions. The other is where Severus showed the Minister his Dark Mark. I thought that was such a pivotal scene in the books. There were so many scenes that could've changed things. I believe they even deleted a part of Severus' memories. Basically anything dealing with Severus I wish they didn't take away.
I wish the entire Pensieve scene in HBP was closer to what was in the book. Also, they should have had a scene in the start of DH when Hermione is explaining what she's learned about Horcruxes from the books she'd accio'd from Dumbledore's office at the end of HBP. She'd described how rare it was for someone who'd created one to try to destroy it & reunite the halves of their soul. She described how the Horcrux destruction process would likely kill the creator, subjecting them to the most painful experience possible. Because later, in the Pensieve, Harry watches a memory when Snape is on the floor of Dumbledore's office, wailing & screaming "like a mortally wounded animal", like how Hermione had described earlier. Snape being willing to face a horrific death in order to destroy his only Horcrux (which I think he'd created by killing his father, like Tom Riddle had done) would have been the only real way to prove to Dumbledore that he no longer served the Dark Lord.
I always wished the producers made a scene where Snape sat Harry down and talked to him of when Harry saw a memory of his father being a bully to Snape.
no because harry died and gave a love protection to everyone who went to Hogwarts and draco did sooooo..... Plus voldy would be too busy trying to kill harry to bother
One of my favorite scenes while reading the Deathly Hallows was when Dudely tells Harry "I don't think you're a waste of space." Was disappointed it was not in the movie. Now I'm even more disappointed to learn it was deleted scene.
Harry DID have a wand He stuck it in his jacket's pocket before he was "killed" by voldemort in the forest The moment between Malfoy and potter is touching obviously, but the reasoning is incorrect
I absolutely agree with the Dursley’s deleted scenes needing to be in the movie. I was so disappointed with the theatrical cut. After Harry saved Dudley his feelings towards Harry changed dramatically in the book. We just didn’t get to see it happen until the Dursleys had to leave since Harry didn’t stay with them for very long after that. As much as the series departed from the books that scene should have been left in since it would have been very close to the emotion of the book, and gave Dudley his redemption. I even thought both the book and the movies should have had Harry and Dudley having reunited in the epilogue with *gasp* Dudley having a child that was Wizard or Witch who was only a few weeks younger than one of Harry’s kids and they’re all a close family. The scene with Severus would have been great, and the scene with Tonks and Lupin had me getting choked up just watching this. The scene with Malfoy absolutely doesn’t need to be in the film. The whole duel between Voldemort and Harry was compared to the book was ruined enough as it is. Harry bested Malfoy and took his wand while he and the others were held prisoner in the Malfoy home. That was why he was able to beat Voldemort since Malfoy was the one that won the wand from Dumbledore. As convoluted as the books ending may have been the movie was worse, and the deleted scene with Draco wouldn’t have added anything to have made it less so.
Dudley telling Harry he isn’t a waste of space is probably my favorite scene in the whole series.
It's so out of context in the films though, the scene was perfect in the book.

This scene with Petunia! It just makes so much sense! The goodbye from Dudley is also a moment many people speak about when talking about the books. It feels unfair to have left this scene out. @Cookie Icecream I don’t know what are you talking about, but that is your thing...
It made me hate Petunia even more.
@Mick Barnes maybe you should reply that to her, instead of saying it without her probably even seeing your comment..?

Draco giving Harry his wand was actually very important. Since the Elder wand actually belonged to Draco as well. It was a bit like them being paired together just like Harry and Voldemorts original wand were.
@@jeffreywrightphotography You do have a point there about the Dursleys. But The Malfoy scene should definitely have been included.
None of the scenes should have been deleted. They were all so good...

I loved Alan Rickman's character Snape.

Nothing you said in that, accept the quote, was true.

@@andreborgesaquino5699 probably kept dropping it on purpose so he wouldn't have to argue that it's a bad scene.
She's finally admitting to Harry and herself:
"When your mother was murdered , it broke me and I became a horrible person."
Right! They made LOTR 4 hours long! I would've loved seeing that much of the HP books made into the movie
While there were several scenes that would have improved the movies, the newly invented ones like Draco's redemption bs did not and do not belong. They completely go against canon.
Snape's perfect scene shouldn't have been deleted. His regret, his sacrifice, his mission, everything just blends in so well.
so sad
I'm guessing it was cut because anyone not caught up with the books weren't supposed to know Snape's intentions. It wasn't until you see Snape's memories that you know for sure why he killed Dumbledore.
6:00 this was the first time in the entire series (I think) where petunia refers to Lily as her sister without distain in her voice. It makes her sound like she actually cared for Lily, and thereby, Harry as well.
Seems like petunia was only mean because Vernon was. He was such an asshole, and as a wife she probably felt forced into being the same way.
Aunt petunia was a malignant narcissist. Harry saved Dudley's life, and only Dudley kept correspondence with Harry. Petunia wasted her entire life trying to feel superior.
@@notability-austingieselman5193 Petunia was rejected to hogwarts in the books Harry finds some letters from Dumbledore explaining to Petunia why she couldnt be at hogwarts, petunia and Lily were very close before Lily got selected

I understand that they wanted to follow the books, but I really do wish that they would have kept the Draco redemption scene.
If you get born into such a toxic and hateful household, its no surprise you'll become an asshole too. Its basic biology: children take over the behaviour of their parents.
Curious. Opening it, Harry read aloud:
"Harry, if this letter finds you, I'm glad. This might come as a shock, but I need your help, and... well, you're the only one I could think of. If you can, let's meet at Charing Cross Road on the 27th of August at 12pm. If you have a family, you can bring them too. Thanks, Big D"
Harry dropped the letter and his jaw fell open. How... how could this be? Big D... the writing, there was only one possibility. Dudley. But why? Why randomly now? And then it hit Harry like a Stupefy to the chest.
"Hey honey, what are you doing on the 27th August?"
The sun bore down on them, glaring off the glass from the surrounding buildings.

That's a grand idea. I bet JKR wishes she'd thought of it!
That would have been a perfect ending
J.K. Rowling has said in that she actually originally planned for Dudley to have a magical child but then realized no magical blood would ever get past Uncle Vernon's DNA.
Yep, would have loved that too, with Aunt Petunia looking proud too.
the editing team should be fired for not including the 3 seconds of Draco say "pOtTaH"
famous last words because I think that was his last "Pottah" in the movie
It was not their fault. Daniel couldn't catch the wand in any try, so they ended up giving up the scene...
“So what… like- that?”

Remus and Tonks Deathscene gets me every time... makes my heart hurt..
Oh my gosh thank you for this!!! Honestly, people and producers are nuts for cutting scenes like this!!!! Even in the DVDs!!!! I don’t know where you can get an UNCUT movie anymore!!!!
I think another 3 you should have mentioned are critical - and they’re all in Goblet of Fire
He then leaves before Snape says “Not so fast Mr.Potter” and Snape accuses him of stealing from his stores for Polyjuice potion
3. Don’t forget they cut the “mini concert” at the Yule Ball
There are many other scenes in all the movies, but these are the biggest for me.

I agree. It's a nice idea but too much of a deviation from the book.
In the book version, Harry retained his wand (the one he took from Draco while at Malfoy Manor) and his invisiblity cloak.
specially the goodbye scene with the dursleys was a big F! i saw the movies before reading the books so i was really shocked to see such a touching scene. his cousin even asking "why is he not coming with us?" made you realize that he's actually worried for harry. it was SO good!

Well if Draco gave Harry his wand in front of Voldemort, he would kill him, wouldn't he?
That’s probably the real reason they deleted the scene
kinda true
Probably, and if he would've killed draco I would never have gotten over it😔.
Yes.
no because harry died and gave a love protection to everyone who went to Hogwarts and draco did sooooo..... Plus voldy would be too busy trying to kill harry to bother
The Dudley scene isn’t in the movie, but it’s in the book
One of my favorite scenes while reading the Deathly Hallows was when Dudely tells Harry "I don't think you're a waste of space." Was disappointed it was not in the movie. Now I'm even more disappointed to learn it was deleted scene.
The version I watched had all these scenes. I’m glad because I made more sense with them on it.
Harry DID have a wand
He stuck it in his jacket's pocket before he was "killed" by voldemort in the forest
The moment between Malfoy and potter is touching obviously, but the reasoning is incorrect
You actually sound like Sheldon Cooper 🤓
Exactly!
They should have kept the part were draco yelled POTAh it was so awesome
I wanted that scene where draco give his wand i think many of us wanted
Yes sooo :/
