Can you believe I'm listening this most melodious song for last 50 years. I have turned out to be worn out because of age factor. But not this song sung by greatest singer Hemant Kumar and music by music wizard S.D. Burman.
    Really this song is immortal!

I lost my father when I was 12, almost 18 years ago, and this was his favorite song. We used to both hear this with the lights out, the moonlight falling into the room through the window. It was a magical moment and he made me appreciate each and every note . This song is invaluable to me.

the tune is soooooo refreshing...its really hard to find someone from my age-group who apprecialte such classic old songs...(im just 19) u may even hear my generation people say "hindi gaane kon sunta h? i love chainsmokers or one direction" i mean i love english songs as well and following a western lifestyle doesn't necceassarily mean that u forget ur roots and an art is an art, and one who can appreciate art is an artist himself/herself ... many songs now a days are all about materialism (gaadi, ladki, daaru) and then u want people to change their mentality.. such double standards!!! im a burman sir, hemant kumar and dev anand fan btw

Saloni Sharma , a classical song that fill the lonelyness . In English as well there are too many artists like Bastille, Coldplay, 1republic(my all time favorite) ,Nirvana ,and many more .in this generation it's hard to find people that listen classical hindi songs and watches art cinema, u said it right

    Such a hauntingly, beautiful song.
I was 8 years old when I first heard it. I sat glued to the Bush radio belonging to my uncle, and listened to it's magical melody.
Though I did not understand the lyrics of the song , all that mattered to me was the sweetness of it's notes , which held me spell bound.
Now I am 77 and this song still has the same appeal. Timeless!

Late SDB dada, a royal from Tripura and a Bengali by birth, composed the guitar notes that is typical Goan. Specially between 0 to 10 seconds. This takes you straight to the beaches, the palm trees and the moon. This is pure genius. Shot at Malwan near Goa by the legendary late Guru Dutt.

Love is a war between the mind and heart, the mind cannot beyond the boundaries set by society, where as there are no boundaries for heart! This is the classic struggle in which most of the times, we stifle our own heart. Only those who have loved know, if the mind wins, you are like a dead body, alive but devoid of life, but in those magical moments when heart wins, you come alive, for a change you start living. Gurudutt, knew this and SD Burman knew this, that is why this song has happened this way audio visually. And, regardless of age, you heart Celebrates listening to it! This one is Immortal!

In case of SD Burman, Dev Anand, or for that matter no one had any say. For this song SD Burman chose Hemant Kumar. The writer Sahir went and complained to Guru Dutt the director of the film. Guru Dutt asked SD Burman what was going on. SD replied he was the music director and will tolerate no interference. Sahir was not happy. He decided that in future he will never work with SD Burman. When the song became super-hit, Sahir continued to work with Burman Dada.
