- Playing through the [supposedly] hardest Contra game ever.
All stages are shown as well as endings. Savestates used for multiple decisions and in case of distractions.
I did planned to try not to lose a life, but I got tired of going through the same boss over and over or dying against that one boss over and over (Stage 6A first boss. Unpredictable)
Hm....

Candidate for hardest stage: Alien Lair
Candidate for favorite boss: Big Magnum
Best Contra game and best Genesis game.
The best!!!! The best of all contras, without doubts!!!!
Yep, it's an amazing game!
who needs cocaine when you could play this game... :S
I miss this game! I never actually finished playing it by myself but I remember watching my older brother play through the entire game over and over. It was so much fun, damn.
I always loved how everything in this one was like 1.5 times faster than the other games. I remember seeing how fast the random robot enemies moved and going "whoa".
WERY BEST GAME FROM SEGA & MY CHILDHOOD 90'! MANY THANKS!
Can't beat the game, so I just enjoy watching play-throughs. This was by far the best IMO.
In other news, the isht people do to save the world. Wow.
if you can't beat this game you must be part of the Millennial generation. the generation that gives up on the first continue
the best contra, so much story line andmany weapon, and its 1994 and in sega. WELL DONE!
to me this was first game ever to introduce multi-endings, it was a jaw dropping feature back then.
Those soldiers at 1:08:55 are just having fun.
This is by far, the best Contra game I've ever played. I always turn the volume so high until my mother come and scolded me. Best soundtrack, best gameplay system and awesome smoothness, best storyline , best effects and best explosion.
13:12...........Vampire Killer??????
Holy shit, Michael Bay if he ever made a game in 1994.
Greyghostvol1 actually, Robert Rodriguez direct this game...;)
I played this game years ago when I was still a kid on my Sega Genesis with my cousin. And it's one of the hardest games I ever played. You're awesome. Thanks for showing me this video.
Thanks for the upload! Kick-A*s for finishing the whole thing without loosing a single life. I used to play this one when I was a kid and was never able to finish it. Few years later I got addicted to high end PC gaming and never looked back on this one. I always wanted to know how this game ended.
Damn. It looks like this game has only bosses and mini-bosses. Thats great.
has the stages too , but on the whole it is more similar to Alien Soldier in this regard.
Thanks for the upload of this jewell
This game was ahead of its time, so much futuristic and awesome actions same as other games were like that before. But sadly now when people can create anything with powerful engines, they don't bother to make anything like this, all they care now is to copy other games and ideas and make money on dlc, expansions, etc.
Hrm it was behind it's time.
extremely good music
This was the best game on the Sega Megadrive in my opinion. I loved how there was almost no repetition in terms of trash mobs, and it was mainly just boss after boss. Special thanks go to this particular upload, as this is the 1st time I've seen a longplay with all of the possible endings. This by the way was called Probotector in my country (the UK) and the alien cell was referred to as the "x drive". Not sure why stuff like that got renamed. Characters looked different too, maybe due to regional preferences?
Yes. It's becouse of regional preferences. In Europe they changed humans into robots, part of dialogs and name of the game thats how it became Probotector. Version of the game on this video (USA version) is almost the same as Japan version. Except in Japan they had 3 hit life bar per life, so you coud lose your weapon only after loosing being hit 3 times. Uh... Ummmm... Sorry. I think you already know everything about this. Sorry for being Captain Oblivious.
devastator55 Hehe, "Captn Obv" :-) Thanks anyway though. This game wasn't the easiest I've completed by a long shot, but having a life bar per life probably makes it a bit too easy!
Benjy Dale When I was playing Contra Hard Corps for the first time, even with life bar it was very hard for me. But now after all this years it's easy with life bar.
What's funny is that a lot of people, myself included, put Contra 3 as one of the best SNES games ever made. Back in the day, when it came time to make a Contra game, Konami didn't fuck around.
Dr.Beef , Contra 4 is no slouch, either, even though Konami themselves did not make the game directly.
Watched the whole thing, good job bro, I have alot of respect for players like you
I didn't know this had so many endings... wow...
Ahh Yes! I remember I first bought this game when it first came out and wasn't too impressed by it. Had it a while then sold it. Fast forward almost 20 years later and I want it back and need to have it! Funny how things work.
all of this seemed so hard when i was a kid
Some of the staff were credited with pretty strange roles. "Help Man," "Nice Guy," "Bike Man"?
on JP they kept their names under secret, it was pretty common but sadly we wont be able to know who were the geniuses behind many great games
They took these fake names because initially it was common for dev teams or publishers to poach people from each other in Japan if they made good games. This way no one would know the real names of people working on each game. Now why would they, instead of something like "enemy programming," write "Bike Man," since that seems to have happened in this game's credits? Bad translation?
More and more interesting endings than Mass Effect 3. Just think about that.
Thank you for the memories!! The robot with the long arms used to send me into a panic as a kid. lol
This game has like 5 diffrent endings!
Manvydas Šabonas Six, actually.
Great video. I only think Hard Corps is declared as the "Hardest" Contra game out there because it's fast as hell; you have less reaction time to anything coming your way, unless you are an avid Contra player...
The easiest suits it more.
I doubt that this is the best game ever, nor even the best Contra game ever. But I can tell that this game is the most fun-to-play-again-and-again-and-again-........ I've lost count on how many times i beat this game and repeat it all the way just to know all of the character's ending scene. And i never got bored. I'd play it again the other day and again. Browny is my favorite (at some stage i don't even need to duck since he's small), but i just can't stop playing them all since everyone has their own unique arsenals. Damn i love this game.
Where i can get it
Filemon Vazques try emulator
It's not about being flashier, the Genesis was just better suited for action games.
can't believe this is the hardest contra game ever. finished this game lots of times on different characters and all endings nice job on this playthrough though.
this looks to be a really great game, in terms of level-design.
i love how irregular some of the stages were..
..i think they had a lot of fun with Hard Corps.
Imagine if a system came out back then that had the CPU and co-processor of the Genesis, but the Super Nintendo's color palette, sound ability, and controller. To me, that system would kill anything back then. I tend to prefer more games on Super Nintendo but I admire Genesis speed and the lack of censorship. They are both awesome machines, to me that was still the best time for gaming (along with Amiga).
That feeling when you can identify four main characters purely by the sound of their weapons...
Also for anyone curious - there also exists an alternative version called Probotector, much more censor-heavy and with all main characters replaced with robots. Who knows for what reasons.
I love Contra the hard corps... is my favorite game of sega
This game is sooo badass!!!
The most hardcore game!! It is a pity that did not make the continuation =( Thanks a lot for "Sega Mega Drive" and this crazy game. And yes, my favorite character is a cyborg dog =p
+Space Cat It actually does have a "sequel". Contra : Hard corps. Uprising.
no, thanks is not a game, and the trash
All the final bosses in this game are truly terrifying. So disgusting. Love the Genesis' less strict rules about game censorship.
Look at all that blast processing!!
And to think Bahamut was such a hero back in the day.
Wait, so this game's "multiple endings" feature entire levels and final bosses with differing motivations...? And every game that's promised "multiple endings" since just changes about ten seconds of the final cutscene...?
...WTF happened?!?
+Jack Caliber Two things: augmentation of technology, and astronomical popularity of videogames happened. If you worked in this industry, you would know just the manpower and countless hours it takes to actually make shit like this with advanced 3d graphics/software, as opposed to how videogames were made back then. Also not to mention publishers telling studios how focus groups didn't like something long after it was already done, and months of work has to be scrapped and restarted. Sorry, but until Publishers stop holding studios hostage with stupid holiday/event deadlines and released games when they actually get done properly (like Valve), then we're not gonna see quality like this for a loooong time.
+Karl Schecht Valve? Are you referring to Left 4 Dead 2? I can't think of any other example with Valve as a publisher. I'd be more ready to cite someone like Capcom, Konami, Koei Tecmo, Bandai Namco, EA (especially with BioWare games)...They all love their DLC endings, really hard. Heck, Capcom even made the ending itself, of which there was *one*, DLC, for CC2's creation, Asura's Wrath. I thought that was totally insane. Yes, you *could* unlock it through an absurd amount of gameplay time that had nothing to do with enjoyment or story mode (and I don't mean the "good ending", I mean *any* ending), but otherwise it was purchasable, and that's crazy.
+Karl Schecht Remember that actually programming crew for Starcraft has no more than 15 people(or less, if I remember correctly).
Nowadays, well........................
+Karl Schecht i have a question, why videogames back then were so good and games nowadays are terrible in comparison? why the games back then were insanely hard compared to games nowadays (don't tell me dark souls is hard because the game is nothing compared to super ghouls n ghosts or contra series for example).
Greetings
+Ramiro1992 (Mr_X) You can say the game back then were more simple and effective(mechanism wise), and the amount of features and complexity of the code start to slow the developers down? Plus the scale of the project goes so big that making a game now become so expensive, therefore comes the higher risk. This makes dev to come up something marketing department want them to do, rather than what is actually fun, just like the movie nowadays. That just personal opinion.
I had this game in japanese language. Boy, I couldn't understand shit. The whole thing was a like a weird acid trip to me when I was a kid
best game of my childhood epic
13:20 castlevania music though! good one konami!
Yeah vs afro belmont
My only problem with this game, is the speed. Everything just goes way too fast. If they game was simply slowed down slightly, it'd be way more fun for me.
these were the days of sonic the hedgehog, while snes had better graphics, sega Genesis boasted the illusion of speed. I think the intro is badass 0:53 ..your riding an armored bus and roadkilling your way into the level as you fly out of the windshield, while taking taking out a walking tank..what more can you ask for?
tudycasillas I could ask for some waffles to go with it.. but I don't wanna get greedy.
tudycasillas No it LOOKED cool. I'm not arguing that. It's just as far as playing it, it feels like everything's happening too fast. You barely have time to react to anything.
Same too, they set the game speed in "turbo" so the boos battles are less enjoyable for me. Too fast, More deaths.
58:00 the song heard during this stage was remixed for the "Contra Rebirth" game for the Nintendo Wii. The remixed version really rocks!.
man, I remember this game. My brother and I used to play it all the time. We never got that far without cheats, though.
Я и не представлял что в этой игре так много концовок Оо
Великолепное прохождение ! Спасибо за видео!
Genius game. Way ahead of its time
Nice.... There are many scenarios to this much complicated game... But it is much realistic in accordance with the story line...But is it really NES???
13:10 - it's the Vampire Killer tune from Castlevania
Dunno if it's the hardest but I still say it's hands down the best. Nice.
Check out alien soldier! This is the game that showed what sega genesis is truly capable of! Perfect voice, sound, music and graphics!
I own the PAL cartridge of this, trust me when i say how much they gutted the censored version, almost all cutscenes taken out, dialogue, 1 ending, everything changed to robots and aliens, 10hz slower
I think the Foggy Cave In The Dark ending was the best. At the very least, it left it open for another game in the series.
epic music epic ending in routes
5:23 My favorite boss.
06:43 - Damn! He blew himself up!
Incidentally, just a question about the story. A number of videos I've seen label the Alien Cell on the missile ending as the best one. Ignoring the "join Bahamut" ending and the "back in time" joke ending, I mostly get this, since the Big Magnum ending has the Magnum cause a lot of damage, and you die as the station explodes, while the Red Falcon ending has Bahamut escape, but why would it be preferable to the Ultimate Superbeing ending? The Cell and Bahamut are destroyed in that one, just like in the Alien Cell ending; what does the Alien Cell ending do that the Ultimate Superbeing ending doesn't?
i fucking love this game
The train level is actually used in Contra Advance: The Alien Wars DX (or the GBA remake of Contra III on the Super Nintendo).
I was beating this in th 90s when I was nine or ten great job this game is hard af
You guys must've been really good!
3:33 she's really friendly with that rifle
Yeah it is. Reason why they call it Blast Processing is because the Sega Genesis Processor runs 10x faster than the SNES.
if you look at the specs. the SNES runs at 3.58 MHz while the Sega genesis runs at 7.61 MHz.
Nope that's not the reason.
JPN version has life bar, which is 3-hit and you're dead + 70 lives code >.<
that's not fair
Never understood why this is considered the hardest Contra game ever. It's the only one I can actually finish, and that without losing a single life !
Actually all contra titles up to the playstation ones were localized as "Probotector" games.
There was Probotector and Probotector II: Return of the Evil Forces on NES and Probotector III: Alien Rebels on SNES.
This one was simply known as "Probotector" though but is usually refered to as Probotector MD (megadrive) to avoid further confusion. :)
I can see where sony playstation's Einhander got some of their boss fights from and common ranged battles..
In the PAL region all human enemies in Contra where replaced with robots and the name was changed to "Probotector".
never knew this game existed...hard corps is amazing..
Holy shit 13 minutes in has me trippin out lol
if I ever make a video game, I want it to be like this only more 90's rad (if that's possible)
13:22 Castlevania theme!
Contra Hard Corps > Contra 3
Castlevania Bloodlines > Castlevania 4
And Phantasy Star 4 > Final Fantasy 6
All thanks to blast processing!
Phantasy Star 4
I loved the little robot.
I don't care what version of contra I love them all
less H.R.Giger works more charactors selections more pattern attack bosses more ending what else to deny ? I love it ,such a missing link better than some some dieborn version
this game looks good
It's a very good game, one of the best on the system.
Erm...that kind of weirdness at around 14:00 is something I'd expect from a Metal Slug game rather than Contra. 0.o
this game is like super metroid with more fun and action!! luv it!
Спасибо Вам за такое прохождение!! Крутооо!!
Just curious, which parts of Contra 4 did you think were cheaply designed? My experience was that it's difficulty was a product of me making a mistake.
memories 😍😍😍
that arena......was the coolest
A lot of these games can be found on Gamefabrique that is if you like old school gaming like this.
Wow, someone who doesn't play Fang. I didn't know such people existed.
one of the bests!!!
damn, only if you were with and my cousin back in 1999,your jaw would have dropped, lol
we had challenges to finish all endings without getting damaged once,i was doing it almost everytime, lol.
those were the good old days
Why would the game stop at the train / robot fight btw, since you move back to the choices of being caught or not after that fight?
3 worst ending and 2 best ending of this game
XD!
So photographic memory was your best friend, huh?
you made my day !!!
I remember being so disappointed at doing the arena and having the game end so abruptly. Also, shopping cart monsters! I used to pause this game and draw the creatures. Far out designs.
Then how come at least one song (Quick Man's) had to get slowed down from the NES for The Wily Wars?
Awesome job!
This game is awesome, but it is definitely not the hardest. Contra III on the Super Nintendo is a lot more challenging but Hard Corps is definitely more fun. It took a while to figure out all the different routes, which gave this game a lot of replay value.
2 options yet 3 possibilities. Someone please explain this to me. I used to play this all the time when I was younger and I never got the exploding base scenario.
I never understand "inside" part. How does the hero come up inside that alien being?~
GREAT PLAYING !
THANKS ! )
