Lengthy talking - oh, yes. I'm still confused about how a conversation is supposed to go if I'm not info-dumping. This topic is just so interesting, you've gotta let me tell you about it. In detail. Oh, and to make sure you get maximum benefit, let's make sure you understand all the background information, too. It's an injustice to you and the topic for me to be anything other than thorough.

How do you expect me to withhold info about the Stephen King multiverse, the symbolism of Silent Hill, the lore of Dead Space, or horror movie trivia? Information like this should be on a must know basis, and it'd be a disservice to you if I didn't tell you every little detail! How can you live life without knowing that the streets in Silent Hill are named after horror authors? How can you live with yourself not knowing that Stephen King was high off his ass while filming Maximum Overdrive?

the act of making eye contact is stressful for some people affected severely by autism. But there are many autistics WHO can make eye contact

    • @TheArtofFugue
      @TheArtofFugue 3 года назад +4

Yes there are! It is not a hallmark of autism, not making eye contact. However, likewise for myself, it causes me this deep, uneasy, almost disgruntled feeling in my whole body, most my core. I have gotten very overwhelmed by too much eye contact.

I can definitely confirm the eye contact-thing. It just feels way to intimate. Looking my wife in the eyes is fine and good. But looking any other random person in the eyes just feel wrong.

I have recently started being evaluated for ASD. RUclipsrs are the reason I started the process with your channel having the biggest impact. I knew I was different my entire life. I always felt like an outsider. Your videos about autistic traits really helped me understand. I came across your channel when I searched to see if I could get an idea why I was so sensitive to sound and textures. I brought up the subject to my therapist, and she told me it explained a lot of my issues. She helped me get the process started with a provider who could help. I am 34 and never knew why felt so different. I just wanted to say thanks. Even if the evaluation comes back with a different result than ASD I am still very thankful.

If you have any truth, heart felt doubt about your diagnosis, obviously you should seek a better diagnosis (if it’s available to you), as I understand many people do not have this privilege. I was misdiagnosed with adhd at around 4yrs old. I only recently had the autism slap in the face, and began understanding myself after I completely melted down while hyper fixated on my PhD thesis. I was lost, didn’t know what the hell was going on with me, so I scoured the internet and ultimately ended up at Dan here, who has allowed me to understand and express my self properly and accordingly to what my body and mind require. Kinda went a little long lol, sorry, but yeah overall you should definitely get to the bottom of this before it’s too late, from personal experience.

Am talking about how u are most likely autistic especially if Both of ur kids are, there are some strong aspie genes..
Most aspies have bulging eyes and cross eyed too, whereas our neurotypical eyes tend to be level and aligned, thats why it's easier for us to process information between brain hemispheres quickly and why we have a social brain, our eyes are deeply embedded in sockets.

Yep. I'm all of those things you mentioned. As I've stated before, I'm not formally diagnosed but I could have been. Upon my initial screening they agreed I was autistic on the very first screening and wanted further evaluation but I didn't follow through. Anyway, I developed an obsessive interest in diabetes after my own diabetes diagnosis over 6yrs ago. I learned so much, done so well with my own diabetes, and shared so much info the online diabetes community I was in that they ran a story in me and then ended up offering my a job working for them as a contributer. My obsessive interest benefited my own health and landed me a nice side job as well. My own RUclips is T2D Warrior with emphasis on health & diabetes. When I talk to other people, even other diabetics & doctors even, I just blow their minds with the amount of info I be telling them about on the subject. I've definitely become an expert in it and have actually reversed my diabetes.

Question for ya'll. I haven't heard it mentioned here before. BUT. Do you hang on to stuff people have said to or about you? I'm talking for years and years?
For instance, I'm 57 now, and when I was working at a big box store over 15 years ago this happened.
I was ringing up a"guest" and as far as I know, I didn't say anything bad to her. She left my lane and immediately found a manager.
I saw her looking at me, and talking to my manager. I tried to walk up to see what I had done wrong, she put her hand out and told me to stay away from her. I had done enough!
I was REALLY confused as I ran through the whole transaction over and over in my mind. I could not figure out what I had done to make her even a little bit upset.
Eventually she left, and I went to the manager asking what I did. So I could fix it. Turns out the lady was actually a big "KAREN" and I really did nothing wrong. I said uh-huh to something she had asked. And she was NEVER going to shop at that store again!! AND I gave her the WORST shopping experience she'd EVER had!!
Anyway, the point is. I remember stuff VIVIDLY! And although I was told it was no big deal by my manager. It STILL upsets me to this day? I'm sure the lady who did it probably doesn't even remember it!
But stuff like that is always re- playing in the back(sometimes front) of my mind and i CAN'T let it go!!!
Even just within the past two weeks, a neighbor said something, that might not even been aimed at me, but it's burned into my BRAIN!! probably forever!

Hey thank you for making all of your autism/neurodivergent related content, I personally really enjoy your videos. I have a referential question: when engaged in social banter or when having a discussion IN PERSON, do you not only avert your gaze from the speaker but also orient your head and ear specifically to better adjust yourself to actively listen to them? It kinda helps me limit the amount of stimulus while also it genuinely increases my listening capabilities. I was just wondering...

Your videos are good, and you speak fast (which I prefer a lot). But if there were written overlays (somewhere on screen and big in size) while passing the bullet points like "Eye Contact", it would make your videos 10x more watchable for aspies like me. As far as you know, most of us are not good verbal listeners. Cheers and keep up the good work!

Plus I am stuck on one actor to the point where people tired of me talking about him. My biggest interest is movies, Funkos and music. I am studying to be film director and that is one of the biggest interest. In social situations sometimes I know what to say and sometimes I don't have a clue what to say that's why I never went to high school parties or had so many friends. I have the last 3. #2 difficulty socialising, I had this when younger. As I've gotten older it's gotten easier, but I still have some anxiety over it. Mostly it feels uncomfortable until I find the flow of the interaction/s. #1. I had a dream when I was about 22 and realised I never saw eyes in dreams because I never looked in people's eyes. I forced myself to start doing that. At first it was really hard, but over time I became comfortable with doing it and now I have no issue with it at all.
I didn't watch the video but read the list from the description, because even though I'm an oversharer, I get frustrated when people talk on and on and on about a topic.

I have a question that I can't find an answer to. My ex I always called a case study, and just figured out recently he's most likely on the spectrum. He's back in my life- one of the issues was he goes from woman to woman every two years.. he'll never go longer than 2 years. Is this a thing with aspergers? He recently told me he's tired of the short-term relationships. Anyway, I've always loved him but have issues with trust with him. He was always nice and giving to me, and told me I was the nicest person he's ever met. I'm keeping my distance and just being friends, but wondered if cheating and always having a woman on the side is a thing? 😕🤔 Thank You
