  • I discuss several career options for astronomy majors. I have a bachelor of science degree in astronomy from the University of Maryland, College Park, and had to go through the process of figuring out what to do for a career when I graduated, eventually landing on actuarial science.

Finding a job after graduating can definitely be really difficult. What I would say is to keep going; someone will eventually bite eventually. Leverage any connections you may have, and maybe even consider jobs that you may not think you're qualified for. Also, it may be that you'll have to do something unrelated to your major to start, but you'll be able to pivot later on once you have some more experience. It sounds like you do have relevant experience, but time can be on your side if you are patient.

When you say Astronomy, are you also referring to astrophysics ? Because I heard that astronomy and astrophysics are the same thing. Is this true ?

Correct. Astronomy and astrophysics are typically used synonymously.

Can I go for a Master in Astronomy with a PoliSci undergraduate?

I'm sure it's possible. You might need to try and somehow get some kind of relevant experience first in order to get accepted though. It seems like you would need some kind of background in math and physics in order to be able to keep up.
