  • My brothers fish, big ol' Mauro getting some snacks...
    For those of you wondering, Mauro is about 65cm and the tank size is 185x75x60cm. Mauro is today in a bigger tank (210x110x75 cm), but he did very well in this tank also. Eating, growing and always watching...

    Incredible fish. I found snakeheads very picky about their food, lucky to have him eating pellets

    • @HampusHertzman
      @HampusHertzman  6 лет назад +35

      It's justa matter of patience. Snakeheads are not difficult to get on to pellets. Stop feeding for a couple of days, and try soaking pellets in the food that yours eat (for example if you feed shrimps, squish some shrimps in a small container of water and let the pellets soak in there for a few minutes). The smell will make the fish try it, and at first it will probably spit it out. But eventually with enough time the fish will accept it.

    • @twasbrillig33
      @twasbrillig33 6 лет назад +6

      Good idea, but the problem I had was that my snakehead decided to try to eat the other fish rather than take on the pellet food. =D

      @edenofcalamity7276 6 лет назад +5

      I've never know a snakehead to be picky about its food, ive seen them eat fish including other smaller snakeheads,frogs,snakes,lizards,small ducks, crawfish,insects and even small turtles, but being in captivity versus wild does make some animals go through unusual changes, after some time ina tank they tame and get less agresive but in the wild especially during spwan season you dont want to be near them they will not hesitate to attack someting way bigger then them to protect thier fry.

    Fish are one of the most perfect, beautiful, powerful, adaptable, dangerous and truly fascinating creatures in Nature. Fish are always changing, adapting, mutating and evolving towards becoming the most perfect organism.
    Fish can come in an unimaginable number of shapes and infinite variety of species, they can be in many sizes, have many, many bizarre and beautiful colors and have amazing patterns on their bodies along with having such fascinating and wonderful behavior characteristics.
    And fish are quite easily capable of dominating all the lands, waters and skies of Nature. If they were given the right adaptations, mutations and if they were given the right elemental and environmental conditions.

    • @HampusHertzman
      @HampusHertzman  5 лет назад

      If they are still babies, you should probably feed them what ever they eat for a while so they build up some thickness and get healthy. It's not good for baby fish to go long without food. So then when they are a bit bigger, if they haven't accepted pellets yet, you can starve them for a few days at a time and only offer the pellets. I mostly use Hikari and Northfin.

      @HampusHertzman  3 года назад

      Its my brother's fish, so he's the one who made him eat pellets. Not too sure how long it took but channas are pretty easy... I would say about 1 week at a time is good. Like try starving for a few days, offer pellets, and repeat. If he does not eat it and a week goes by, give him something that he eats. Then repeat, starve, offer pellets until he accepts it... If it's a very young fish, don't starve too long... If it's and adult fish you can starve longer.
