Well, it can't be blamed that the ancestors of the Chinese or Taiwanese became biological laboratory rats for the Japanese Imperial Army. and all of that can't be returned and erased with money, oh don't forget Korea because their ancestors experienced the same thing. Teaching children to stomp, walk on, and wipe their feet on a flag is disgusting behavior from the adults involved.
Edit: Im not reading all of the arguments for the opinions under this comment, I do think there is many people with reasonable opinions towards other countries due to their own experiences from the past, however my point in my original comment was that regardless of what you have experienced, kids should be allowed to form their own opinions and telling them who to hate is disgusting. The world is always changing and not one single major developed country on this planet can say they have never committed any atrocities. So teaching a child to stomp on a flag because of the idea, “that country is bad and we are good” is ridiculous and ignorant. Kids are the future of all of our societies so training them into hatred towards other countries because of something from decades in the past is a disgusting way of refusing to move forward.
The past is absolutely ugly for essentially everyone but if you allow the next generation to form their own opinions about society and other people, they tend to avoid hatred and create a brighter future
And to clarify, I’m not some type of peace loving hippy who believes war is useless or that everyone needs to love each other . I believe in fighting for what you think is right, but let your kids form their own beliefs and let them fight for what they think is right once they’re older. I just think it’s disgusting to pass your own hatred onto the next generation.

The best solution is for japan to adopt the same policy of Germany so that the recovery can start and both sides can reconcile the horrors of war. Never forget national humiliation, never forget history. From 1931 to 1945, China was extremely short of weapons and had to set up a "machete team". The popular war song in China at that time, the lyrics "There are no guns, no cannons, the enemy makes them for us", is a true portrayal of China's hardships at that time. The tenacious will of the Chinese soldiers never backed down. The Chinese soldiers used cold weapons to fight against the machine guns and cannons of the Japanese army, and used machetes to seize various weapons from the Japanese army. Often more than ten people were sacrificed to seize a machine gun. The difficulties in China at that time were ten times more difficult than those in Palestine today. Remembering history, being grateful to ancestors, and revitalizing China, the Chinese spirit completely defeated the Bushido spirit of Japan, forcing Japan to use the "high-tech weapons" of the time - biological weapons and chemical weapons - without scruples on the battlefield.

As someone who was raised in the American education system, you only learn about the holocaust, pearl harbour, and the atom bombs. Then they came out and were hostile to the US which was Japan's ally/overlord. so they literally were forbidden from doing anything for or to west taiwan by their own treaty with the US. Then ever since west Taiwan has been hostile to its neighbors ever since so again cannot give them settlements or reparations or anything. Also important factor west Taiwan lost their war with japan. If the entire Korea peninsula had gone the same route as west Taiwan they too would not receive anything either.

I understand this, they both had a hate war and are both justified in their feelings on the matter. It's a war that had no survivors other than the ones who could fight or got away. If you were caught, you got the "pilots treatment". If you were a soldier or fighter, you would rather be captured in Germany than Japan. At least there you would be worked or killed. In Japan and eastern Asia, you would be beat, tortured, mutilated, Presented, shamed, harassed, starved, tested on or a number of many other things.
I know I went off a little here. However I am simply stating why this kind of hate is understandable from this time. I hate knowing that any of it happened but at least I am aware and have a reason instead of trying to breed hate into others nearly a century later.

This education began in the 1980s after the Tiananmen Square incident. At the time, criticism was being directed at the current government in China, so anti-Japanese education was started to redirect the people's anger and criticism. Before the 1980s, not many people talked about the Nanjing Massacre, and at the time, a man from Nanjing at Peking University said that he had many relatives and siblings but had never heard of such a story. Chinese people don't talk about the Tongzhou mutiny where Chinese killed Japanese people before Nanking.

A senior secondary graduate in Japan rarely knows about unit 731 , Nanking and several war crimes . They went village by village and bayonetted men women and children . And don't you dare lecture the victim about forgiveness and morality you have no standing to do so .This may be their way of remembering history and promoting national unity.
