You made the best video on RUclips on installing the crash bars on the Rebel, great detail. I'm impressed you knew how to tap new threads on the bars, not many people know how to use tap & die sets.
Thanks! What a compliment. 😀 I'm glad you found it easy to follow. I had a bit of trouble with some other videos so thought I'd make my own and try and go step by step. 🤗
Good video, thanks for posting. I have held off getting these specific crash bars because they don't seem to do anything to protect the foot-pegs or more importantly, the controls (gear shift and rear brake lever). The only crash-bars I can see that may do this are the ones from T-Rex, but they are god awful square things and do nothing to enhance to look of the bike. If I am going to spend money on crash-bars (of which I am a long time fan) then I want them to do all they can to protect the side of my bike.
Thankyou!! 😃 I think overall they significantly minimise the damage but it's not possible to completely avoid small scratches. I found they protect the levers but not completely as the bars hit the ground before the levers. Thankfully the Rebel 500 has spring foot pegs (that fold up), I found it's more the exhaust that is most likely to get scratched. I agree the look wasn't my cup of tea, but 100% crash bars are worth it, even just for ease of picking it up. 😊
A couple days before I get a rebel for myself. Crash bars are well worth the price, and sure it does look a little worse but not enough for the practicality of it. If you’re interested in furthering looks you could check out a ‘tail tidy’ kit, just make sure it’s legal and has enough positive reviews. Love the work 🤙
Thanks! Yeah I still slightly prefer the look of the bike without them, but I'm definitely glad I got them.😃 I actually don't mind the look of the rear. I think the next mod will be some saddle bags/panniers. 🤗🤗
Great job Andy. You're very resourceful. I'm very impressed with mechanical skills and your strength. You're not a very big woman, yet you picked that bike up pretty easily. Stay safe...have fun...keep these videos coming.
I love it. First thing I am going to do and is get crash bars. I want a 500cc but a 300cc gets better fuel milage and better insurance rates. Can't decide
Yeah I would recommend putting them on even before riding it. The 300 isn't available in Australia, so I don't know much about it. I think the 500 looks a bit better tho cos the bigger engine fits the frame better 😍 The fuel economy is also really good on the 500, so i don't think the 300 would be much better. They have increased in price over the last two years or so. Hope that helps!
Enjoyed the video. Looks like kitty wants to ride as a passenger. To me the crash bars look good and give me a little more confidence. Saw someone else put the TRex crash bars on their Rebel 500.
Haha, he loves the bike! I've heard good things about the TRex crash bars. I was looking at putting those on but struggled to get any at the time. I might not of had the issue of bolts not fitting 😂
Great job and great review. I plan to swap my Honda Rebel 500 for a Kawasaki ninja 250R as l love sport bikes more because of the forward position. Keep up the good work!
I also want to make the test of lifting the rebel up, just in case something happens on the road, but I don't know how to drop it gently 😅, I am afraid it will fall too violently and something will break.
I used a yoga mat before I got crash bars. I was very nervous too. 😖 I would recommend getting someone to help you put it down and someone spotting you while you pick it up.😊 Watch a couple of RUclips videos on how to lift your bike, so you get a good technique... unlike me who grabbed the tank the first time I tried it, lucky it didn't do anything🤫 You can do it!! Although if you ever did drop it, it's amazing what adrenaline allows you to lift. Good luck! Let me know if you end up doing it and how you go😁
Andy Moto, you can't be catagorized as a "newbie"-new to the motorcycle riding world, and, know nothing about it. "Crash bars/engine guards are a MUST for new riders that are just learning. The "sliders" for the back-end of the bike you should look at getting REAL soon! More safety the better! It's "function before fashion" with biking.😁 ANY person that makes bad comments towards you because of your "safety standards", don't even deserve the time of day with their belittling comments! Get a windshield as well! You won't get knocked around by the wind as you ride at a quicker pace. Then, look at luggage bags/a back rest. All good items for a great ride experience! Make an example of yourself to girl's single digit age-as a role model- that females can grow up to be great bikers, and, not just the guys!🏍️❤️😇 Even the seasoned women could use a bit of encouragement! Offer to help cover the cost of their MSF course, if they are a bit short of the money needed to pay for the coursework! That declares "acceptance" as a female biker!😁👍😇🏍️ Go get 'um Andy! Doug, from the US🏍️🦅😎👍
Thanks for the info Doug! I did a lot of research before getting my bike, and it's a long learning process, so still feel like I have a lot to learn ! 😊I try to encourage people, but don't want any one to get hurt. I would love if the MSF it wasn't so expensive!
Hello! Here's some in the USA www.mxgear.com/thor-2021-force-xp-knee-guards/ and here's some in Aus www.easyr.com.au/thor-2021-force-xp-knee-guards-red I don't think they make them anymore so there aren't that many available

Hi, Andy. I had instaled the same crashbar in my Rebel!
Hello! That's cool, hopefully you didn't have to drill any extra holes and enjoy riding with them. 😃
@@andymoto no, I had to cut the screws because they hit the cooler fan. Ride safe!!!
😂😂 their quality control needs some work. Once they're on they're great! 😃
@@andymoto ✌️✌️✌️😉
Yay, it Looks like its so much easier to pick it up now. still looks super cool, Great move Andy Moto :-)
It definitely is! Sooo much easier 😀and yeah I think they don't look too bad. Thanks Sean!
Looks like you made a good choice Andy. Ride safe.
Peace
Thank you! And yes I think so! I'm happy with both the bike and the crash bars.😊

They do look much better than I thought they would and they work well! 😃
Love your content. 😊
Thanks Steve! 😃😃
still cant get my crash bars on, can't loosen the frame bolt😅
Haha took me a while too 😂 I should have used a long breaker bar and it would have been easier. Thanks for commenting. 😊
Is that bit that joins the bars at the front made out of metal or plastic? Admire your skills.
Thanks Ken! 😊 The one that came with my bars is metal
You rock girl.
You do! 🤗

Did u need to use a jack to install the bars?
Hey Dan! It's super easy, no jack needed 😀
May I know your height and weight? Pls
Short 😂 155cm (5ft.2) and 48kg 😃. I talk about being a small rider in some of my other videos and how the rebel is a great bike for storties.
