I have used the auto train like 6 times. You two are so cute!! So likable and nice!!
Advice to anyone that takes it. When you go back north don’t take 195 to Lorton because then you have to go west for quite awhile on a narrow and scary road and I was being attacked by strange giant bugs. Florida turnpike is an absolute pleasure in comparison…. If you’re coming from the southern Florida.

This is fantastic to watch, by video all the activity of the auto train, its locomotive with the connection of, many cars to pull along the way. God bless them always. They're everything in spirit. Wow! Listening to the information from this couple, from Maryland. Who're narrating the status of sleeping, the bedroom was given, not the bedroom suite they requested. Because it wasn't enough people, which I know because I would've myself. 2 persons, or 3 or more for the superliner bedroom. Family room is on, wow my goodness! Amtrak, you really are a gem of exquisite taste, in jewelry. Literally speaking! KUDOS!! I'm loving it!

I have written quite a few Amtrak trains going different places. The auto train is my favorite. I wrote it some years ago and I’m getting ready to ride it again this summer. Pricing goes by when you book it. The further in advance you book it the cheaper it is. Im paying $1100 round trip. If I add another person, it would cost anywhere from $29-$99 for them. The caboose sadly stopped being used in 1984. Glad y’all had a good time.

Hello : I would like to try it at least once (taking the Auto train to Florida)....however to be honest with you , the worst part of the drive on the East Coast is from Northern VA to Boston on 1-95. From Richmond to Florida is more relaxing and no major cities to go through. I went from Maryland to St. Augustine Florida in 12 hrs last Oct. I enjoy driving but don't like the conjestion on 95 in the Northeast. Great Video !!

My sister just took the Auto Train on Christmas day to Florida. Her home is on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. This is her second winter taking that particular train. She has golf tournaments to attend every year in late December & January in Sebring. I am so glad she finally decided to take this mode of transportation mainly because it is safer for her since she is close to 80 years old, she drives solo & tends to briefly fall asleep at the wheel...EEEK! and that I noticed over 20 years ago!!! As for me I haven't been to Key West in many years but the 999 mile drive doesn't excite me one bit anymore. The better alternative would be to drive from NC to Lorton, Va (about 3+ hours) & be relieved of the insane I-95 stress. Thanks for the impetus to perk up my imagination for a future vacation. Thanks also for sharing your experience & the great panoramic views. The only thing is, I would have liked to have known periodically what state & towns you were traveling when you videoed at the windows. Hope you both have a wonderful New Year 2023 celebration!

They wanted me to place a bid on how much I would pay to upgrade our coach seats. I'm not falling for that. We had a nice ride down (we're here in Orlando presently) in the first car behind the locomotives. Pro: no foot traffic between cars. Con: you can hear the horn all night and day.

The accommodations were spotless, and we were about fifth in line to enter the next day. The entrance line builds fast! But if you like to chance it and arrive before they close the gate, there was no one in line out front or at the checkin window inside the terminal. I gotta be there early....

Positives: IF the auto train is on time you cut out the travel headaches of driving. You minimize wear and tear on your auto. It is safer than driving yourself. You cut out the headache of delays due to road work, accidents, and possibly weather. Negatives: The auto train is often late, not only that but you rely on the return train to be on time. Amtrak gives dibs to the freight liners. Invariably you WILL wait for them to pass. Incidents can and do sometimes happen on the rails and sometimes delay you for many hours. The auto delivery is poorly executed at the end. There is absolutely no incentive to arriving early. Most trips in fact it seems the later cars are unloaded first, sometimes HOURS before you. Sanford switches the order of the car trains from Lorton I was told by an employee. In coach dinner is prepackaged food cooked in microwaves. Breakfast is continental, fair at best for what you pay. Amtrak has operated at a loss since instituted in 1971. It has never shown a profit. It shows in the condition of the cars, cleanliness, train speed and rail conditions. America is far behind European allies and Asian countries when it comes to safe speedy mass transit. So much so it is truly pathetic. Done correctly this could be a profitable time saving venture.

How was sleeping on the train? Were the beds ok?

Hi carol , honestly it was fine for us , but some people might not like it as much because of the bumpy tracks.
As far as comfortable beds I’ll give it a 6 out of 10 .
      Thanks for watching!

If you ride the Auto train pay the extra $95 each way for priority off loading. It’s well worth it.

Amtrak .. the worst railroad on earth .. it takes longer to go from NYC to Miami in 2023 than it did in 1946

The peak into the kitchen space of the Dining Car was great. It would be in Amtrak's best interest (increase ridership for starters) by doing a special vid on the food- menus, training, prepping meals to order on a long distance route...

@@leoross5777 That’s why we liked the train, we can walk around to different sections of the train, they have a movie car , bar car and just a lounge to sit and talk or play cards.
We love it ,we’re planning another trip soon.
