  • Today I had to replace the crankshaft oil seal on a BMW Mini One R56 year 2007, and to remove the Serpentine belt you need a special tool I show you how to do it without this tool.

Very nice to hear that and glad it helped you. I'll be doing the dreaded oil filter housing gasket over the next few days so watch out for that video too.

    Nice video.
You can avoid removing the upper body parts, by using a trolley jack and a bit of wood or thin metal bar from under the car and push the top tensioner upwards.
Much safer doing it your way though and also saves the belt incase the wood/metal bar slips and destroys it. As I was replacing my belts anyway I just push from underneath and hope for the best
Good tip to clean the sills out as well, thanks.

Thanks, it pretty easy to undo the top engine surround, and if you had an offset spanner you probably wouldn't need too really. The 2nd Mini I have just done had a different fixing for the belt tensioner as it used a 32mm normal spanner which was easier.

Great video, thanks! What did you call the nut you used to replace the headlight mount with? Mine has gone also!

Thanks, I used a Rivnut, you need a special tool and of course some correct size rivnuts.

Subframe looks super rusty, Mine is not far off of that and a mot failure in France. One of the reasons i've not got around to it yet.
I have a terrible noise coming from the timing end but i'm now suspecting possible separated bottom pulley.

Subframe rust seems to be a problem even back on the original proper mini's.
