    As an aircraft sheet metal mechanic who wears both of my steel case Rolex watches at work while running rivet guns and die grinders in an aircraft hangar, I have discovered the best way to clean a Rolex watch. While taking a shower, remove your Rolex and soap it up and rinse it off under the shower head. Yes I do get my Submariner Date and my Explorer II Date scratched at work while I live my blue collar life. But who cares. Rolex advises that you send your Rolex watch to the Rolex Depot once every five years because the oil that lubricates the watch movement dries out. And they return your watch to you in new condition for something more than six hundred and fifty trivial dollars. So who cares about a few scratches. I love my Rolex watches. But I do not worship then. Be a man. Wear your Rolex while you live your man's life.

      Thanks for the comment Onda. I wear my watches daily and rotate through them about once every week. However I am a collector who enjoys wearing Rolex, but also wants them to retain their value because I have a tendency flip them from time to time. As we all know the better condition they are in the more money you get back when you eventually sell. So when I clean my watches, I clean them in a way as to not scratch them in the process. The purpose of the video was to share that strategy. Also I just completed filming a camping Vlog where I took my Explore II with me. That’s coming up soon so keep an eye out for it if you haven’t subscribed already.

      I’ve had my submariner 21 years and I’ve never had it serviced. Runs just fine! Wear it every day whether I’m doing yardwork or on a business meeting. Question I have for you do you think if I should send it in for service? Thank you my friend! Submariner rocks!

    • @luxandtime
      @luxandtime  3 года назад

      Yes, I recommend you have it serviced or at least have the movement examined by a watch maker authorized by Rolex. You could have metal shavings starting to build up in the movement after that amount of time.

      It's kinda retarded that not taking care of your precious belongings equates to being a man and having a man's life. So I beat people to a pulp and knock them out for a living but I also have a music career and take good care of my precious sentimental belongings. So because I'm sentimental and I'm not afraid to touch my emotional sensitive side I'm not a man? lol
      I believe a man who doesn't give a shit and eat raw deer meat is not really a man, rather an uneducated, selfish muscle brain who thinks he is tough.

    Thanks for sharing the proper way to take care of the timepiece, regardless is sporty or luxury watches, the same way of care should be to preserve the lustrous of the time piece, I always clean my timepieces always before store it their watch box, about the scratches, I’m try to avoid the exposure of the watch next to any abrasive surfaces, even at the office desk, unless if you wearing long sleeve shirt but is inevitable, normal scratches are ok, I have Rolex and Patek watches and the AD always recommend that at the time of service, to avoid if you can the polishing, replacements of the dials and hands unless if is absolutely necessary, according to them, the watch should be preserved its original parts, papers and patina, that way, you will preserve its real value.

    Refer to the mohs scale of hardness. No way a towel will scratch that steel. Could rub it forever and nothing would happen.

    I would remove the bracelet and clean that in an ultrasonic cleaner with a drop of hand wash. I’ve read that the tiny particles of dirt are what causes the band to stretch.

    Wiping it with your hands you're not gonna get in all the crevices of the watch where dirt hides no matter how much you wipe it. You can use a very soft hot tooth brush or an ultrasonic cleaner like 2 or 3 times a year. although you would have to remove the band then the watch gently in warm soapy water with soft hot tooth brush. Been doing this for 30 years and all my Rolexs look clean new and shiny. Just make sure the brush is hot and soft.
