What you saw is just the tip get on a bus go out west or up to Northern Territory that is the outback in the centre not in Melbourne its an overcrowded city. Darwin in the Territory has some great food up there Plus great fishing. Get out and go to the Victorian coast Lakes Entrance or out west to the Murray River and Echuca or Moama city folk boring hehe....

It is actually called "The Shrine of Rememberance" and it has a superb view of Melbourne. It's located in the Domain gardens just off St Kilda Rd. You take the tram from Swanston St heading south (becomes St Kilda Rd after the bridge) and get off a few minutes later at the Domain Interchange (soon to be called Anzac Station) .

hosier lane is the worst spot for graffiti bro, the surrounding suburbs of melbourne are full of decent quality pieces yeah, actually i would recommend exploring more of the suburbs rather then the city centre, theres a lot of distinct little areas around melbourne that all have their own particular cultures etc. it seems that a lot of travellers come here and just spend a few days in the city area and basically miss out on the real melbourne experience

So, yes I was raised in White Conservative Australia, back in the 70's as I was only 1 yrs old when I got here. Nonetheless, even though we experienced SOME racism back then in the 1970's not so much today. So I'm not sure what you're talking about. I've had boyfriends in my life that were white Aussies and I feel lucky to be in a country that doesn't judge me by the colour of my skin or my background. Everyone sees me as an Aussie and that's cool, I've the accent, the slang and the way of life and it's my home. My best friend in the world is a blonde, blue eyed Aussie chick that I've known since I was only 16. So, my experience with Racism is very limited. Perhaps if you spend more time here U will understand that.

Yes, I agree with the girls, it's tough being a pedestrian in Melbourne...Can't just relax and wander around...It's why I prefer other cities like Sydney and Perth, to be honest...Less stressful...There are heaps of kangaroos in the countryside, just outside of Melbourne, especially up north...When you go to Sydney, don't forget to check out Bondi Beach and Manly Beach...And you definitely need to check out Perth, Fremantle and Rottnest Island in Western Australia, a really beautiful State! Also, you need to check out some more beautiful places in New South Wales like Albury, the Central Coast, Blue Mountains and Byron Bay. :D Melbourne is a bit dull, to be honest...It's a place where people go to study or work, not to really enjoy life, with a proper Work/Life balance...

Black people in Australia from African regions is a relatively recent thing, I did not see any black people in Australia till the last 5-10 years, it will take people a while to adjust just like it did when people first came from italy/greece, decades ago, and later from Asia, I was not sure what to make of people from Africa when first seen here but everyone from those countries seem to be quite good, smart and friendly. As for racial profiling there has been a few problems with gangs forming from people here from African countries in Melbourne so some people might be wary. It is different in the US as blacks have often lived in ghetto areas of higher crime, Australia has not been like that and hopefully wont become like it.
