I bought that watch in gunmetal grey last spring and wore it all summer. Somehow, I haven't even scratched it up yet and it still looks like new! It's a great watch!
I have on this watch for almost a year I just wasn't a fan of the bracelets and the way it makes the end-to-end very long. Plus the end links don't fall down the full basically straight out. So I swapped out the bracelet for a black vulcanized rubber strap and now I couldn't be happier. It gives off real Skin Diver Vibes and the loom is outrageous in a good way. Great video as always brother
I just happened to be wearing this very watch when this video was posted. Amazing watch - one of my favorites. I originally got the silver burst version but it was a little too blingy. The shade of blue they picked is unusual, but it’s stunning in person and helps give it a high end tool watch vibe. My wife has commented on it several times. Very happy with both of my San Martins.
I have the Seiko. After owning so many homage watches. I finally have a Watch that somebody made a homage of. Im so proud. I might get one just to have it.
Yes, I have both. And they are great. Maybe the best value on the site. So much nicer in person. They look much more expensive than their price would indicate!
I bought this when it was first released and it’s the best 62Mas homage out there imho. I owned the 41mm San Martin SN007 and didn’t like the way the end links fit the head of the piece. Sold it and bought the Seestern …just didn’t get on with that one. When San Martin released this one I thought ok one last try at this and wow for the cheapest version they hit the sweet spot for my 7” wrist, it is by far the best I’ve had and has stayed in my collection. I went for the grey sunburst dial and it’s stunning. Great review as always …keep them coming 👍
Yep, that's one of my favorites. At first, I didn't love the actual color of the dial once I had it in person as the pics made it look less Play Do looking, but I've grown to love it. Love the case, love the dial. Love the hands and indices... The bracelet does feel slightly more chunky than most and I almost always wear it on a brown or dark vintage leather strap. It's way up there on my list of favorite watch pickups in the least two or three years and I could easily have this as my everyday watch.
I own the grey sunburst one and its probably the watch i wear the most because of how nice it wears on my wrist, which is ruffly the same size as yours. Every time i see this blue enamel dial, i tell myself i need to buy it as like u said the blue is beautiful. This was the first san martin i ever bought and i was hooked. Nice review.
Steve , interesting your comment on the fluidity of the pin and collar system , I have never heard of that before but I’m not long on my journey of watch collecting ( don’t tell the wife ). With regard to adjusting pin and collar , I have a Glycine Air Pilot with this bracelet type . When I first got it I just couldn’t knock out the pins and eventually put it on a leather strap .I’ve recently purchased a couple of the SM budget BB58 ‘s and was very apprehensive about the pin and collar bracelets they come with . SM have a video showing how easy it is on AE , it isn’t if you use the tapping type pin remover thy supply . The pin on the “ chisel “ is actually fractionally larger than the pin hole so it becomes stuck as you tap it in and I had to remove it with pliers ! I then spread some WD40 along the pins on both sides of the bracelet and left it overnight . I then tried again using the plastic screw in pin remover also supplied ( I think ) , they look very flimsy so I have never bothered with one before especially I’ve got pretty good at tapping out split pins that most budget watches come with . “ amazingly “ the pins just eased out without a problem , however they did need a needle to tap them fully out . Putting the pin and collar back together again was similar to finishing off a split pin bracelet . I have subsequently used the above procedure with the Glycine bracelet , which I thought still wouldn’t cooperate. It did no problem and I am now wearing it as I’m not a fan of leather straps on immersible watches . I’m looking at the watch you have reviewed , in the blue too , it is a bit disappointing to hear about the flaking of the bezel numerals though but will probably go for it anyway as if the same happens a slightly distressed bezel might look quite authentic . A long missive , thank you for the review I do enjoy your style .
I just reviewed my first sm and I was super impressed, specifically with the glass, and if that's one of the cheapest sm selling right now I can't imagine their more expensive ones 😬they told me they're using 3 ar/ag coatings, don't know if 3 of each or 3 in total, but the thing feels invisible, even against direct sunlight
This is way cool and a hell of a value. But I have the Seestern Version and I really like it. Especially since I got it in a color that San Martin doesn’t have, silver. I believe the original 62mas came in silver also. Thanks for the great review.
Nice review! I just bought the Seestern 62 MAS and it is really AWESOME! This San Martin looks also great, but I prefer the 38 mm of the Seestern. These two are the watches that Seiko should have made. I hope one day they will...
Steve, a thorough yet concise review, thank you. Fantastic looking watch with really nice features. San Martin is usually synonymous with quality and finishing. I was surprised to see the bezel number paint issue. Otherwise a really cool piece.
SN008C in blue with the X1 lume is a better value (as it can be had cheaper), IMO. But this is a great option for a bit more of a premium cost for someone that doesn't want a watch that everyone else seems to also have an homage for.
I think it's almost a return to the 31mm dial, (most likely 30mm) . For a long time all the homages switched to 28.5mm dial with a big adapter ring, or overall smaller watch diameter. I think the lume is supposed to be greenish in this design. It gives the strongest lume.
Not only below 150, it's better quality and quality control than any Seiko 4/5/6 times it's price. Plus SM's customer service is leagues ahead of seiko.
Is this a 62mas homage??? I think the Seestern 62mas has a 38mm diameter & comes with female end links, superb build, seriously bright lume & a fantastic bezel action @ about th we same price. Can someone explain the need for male end links, raised lume pips & is there a quartz gmt movement with a sweeping 2nd hand. Thanks for the review
Hi, i notice there's one with SN0007-G-B and there's also a SN0007B. is it the same watch? the price is almost the same too. do you know what are the different is? thanks.
Depending on the region where you’re buying from you may be better off using watchdives. If buying from the UK watchdives allow tax included shipping either free or $5 depending on the price of the watch. This avoids the 20% tax added by Ali express if the watch is under £135.
Sorry if my post was confusing I live in the UK and if I purchase from Ali express any item below £135 has 20% vat added at checkout. Anything over £135 has no tax added. Very often if a watch is just under £135 by the time you add vat it is often cheaper on watchdives site.
@@Schnauser693 But will you not have to pay the VAT, customs duties, and handling fees for the delivery company upon or before delivery? From my understanding, under £135, the website collects it and pays it to HMRC, whereas over £135, the delivery company will manage it, including customs duties and a handling fee, right?
@@sharon0x1I’ve not took any real notice of the packaging tbh but maybe the sellers mark the item as valued less than £135 (so the delivery company assumes vat is already paid) to avoid this or maybe I’ve been lucky, but I’ve never been charged extra in over 2yrs of buying from Ali express and watchdives. I’ve only paid vat automatically on Ali express watches valued under £135, so it works out cheaper for me to buy a watch prices at £136 on Ali express than it does for one priced at £134 because the £134 would have 20% vat added at checkout and come to £160.
