- Fashionista Erika Nilsson-Humphrey is hoping her Scandanavian menswear brand, Dappad, will secure her a Dragon deal. Erika is seeking a £75K investment for a 7.5% stake in her company, a styling service that has been named 'One of the 10 coolest things to exist' by GQ.
An international sensation, Dragon's Den features entrepreneurs pitching for investment in the Den from our Dragons, five venture capitalists willing to invest their own money in exchange for equity.

If she took Jenny's advice and called it "Erika's Wardrobe", you can guarantee no men ever place an order again!

Unfortunately that's very true. The average professional guy looking for an e-stylist is gonna scroll right on by "Erika's Wardrobe" because they don't want to look like an Erika... I like her though and I think rebranding with some big capital behind her would greatly help her chances. Fully embrace the Scandinavian roots and ditch the nonsense word company name for starters.
I think there are guys that would buy if she used Erika's Wardrobe, but they'd be thinking it caters for drag queens, cross dressers and transexuals. Maybe she should do that as a side business.

As a guy, if I knew I'd have to leave the house to go to the post office to send the box back with the clothes I didn't want to keep, I'd may aswell just go out to to the shops and look for clothes I like that I can actually try on and check that fit me before I spend my money.
asos is very popular because you have a huge range of products all in one spot, and if it doesn't fit or you don't like it, you can return it for free at different places. It takes hours to go to the shops to find a product that you like, which you might not actually find there.

Imagine being a customer and finding out that your £1100 box of posh clothes are worth a couple of hundred quid (or less)
Agreed. That’s one of the problems with The Den. Your trade secrets are exposed. I was wondering if I understood that right. If it’s only 200 quad outlay. Who worries too much on a small % returns. The mark up is pretty immense and easily enough to cover that I would have thought.
TheCrimsonChip : CrimsonChip? Interesting moniker. 👍🏻 Yes I agree what you are saying, being a shop owner myself. But to some, profit can be a dirty word. Not to me though 😉 The thing is people understand overheads etc and they can accept that we all make a profit. It’s a bit different if this is huge or you cannot justify it to a potential customer. Owning a small cycle shop, if I was driving a super flash expensive car or owned a mansion for example, I most likely wouldn’t have the same ‘connection’ as I do now (having a basic van). That mark up would truly piss me off. Especially as there are no retail property and very small staff costs.
TheCrimsonChip : well with all things being relative, I have to agree your point. 👍🏻 have a good weekend.
That’s all posh clothes I’m afraid, you don’t think that Ralph Lauren shirt really cost £75 for them to make do you? You’re always paying for the label not the clothes.
The price is taking into account the labour costs, packaging, advertising, rent, etc... you are not just paying for a piece of cotton.
I have yet to understand why some people don't like hearing the commentator. I do, however, wonder what an episode would be like without him. Kinda dull, I would imagine.

It’s called Amazon wardrobe. Way cheaper, larger selection.
Amazon is rich enough to cover shipping costs and make a profit.
It’s a great idea she has, but her competition is pretty tough.
I’m not sure if Amazon wardrobe is available over in that country though.
I agree with Dragons Deb and Jenny in that this lady (fashion designer) needs to focus more on pitching why buying her clothes are better. Her outfits that she picks out. She didn’t demonstrate that at all. I think she would have done way better having some men models come out wearing her outfits she put together.
There’s no way she can offer this service cheaper than her competitors so she needs to convince people that her “eye” is better than most.
I’d love to have a personal fashion designer. I’ve often bought a cute shirt or pants but can’t for the life of me finding something I like to go with it.
Jenny: "Have you got anything for going out?"
Why keep 40,000 of clothing stocks (storage costs too) instead of buying the needed/ordered size by the customer and only send in the ones they asked for. Shipping the other clothes as extra choice/s is a waste of shipping expenses back and forth, especially if a lot of people are ordering; not to mention the risk of customers potentially using those 'choices' and sending them back used and unpaid for.

Falsely Leading Title and for that reason I'M OUT
The narrator really kills with the puns 😂😂😂
I read that Jenny ordered 2 of these boxes of clothes for her 2 strapping young lads at home. But the delivery failed because they were all out.
3:47, already he’s not understanding the business. Customers get a selection of clothes that might suit them and return the rest. 50% of clothes returned compared to 30% isn’t that much when the value of the product shipped is over a 1000 pounds. Being wilfully ignorant here
DownTopable
But the problem is everyone sends at least something back. Even if it’s just one item it still costs to sort out the returns. In normal clothing shops have 30% of customers that return something. So she does get loads more returns that other businesses
I guess he's saying the margins are small and naturally, by expanding the business, they'll get even smaller. Lets be honest, £1000 per box with a 50% return only brings in £500. Take away the cost of the box (£200) and the various delivery costs and it doesn't leave you with much especially considering the amount of work that goes into each box.
Lets face it, there's much better options online for this type of company whereby you choose whether you want an item or not before shipping it. Also the fact she has the stock is crazy.
Jenny's comments at 5.22 were met with a fiery glare and a clenched fist.
She's had the best marketing possible and is only breaking even.
