      What would be even more amazing is if I don't get absolutely WHACKED for this 😅

      I had trouble find these until maybe a year ago or more. Now I can see the semi finals and final. It's on the official website of the Olympics.

      @@dogestranding5047 but we still can't get the rest of the comps. It's great that we can get the podium bouts but I bet we also want to see other bouts as well, especially legendary bouts of Avola vs Massialas

    3:01 is a beauty, rare enough type of infighting move to see, but it looks great when it works.

    Omg, I’ve been looking for this for weeks. Thank you. How did you find this gem?

      The olympic channel website has a few bouts from rio and london, if you type in "foil" you can find a few more too 😁

    The touch at 4:46 still confuses me. Garazzo steps back last, doesn't break distance, and comes forward in prep. Yet, they still gave him the point. Anyone know why?

    • @OlympicFoil
      @OlympicFoil  2 года назад +1

      i would say he attacks, not that he comes forward in prep

    • @lastbot7383

      it seems that safin initiated the attack but stopped and Grazzo followed up. For some reasons, the ref in the bout seems to be always picking on it, especially for Safin and not as much for Grazzo. Safin just changes speed and the ref thinks he stopped....

      Safin has priority, but Garozzo came back in with an advanced lunge which is considered an attack of his own ,not a counterattack. Safin waited until he saw Garozzo attack to start his own attack so it’s attack Garozzo.
      Safin only really has to start his extension at the same time as Garozzo to maintain priority, but he waited for too long and his move is thus considered a reactive move.

    The tall young referee from the first period is truly the worst professional foil referee I have ever seen barring corrupt ones. 3 consecutive garbage calls in a row, blatantly ignoring clear right of way rules for both players? This guy isnt biased for either athlete, he doesnt seem to know whats going on. What street did they pick him up from? Usually his calls arent even this bad in offical FIE events. What happened??

    • @OlympicFoil
      @OlympicFoil  5 месяцев назад +4

      I think this is a case of the footage being older. The right of way was different back in 2016, and it's changed a lot. For the time, the calls were fine

      Some get taken down, some stay up (as you can see on CyrusofChaos's channel), so it's not really clear what the situation is. So far there have been no problems.
